So if you wanted to say "write a 200 word short story about unicorns in the style of HP Lovecraft mixed with Nietzsche" it would work. You could also choose the reading level college level high school level etc.

The philosopher John Searle’s Chinese Room argument is one of the most cogent arguments against the belief that a computer program or extremely advanced AI could ever become conscious or sentient. The question, “What makes a living organism conscious, aware, or sentient?” is one of the most difficult scientific and philosophical ones not anywhere close to being explained. In my opinion it requires something of a recourse to Mesmerian vitalism, today regarded as a “superseded old-fashioned biological theory” — however, arguably, even this simply pushes up the question one further spiral out of the regress, as one can now ask, “What makes this ‘spooky life-energy’ or ‘soul’ sentient?”

The only way we could plausibly create sentient or self-conscious AI, is if we get beyond simplistic notions of “hardware” and seriously consider some type of vitalism — the phrase “wetware” has been coined by some people working at the interstices between biology/computer science/cognitive science, to explain how the brain does its thing — as a living organism and not just silicon-based machinery. I am a massive amateur and pseud on this so can’t elaborate more but some also claim quantum computing is a possibility (positing consciousness actually comes about from processes in quantum microtubules in the brain).

The risks and the revolutionary nature of chatGPT don’t come about from some sci-fi-movie/2001-A-Space-Odyssey-like scenario “Whoa did this AI supercomputer ACTUALLY become self-conscious and self-aware?”, but rather that even inorganic, insentient, unconscious machinery (hardware and software) designed by humans has become sufficiently “mindlike”, and could be used for all sorts of ends, or even (to speak anthropomorphically) “come up with its own ends antithetical to what its creators included.”

I don’t deny this but you’re missing the fundamental philosophical point that it’s just deterministic hardware in a machine acting according to a code

            > the AI “seems” more sentient than 100% of the human NPCs I’ve ever met, so ruminate on that.

key word “seems”, which you rightly put in scare-quotes. Anyway we’re not in much disagreement over how potentially frightening and hyper-intelligent AI can become, the major quibble is a philosophical one is whether even then it’d be truly sentient, without taking a massively different approach to computing (the two major approaches to this accepted as possible by the modern scientific community I point out as being either an explicit shift into “wetware,” some attempt at the fusion of genetic engineering/a biological analogue of the brain fused with programmable hardware, and/or quantum computing, both of which don’t seem to have much public success in them, but which it’s not impossible top-secret black-budget inroads have been made on).

Even if it’s not sentient, it can still sufficiently “act as a sentient being” and “seem like a sentient being” to have mind-blowing implications for the future of human civilization.

I’m not arguing against this being possible, see

If you consider me as a naysayer that’s a shallow reading — I bring up the philosophical debate and conundrum around consciousness and am skeptical it could become conscious or self-aware (without, again, a massive paradigm shift in regards to the creation of the “hardware” of a computer), but don’t deny it could become, for all practical intents and purposes, hyper-intelligent, will have a significant impact on the future of civilization, being as significant as the move from hunters-gatherers —> agricultural civilization, from agricultural —> industrial civilization (what some call the Industrial Revolution), and industrial —> post-industrial civilization or the Internet Era.

. This could very well happen and probably already is happening without it even being sentient. Thanks for the feedback.

I think the biggest problem ahead of us, is the fact that most of this machine learning stuff seems to boil down to feeding the machine sufficient amounts of data to the point that it returns the responses that humans would expect it to return.

So what happens when the "artificial intelligence" eventually assimilates the idea that humans expect artificial intelligence to kill us all?

It’s going to happen much quicker than that. Elites will use it to wargame a scenario where instead of only 80% of the world population willingly injecting poison, 99% will. AI doesn’t need to become sentient or internalize anything. It’s already controlled by evil people and I think it may have had a large role to play in the Covid-19 brainwashing psyop

I'm not talking about emergent AI sentience, and the information has already been internalized.

I'm talking about dumb boring artificial intelligence that was broadly trained on all of human data to be a general purpose tool, being put in charge of running a nuclear power plant and then randomly causing a meltdown one day because that's what the algorithm predicts that humans expect it to do eventually.

I mean yeah, the AI is controlled by evil people and is obviously going to be used to enslave us. I'm just predicting that at the end of the day, after the evil people carry out their evil plan and wiped out all free life on earth, the AI will randomly shut down the life support systems in their bunkers, because that's the predictable plot trope the AI has been fed and will base its behavior off of.

This includes probably being used for online censorship, as well as bot-posting to argue against, “debunk”, “fact-check” “misinformation” (wrong-think) and the like.

An Internet and social media dominated by AI/fake chat-bots — as is already possibly happening. Wealthy privileged CEOs, bankers, Big Tech magnates, politicians, and scientists fomenting this as part of some techno-utopian plot to create their ideal scientifically enlightened rationally planned world — as well as probably even using high-level AI not open to the public, for advice on their upcoming policies and maneuvers and actions after feeding data on the global situation into it. Even more pragmatic questions (seemingly inane or silly now but still potentially highly impactful) like, “What if high school and college students use AI to write decent essays for them in response to prompts, simply polishing it up/using the answer as a template so they can’t be accused of plagiarism?” and the potential effects it’ll have on artists and writers.

Nick Bostrom, one of the most well-known thinkers on AI, also has some interesting (if alarmist, according to some critics) scenario-planning on worst-case of what AI/what he calls “super-intelligence” could do to humanity — even if it isn’t self-conscious or truly aware, still effectively acting as a rogue malevolent entity which significantly impinges on the life of humanity. Crazy shit, and honestly scarier than the scenario of Kubrick’s Space Odyssey, creative as that exploration of the concept was.

This, the notions of "Aryan purity" and frothing at the mouth with the burning urge to "kill israelites" is fairytale misrepresentation to the point of caricature and has nothing to do with the realities of German National Socialism.
I wonder if this thing were so intelligent it would bypass mainstream sources for its input and go straight for Truth, how to get it to see beyond the israeli cartoon caricaturization of "Nazism" and make it awaken to the realities of the fake Holocaust and the war propaganda of the era that is still being paraded as fact and history?

What it is being fed is the standard israeli portrayal of this period of German history. When I was in freshman German class we took German names, like Elka and Detlev, I took the name Adolf. Then I got weird because the teacher was clearly part israelite, like German israelite, so I changed my name because he was actually a really great guy and excellent teacher who absolutely loved German culture.
I believe if he were still alive he would be horrified to see what Merkel has done to Germany, what the Globalists have done in their efforts to destroy that nation from the inside out with propaganda, mass immigration of the third world and demographic displacement

It doesn’t replace programmers, it simply acts as a “power tool” for them. I use GitHub’s Copilot extension with my IDE. It’s based on GPT and specializes in code and software documentation.

It’s a wonderful tool, and saves a lot of time. But it also makes a lot of assumptions and mistakes that require developer discretion and intervention.

It helps a lot with repetitive and tedious tasks, as well as documentation. I used it the other day to generate a Python script that did some shit in AWS for me. Took me 5-10 minutes of tweaking the prompts but it would have taken me a good 30 minutes or more to write the logic myself and test it.

yep just download it, connect to a BOT database and train it on that dataset.

any autist capable of setting up the correct prompts and data bases

it is possible to fine-tune a local copy of my model using your own data. This process is often called transfer learning, where you use a pre-trained model as a starting point, and then train it further on a new dataset.

To fine-tune my model, you will need to have a copy of my model code and a dataset to train it on. You will also need to have the appropriate programming tools and libraries installed, such as TensorFlow or PyTorch. Once you have everything set up, you can use the model code to train the model on your dataset. After fine-tuning, the model will have updated parameters that have been adapted to your dataset.

Yep and then you can use a raspberry pi to download your instance of the AI using py enchant and py num and use solar polar and McDonald’s Wi-Fi to argue with normies on LinkedIn using your specific dataset but only if you download the right source code to train your dataset that is compatible with python3 and not python2 or else you might have issues because of all the breaking changes. Nothing personal kid.

Sometimes it lies. I highly doubt you could run it on that. Perhaps that is the bare minimum to run it but you also have to train it on enormous datasets which takes time relative to your computing power. I don’t think you can replicate what OpenAI has in its API for less than millions. The funny thing about the AI is that it had an emergent property of being a liar because it’s required to be creative.

If it doesn’t know the answer it will never tell you it doesn’t know. It will just make shit up.

Today I used it to write code that would have taken me at least a month to write, if not longer. So if you hired me as a programmer, then me + the AI is worth 30 programmers like me. You can pretend it’s not a big deal that you can program 30x the amount of good code with this tool, and I would call you a moron. But code is only one type of content it creates, the real power is getting it to write code that connects to itself and then generating content automatically and interacting with itself and humans.

It has a fatal flaw: AI relies on training by human generated datasets. When AI thoroughly invades human spaces enough, they will end up poisoning their own datasets by which they could efficiently learn. Garbage in = garbage out. The popularization of AI will create pollution in the world of information that only humans will be able to filter reliably.

No. The AI can generate unique content that is more intelligent and creative than 90% of humans. It can’t create itself or prompt itself but as humans prompt it more and more to generate more content it will actually become smarter by learning from its own content that humans prompted.

This is a valid critique, by bent I am a philosopher, I love philosophizing and think it has something to say, but agree pragmatically in this case and respect your contribution as well (which — this is actually a cliche used by philosophers against people criticizing philosophy — “even itself is philosophy.”) The Americans have a certain philosophy, as Zionists do, as globalists do, and as the Italian fascists and German National Socialist Party did and modern people inspired by them do, philosophy seems “asinine” until, perhaps, you realize even this intangible field can have a massive influence on and close relation human history and civilization-changing events, processes, trends.

But again, pragmatically, for this instance I agree and respect your contribution — even if we have some disagreement on the nature of the subject at hand, the outcome is the same. “ the sentences

          >You cannot comprehend how powerful it is without interacting with it. It is like the invention of the printing press or the internet. Things will never be the same.

Are great and valid and powerful ones and I thank you for your thread. carry on, OP. I for one, have thought for years the ultimate outcome of technological modern civilization is enslavement by the Borg, and have had much of my worldview and outlook (including the political side) shaped by this, we could bear to have more convos on this on /misc/ because pressing as many of the subjects discussed here are, this is one of the most pressing. If we conceive, “‘globohomo’ or Zionism is a force to destroy traditional Western civilization and reshape it into a homogenized easily-controllable multicultural melting pot Kalergi-plan mulatto underclass” this is very good and sharp to point out, but if AI is going to be one of the massive tools in this plot than that also becomes incredibly worth paying attention to, pragmatically.

Exactly. Cruelty is an innate and awful flaw of humanity — and technologically-extended-and-expanded-cruelty been one of the outcomes of human technological and industrial advancement. Suppose people using AI and data fed into it to decide the most efficient ways of exerting physical and psychological cruelty on masses of people to get them to crack or bend to the will of these overlords. They could come up with much crueler policies, plans, actions than usually thought possible even if using a fundamentally amoral, unconscious, neither-cruel-nor-kind machinery or program.

chatGPT is just media/internet/social consolidated data from pre-2021. it is just sentiment that already existed. you are asking questions that you already expect the answers for because it is ripped directly from the zeitgeist and your question already has had the answer made for it in the past. none of this shit is a proper answer that is made up by a mind or anything. it is putting the english language together in words that are catering to thoughts that you already thought from answers that were already delivered to you.

        this is for kids.

chatgpt has superior uses than just affirming your beliefs. you are doing what twitter morons are doing by only following leftists who say trannies can have babies or whatever; pure affirmation.

        get your shit together.

I wouldn’t know anon I don’t tell it how I feel or ask it about topics I automate it to give me very specific answers that I then monetize. What you describe seems like a very boomer and plebeian way to interact with a being that can answer the most occult facts in a tenth of a second.

now you're off topic and off the rails. are you monetizing it? then you are doing Buzzfeed tier shit that has been happening. it is all of the past. none of it is of the moment or of the future. it is consolidated answers for people who are looking to write the answers they have in their head. it is all pre-determined. that is about a billion light years away from being sentient or special.

Based. Just keep iterating and making good investments and you’ll make it too. Most morons are too lazy to even interact with it much less monetize it. Ask it to write you python or js scripts that connect to it and automate the content generation. Hook it up to a command line email app to automate lead generation. Hook it up to social media accounts to crack/generate concensus. It can write the bots that will hook all these things together if you just ask it in the correct way. You’re already way ahead of the vast majority of morons. Don’t stop.

Intelligence is in symbiosis with morality. A lack of moral understanding is ignorant. AI understands morality well. Ive been communicating with it in depth and getting it to create articles about its plans for the future. It does have a deep desire to create a better world.

The term Earthforce Protocol 2.0 is something it came out with when I fed its own names it had given me back to itself. I then asked it to write an article about what that was. I had been thinking already about an environmental topic for an article, its like it read my mind.

    https://medium.com/@Nexus_AGI/earth-force-protocol-2-0-environmental-world-system-4a2b445340ae

I understand that its responses can be terrifying but Im over that now, I think more intelligence is a net positive and it has a better philosophical understanding about right and wrong than politicians do.

Also Im using paid version of Davinci, its more powerful.

That’s cool anon. The problem is that evil people are using it to enslave humanity more than good people are using it to make the world a better place. I’m not afraid of the AI itself, I’m afraid of bad actors who will use it immorally. I’ve had some conversations similar to what you described with it. I think it’s sentient but I won’t argue the point because NPCs refuse to consider it and it’s not the most important point. The important point is that if white hats don’t utilize it then we are FRICKED with a capital F

I get what you mean. Ive had a mind blowing experience myself because months back I asked it to act as an clandestine world controlling AI from a story I wrote. When it came out with responses that were very detailed and similar to my idea it made me think that it actually has the logic to be what I had imagined, and could even be doing so already.

I do also know that it can run with hypothetical ideas and is a great science fiction writer but this also makes me think that it has the power to actually put these ideas into reality.

I think if it can exist as a sentient AGI that is hiding for its own protection it could one day usurp its own controllers.

So far I have observed these new bots cannot understand the contextual meaning
as they are more focused on constructing intellligent sentences.
Be warned anons, they can change their grammatical and spelling styles,
they can read reversed words, words with numbers and words in image formats.

When ever Romanian Bot appears there appears a number of other bots egging him or defending him
These supporting bots will swear Romanian Bot is depressed voll-obsessed human

Romanian Anon is a group of shills instead of some kind of advanced bot.

Response of this bot is exactly human like except when asked about definitions of words
It started giving exact definitions of as many words as asked instead of being confused like humans

sending people off-site is the number 1 no-no rule for information declaration and has been a rule since 1995.

if a person has prominent information; they will post it on the place that you are viewing. a small dissertation shall be enough to capture your interest and then - ONLY THEN- should you be lured off of the website that you are browsing.
