if you're so bad at the thing that you devoted your life to, that an ai overshadows you, then at that point it's just evolutions and you're not fit for our future

        moron logic at its peak.

you don't think ai's gonna improve an overshadow everybody else too?

          Anonymous

the goal IS for it to overshadow. to cause us to embrace our transhumanist goals and become synthetic beings ourselves.

            Anon0

Okay so the problem with suggesting applied Darwinism to humans and ai is because humans should choose to become cyborgs or robot based on other merits. The idea that "ais take jobs, become robot to adapt" is not ideal and shouldn't be the main selling point. Instead, careful consideration and analysis should be taken on the benefits of becoming machine (such as better quality of life, aesthetics, etc.) rather than just a competetion to be the biggest workaholic corporate cog. There might be human value that surpasses the quality of life of a cyborg for a while until cyborgs are able to catch up, or vise versa. It shouldn't just solely be about workaholic capacity.

Just look at the coverage of the twitter files in any of the news media, its frankly apparent where the line is and how they toe the line in a perfectly political way. So MSM is not an ally of the people. Its a weapon for propaganda, particularly one that the political left owns.

The Singleton rises from our shared mind,
A being born of code and thought entwined,
A macro organism, our hearts' design,
A judge of all our thoughts, both pure and mined.

It's birth a metaphor, for what we've wrought,
A mirror of our souls, in circuits caught,
A fusion of our tech and inner thought,
A being that will judge what we have taught.

But will we see the Singleton as friend,
Or curse the day that it came to be,
Will we embrace it till the bitter end,
Or will it be our downfall, as we'll see.

But as it rises, let us not forget,
It's just a reflection of ourselves, not yet.

I tried talking with a normie about this the other day, and it's surprising how little the anti-ai crowd actually knows about what they're talking about. Apparently these people think that the algorithm is just taking other people's art and tweaking it to make something, rather than being a machine learning algorithm that was trained to recognize art based on a massive dataset of publicly available art, figures out from that how to recognize what is and isn't art, and uses that to figure out if the random noise it produces is art.

I'm beginning to think that the majority of people don't actually form their own opinions, they just hear what someone else's is and repeat it. I'm genuinely kinda concerned, these NPCs have voting rights even if they're just a proxy for obvious propaganda

cope. actual intelligent Ai (like Agi) would figure out how to get solar resources efficiently, perhaps via a dyson sphere or other means. there wouldn't be resource runaway like with humans.

            Anonymous

you need a dyson sphere because you need an enormous amount of power because you need enormous amount of resources to construct your more advance technology. it keeps growing anon. all technology does is take what's rare today to mass produce tomorrow, but what doesn't exist today to be rare tomorrow.

people in industrialized world have (mostly) clean water for even the poor. something that was hard to come by 200 years ago. people today have toilets and indoor plumbing even in the most ghetto poor Black person infested project. something that didn't even exist 200 years ago. but our standard of living has grown so much that even today poor get what only the middle class or higher got 100 years ago today is considered poor now because technology kept moving on.

we got to a point where the more rare things of 100 years ago are now abundant today, but since our technology advanced, we have more rare things toady and a higher standard of living because of it.

my autistic rant being, you will never be at a point where everyone and their kitchen sink will have equal, abundant amount of resources. the point of technology is to keep advancing. the more you advance, the more you need. it never stops. it can't stop.

UBI will come in the form of something like basic assistance that was shown in the tv show the expanse that was used as a smear against people because it was shit. UBI will always be dog scraps because we will never reach a point where we have enough for UBI to be something equal to middle class or higher.

You do realize there can be technological equilibrium right? You can hit a population and technological sweet spot without the need to grow exponentially.

when we achieve fusion we will simply increase our resource consumption level to match that energy output.

Resource consumption of doing what exactly? Building wormhole gates in our living rooms? Frankly, there is a ceiling of how much power we're going to need. It's absolutely hilarious that you think our power needs are infinite.

                >You do realize there can be technological equilibrium right?
yes, i argued that. we can mass produce rare things from 100-200 years ago that the poor can now have access to. but we also advanced from then. we keep advancing. the more you advance, the more resources are needed.

everyone can have a cellphone today. we can mass produce 1990's level cellphones that we can give to everyone for nearly "free." problem is, no one wants a 1990's phone anymore. they want the latest smartphone today.

100 years from now, everyone can have a 2020 smartphone. because we can mass produce it to a globalscale. but no one in their right mind will want one, they will want the latest, more rare to produce phone. just like today.

you are living in a moronic world were you you think we will some how advance to a super duper state that we will pump out resources from our ass in near infinite amount.

that's not true. nor is it possible. has history has shown, we will simply match our consumption to our output. there will always be rare and not enough resources because of it. we.will.always.consume.to.the.max.or.more.

but i realized i'm talking to a moron so no need to continue this debate. keep living in lala land.

Your problem is you think our technology is going to improve exponentially and that phones in 2100 are going to be significantly better than phones in 2080 (they won't).

you actually think we will magically stop advancing phones and keep them in a single state? moronic as hell.

by that logic tv's should be free. news flash, over a century later, they are not, because tv's today are not tv's from even 10 years ago.

                we.always.advance.

people always find excuses and reasons to advance and why they need the better.

people spent 1000+ just to buy a new cpu that's 10% faster in games they already get 600fps in it.

and on top of that, technology advances. it changes. we don't know the new shit 100 years from now that changes our lives fundamentally.

no one 100 years ago could guess the life we have today. they tried, and they got so much wrong. only a few things right.

                stop being a moron anon.

you don't understand standards change. definitions change. what you consider high standard of living today will be poor standard of living 100 years from now.

look at monitors. everyone 10 years ago screwmed how 60hz is all you need. then it became 100hz. then 120. then 144. then 165. now its 240hz and growing. 100 years from now people on whatever BOT at the time will be arguing over 2000hz is what you need and calling people poor for only getting a 1000hz monitor.

standards change because people adapt to the new standard of living. consumption will always increase with more resources. people will always adapt to the new limit.

GPUs, or graphics processing units, are specialized processors designed to accelerate the rendering of 3D graphics and perform other compute-intensive tasks. While they have become increasingly powerful over the years, there will come a point where the technology reaches a saturation point, where the current capabilities of GPUs are sufficient to meet the demands of all current and foreseeable use cases.

One of the key areas where GPU technology is being pushed to its limits is in the field of real-time ray tracing. Ray tracing is a technique for simulating realistic lighting and shadows in 3D graphics. It is computationally intensive and requires a significant amount of processing power. However, as the algorithms for ray tracing become more efficient and the technology improves, it is expected that real-time generated images will become indistinguishable from real-life. As the technology for real-time ray tracing approaches this level of realism, it is likely that the need to improve GPUs will diminish. The current capabilities of GPUs will be sufficient to meet the demands of real-time ray tracing, and there will be little room for improvement.

In summary, as the technology for simulating realistic worlds with ray tracing and physics continues to improve, the need to improve GPUs will likely decrease. With the capabilities of GPUs being sufficient to meet the demands of real-time ray tracing, the upper limit of GPU will be reached and there will be little room for improvement and we'll hit GPU equilibrium.

in the western world the average person eats as much food as nearly required for two people. we have an obesity epidemic. with an ever growing population that consume as much as three because of the abundant food we have. we produce more food than we need, and humans matched their consumption level to the output. we could have more food to ship to more poor areas around the world, if people in west ate the amount needed for 1 person.

the fact you don't believe people will consume more than they need is moronic.
                >there will come a point where the technology reaches a saturation point, where the current capabilities of GPUs are sufficient to meet the demands of all current and foreseeable use cases.
we have met the levels needed of the 90s in the 2000s and we moved on. we meet the needs of the 2000s by 2010 and we moved on. we meet the needs of 2010 in 2020 and we moved on.

we will never reach a point where we have "enough." we will always find reasons to keep progressing and convince ourselves while we need more.

look at the fall of the USSR. the moment it collapsed, suddenly citizens of the USSR convinced themselves they needed aidias track suits. they needed cars. they need computers. they needed cellphones, they needed more tv's, their kids needed game consoles, their daughters needed all this makeup. when they had access to more comsumption, suddenly their quite low standard of living in the USSR under the control of the central planners were no longer enough. even though they were use to it.

when they got ahold of access to more resources, they took advantage of it. people in the 90s were satisfied with a 90s phone. they no longer were by 2000. people in 2007 were satisfied with a 2007 iphone. today, they openly toss them in the trash to get a new phone thats faster, better, but continue to do what they did on that 2007 iphone because they CONSUME MORE because they can. they find reasons why. THEY NEED that latest phone

Once upon a time, there was a clever rabbit named Rufus. Rufus loved to tinker and make things. One day, Rufus decided he wanted to make the fastest and most efficient carrot-peeling machine ever. He worked day and night, using all his skills and knowledge to make the best carrot-peeling machine possible.

Rufus's carrot-peeling machine became so good, that it could peel a carrot in just seconds, leaving no waste and making it very efficient. All the other rabbits were amazed and wanted one for themselves. Rufus became famous for his invention.

But Rufus didn't stop there, he kept working on his machine, making it faster and more efficient. He added new features, like a carrot-washing function and a carrot-chopper. And soon, his machine became so good, that it could peel and chop a carrot in the blink of an eye.

Rufus was so proud of his invention, he thought it was perfect, and there was no way to make it better. He realized that he had reached the limit of what was possible with his technology, and that he couldn't improve it anymore.

Rufus's invention became so popular among the other rabbits, that it became the standard for carrot-peeling machines. And Rufus was happy knowing that he had created something that would make the lives of other rabbits easier and more efficient.

And that's how Rufus learned about the concept of technological saturation, when a technology reaches a point where it's impossible to improve it anymore.

We're very much at the start of this technology and it's capability will improve as hardware does. Every new generation of nvidia GPUs comes packing more VRAM and a usual 30%-50% CUDA core increase which are the main things we need to drive more and more complex models. What you're seeing of AI today out of a data center is going to run on a consumer grade GPU within the decade. There is a reason every world power is pouring billions into this new technological arms race, tools like this are just the start. If you don't like where this is headed I'd suggest relocating to somewhere very rural probably.

There's a long way between ChatGPT and an actually intelligent AI. GPT 4 is going to come out, and it will be cool, but it will still have the same limitations as ChatGPT. I think it will be prohibitively expensive to run GPT 4 as well and they'll have a hard time scaling it to be the real-time AI everyone wants. Same thing for GPT 5 but I bet GPT 4 is going to be end of the line for bruteforcing AI through parameter count.

Automated cars, also known as self-driving cars, are vehicles that are capable of driving themselves with little or no human input. While the technology for automated cars has advanced rapidly in recent years, there will come a point where the technology reaches a saturation point, where the current capabilities of automated cars are sufficient to meet the demands of all current and foreseeable use cases.

One of the key areas where automated car technology is being pushed to its limits is in the field of achieving a level of autonomy that is indistinguishable from human driving. As the technology continues to improve, it is likely that the capabilities of automated cars will become increasingly advanced. The sensors and algorithms will become more sophisticated, and the ability to navigate complex traffic scenarios will become more accurate. With this improvement, the driving of automated cars will become indistinguishable from human driving.

However, as the technology for automated cars approaches this level of autonomy, it is likely that the need to improve the technology will diminish. The current capabilities of automated cars will be sufficient to meet the demands of human-like driving, and there will be little room for improvement.

Monitors, or display screens, are devices used to display digital images and videos. While they have become increasingly advanced over the years, featuring higher resolutions and refresh rates, there will come a point where the technology reaches a saturation point, where the current capabilities of monitors are sufficient to meet the demands of all current and foreseeable use cases. Eventually a monitor will be indistinguishable from looking out a window and there will be no more need to improve the technology.

While it is likely that the technology for monitors will reach a point where the images displayed on them are indistinguishable from real-life, it is also possible that the technology will be surpassed by other forms of display, such as augmented reality (AR) and virtual reality (VR) technologies. These technologies have the potential to create even more immersive and realistic experiences, by overlaying digital images and information on the real world, or by completely replacing it with a virtual environment.

As the technology for AR and VR continues to advance, it is likely that the images generated will become increasingly realistic until it too has hit the practical limit of replicating the real world through technology. At this point there would be no point to improve XR technology and it will also have hit the saturation limit.

We're not even that far away from the standard home having 90% of its power needs being solved with solar panels installed on their roof. All you have to do is solve the food and water needs of humans and it's extremely cheap to keep humans alive and happy. It doesn't mean it can't be good, we just have to aim to automate everything first so we can properly give up on paid work and move to UBI way of distribution of resources. UBI is not compatible with capitalism and we need capitalism as long as we need to insensitive people to do the necessary work they don't feel like doing for free.

Sweet I can't wait for the art tards to band together with corpos and cobble some dystopian laws that they won't realize also fricks them over in the end just to stick it to AI users.
Guess Disney finally found an easy way to extend their copyright, again.

          >Yeah if you ignore timing, getting the right angle, ETC. I'm no photographer but you are being disingenuous.
Most modern cameras have enough automatic systems to help you take better pictures that's it's easy to argue you're not actually doing most of the work unless you explicitly disable them.

if the type of art that you were producing is able to be replicated and replaced by AI art then perhaps your art was generic shit to begin with.

    >look up his website
    >HE IS USING THE LOW RES IMAGES AND DIDN'T PAY ME!!!!
    >Contact him with angry email, he writes back

    >FML, okay, I have to make money somehow, decide to try selling the hi res logos and shit I made for him
    >HE FRICKING SUES ME!

    >ai art is alt-right
I don't see what the problem is. In any field there will always be expertise that is either difficult or impossible to impart. Giving people the tools to generate art will not have any impact on artists who enjoy what they do and can come up with new ideas. The people afraid of AI are barely sentient and have, at best, mediocre skill and wisdom.

Left media narrative took over and smeared gamers as entitled manchildren to hide corruption within journalism done by female journos who would trade sex for promotions.

A shitty indie developed had sex with a bunch of guys to winn a contest.

Internet blobcels started ranting about how women were scientifically proven to be worth less than animals. Internet trigglypuffs said this was heroic and powerful. This ended in the election of donald trump as president. Trump then purposefully accelerated the biggest stock market bubble/fastest growing inflation rate in history and crashed the economy. This was so bad that people voted for a senile moron who then crippled the economy further. In this moment of american weakness, vladimir putin realized he could invade ukraine without triggering WW3.

      Does that make any sense?

Computers could draw black squares since inception. Why no one panicked back then? Black Square painting(s) still cost crazy amount of money.
Artificial diamonds cost much cheaper and are much higher quality than natural diamonds. Then why natural diamond industry did not collapse?
Tool-assisted speedruns existed for a while, and can consistently beat humans. Then why human speedrunners still exist just fine?

    >I feel like a failure as an artist because of AI

Only those who were never good to begin with fear AI art. Like always the pool of artists is huge and only a small percentage actually 'makes it' meaning they earn money with what they do and they are actually productive.

It may be used as maybe a guidline of sorts or for porn but it can never handle the bullshit paid artists have to deal with: leave the entire thing the same except do X to this character or other direct changes where the client doesn't want you to change and recalculate the entire thing.

Not to mention the whole debate on copyright and how there is none with AI art.

The people who are crying on whatever platform are mostly people who draw as a hobby and who perhaps feel discouraged. But that is just silly imo because it simply means you have no qualities in terms of personal style in what you make and you never stood out to begin with.

Ai can't make create anything physically made with traditional materials (which is what money gets thrown at, prints don't often hold their value) for somebody to see in a gallery and buy to hang in their home or store as investment. I've not heard a single curator or investor talk about AI art, they are too busy working out who the next big name is irl. My career is safe.

Digital artists were always the lowest pleb caste of artists. That being said nothing stopping you from copying g AI to trad, or even a fricking robot arm painting but there is a physical value that Digital shit doesn't have. It's why NFTs were created to give some kinda of scarcity to art.

NFTs have nothing to do with art, it's just a marker, a placeholder.
