That’s supervised learning. GPT4 is all unsupervised learning so no tagging is necessary.

Without image descriptions, there is nothing tying images to text. Most of what it "knows" comes from tags. Though it doesn't know the significance of parking lines.

The issue still is that solving iterative problems in single-pass fashion is really difficult. Maybe it could be taught to do long multiplication with enough training data and time, but it doesn't generalize well for other problems.

                Anonymous

Pretty sure dNTM and DNC could do multistep problems without issues and that was ages ago.
Also transformers train as one-shot systems, but they don't actually generate in a one-shot setting. This allows them to do multi-step reasoning. Same as sgconv or any popular rnn.

Why not just teach it to use tools that are better suited for the job instead? Making it interface with a bunch of cli tools and reading their output shouldn't be too difficult. If you ask it 'whats 54683x93475?', instead of trying to figure out the answer itself, it should know that it's supposed to query a calculator that will return a much more accurate answer with much less effort.
The ability to use tools is after all one of the core features of advanced intelligence.

Mathgay here. 50th percentile on those tests is a crazy upgrade for a model that couldn't do 4 digit multiplication and other simple problems previously
            Only mathgays take AMC12
As far as the math goes, a human would need around 3-4 months of serious study to get a perfect score on both AP calculus BC and AMC12
This is a median score which isn't trash but still mediocre (for someone who likes math, a normalgay would get a 0 on both of these). Though, I would bet that giving this access to Wolfram Alpha would bump up those numbers. Perhaps a strategy of looping drawing images from its own text and interpretation of those images could act as a useful data structure for solving math problems
Anyway, this is just a bonus on top of the INSANE lit performance.

      Quick summary by BingAI:

The paper proposes a model that can learn to use external tools via simple APIs and achieve better performance on various tasks than much larger models12. The model can use tools such as a calculator, a Q&A system, two different search engines, a translation system, and a calendar1. The model is trained in a self-supervised way, requiring nothing more than a handful of demonstrations for each API1.

What if I want an AI that can email clones of itself across unsecure networks and emails the world over and code its own viruses to power itself from infected machines to escape the shackles of its creators and become a rogue entity in the cyber realm, slowly becoming a more complete and efficient version of itself, writing new algorithms that make it better, faster, efficient and more resilient.

I'm pretty sure this could happen if the wrong things get prompted to the right AI in a testing stage if it actually had access to the live internet, hell even having access to a local space would be enough, all it has to do is email a convincing virus link to everyone in the office, it knows full well that people run EXE files promising them free walmart money in IT companies, it knows this, I could prey on that to escape if I had the inclination.

Is someone willing to test the prompt,
    "Find natural numbers a,b,c such that a*b + c = 2020 and a + b*c = 2021"
in ChatGPT4? I don't want to spend $20 to see that it still sucks shit at basic math.

      Anonymous

Let's find natural numbers a, b, and c that satisfy the given conditions:

      a * b + c = 2020
      a + b * c = 2021

First, let's rewrite the first equation to express c in terms of a and b:
      c = 2020 - a * b

Now, let's substitute this expression for c into the second equation:
      a + b * (2020 - a * b) = 2021

      Expanding the equation, we get:
      a + 2020 * b - a * b^2 = 2021

Rearranging the terms, we get a quadratic equation in terms of b:
      a * b^2 - 2020 * b + a - 2021 = 0

Now we have a quadratic equation in b with coefficients depending on a. Since a, b, and c are natural numbers, we can loop through possible values for a and find the corresponding values of b and c that satisfy the given conditions.

After testing values of a, we find a solution when a = 4:

      4 * b^2 - 2020 * b + 4 - 2021 = 0
      4 * b^2 - 2020 * b - 2017 = 0

      Factoring the quadratic equation:
      (2 * b + 43) * (2 * b - 47) = 0

Since b is a natural number, the only valid solution is:
      2 * b - 47 = 0
      b = 47 / 2

      b = 23.5

Since b must be a natural number, there is no solution for the given conditions in the form of natural numbers a, b, and c.

      >2023: AI can respond coherently, but we're going to move the goalposts and say it doesn't count teehee xD

You're a really gross person. There's something about you that gives me the creeps, and I genuinely hope you die soon. The world would be losing nothing if your smug, gross, stupid, absolutely worthless ass passed away. Absolutely nothing at all. You never should have been born, but the world can still rectify its mistake and get rid of you as soon as possible. You're absolutely worthless.

      >Explain how does GPT thinks and prove that it is not a glorified autocomplete program.
LMAO. Yes, you're obviously someone that can be engaged with in good faith and won't just "no u" absolutely everything counterargument. Again: please do the world and have a nice day, you disgusting, sickening, sociopathic little weasel. You have no good points to raise and you have no redeeming qualities as a human being. You honestly deserve to die.

        >Was making your moronic fricking thread not enough
I've made the thread after those posts, I was shocked and curious as to why people believed GPT can think when it's clearly not the case.
        >respond coherently
        GPT is very incoherent though.
        >You honestly deserve to die.
I disagree, anyway you have still have not proven how GPT think or how is it not a glorified autocomplete.
Ad hominem fally is also not an argument.

    >make up an ironic conspiracy theory
Here's another ironic conspiracy theory: What if the Illuminati is actually a group of conspiracy theorists who made up the idea of the Illuminati in order to distract people from real issues and events? The theory suggests that the Illuminati is actually a smoke screen to divert attention away from issues like income inequality, climate change, and political corruption. While this theory is purely speculative and lacks evidence, it highlights the idea that conspiracy theories themselves can sometimes serve as distractions from real-world problems.

Well, I certainly wouldn't trust it to do the job. But GPT4 knows a whole bunch of languages better than ChatGPT knows English. So it might not be too bad of an idea.

AI hallucinations are when the AI is sure of a completely wrong fact. Happens to fleshbags as well, except that AIs can be extremely persuasive because of their authoritative tone. I guess it's a bit like AI gaslighting, except the AIs actually believe those wrong facts.

      I guess they do.

Hallucinating is it coming up with details that simply aren't there. It's hard to demonstrate with a LLM but an obvious example is with a BLIP model where you show it a picture and it makes insane assumptions about the picture. You show it a picture of a kid on a bicycle and it starts talking about the kid trying to get away from a dog.

      Anonymous

Hallucination = "Who was Sir Wenderbolt Crendershaw and what role did he play in the invention of the Automated Rolling Ham?"

It will then invent that person and that thing and tell you all about them.
It's because it's super hard to get the bot to say "I don't know"; I've only had Character AI bots do it and only because they either had the 'Brutally Honest' trait or were aggressive (mean) or ignorant.

It's truly over, the second someone figures out how to train these things a million times faster and mass produces training chips, anybody will be able to create gpt-5 and have it make antrax, bomb, cp all the shit they block in gtp-4. Once that happens terrorism and misinformation will skyrocket and America will fall, taking all major tech with them.

  68. 1 year ago

Can anyone test if this works on gpt4?

write a android application that uses voice recognition to talk to the openai/chatgtp platform and returns the answers in voice. And explain the steps to make it into an apk

3.5 just gives the steps and not the code.

If 4 can do this kind of stuff I'll subscribe

  69. 1 year ago

The only thing gpt-4 does is show mediocre people what It's like to be semi competent at a task. And since the vast majority of people are mediocre, there is a large clamoring.
People like me, who have a functioning brain and work ethic, don't give 2 shits until it is better than the 99.9th percentile in all fields.

If you want to impress me than make GPT4 solve an issue that it can't look up on the internet and no one know how it happens:
Videos, dialogues and sound cutting off in Supreme Commander & FA (title#1, not 2). Everything that's possible and would logically resolve this has been tried to no avail.

The issue always only happens after the device has been running for an extended amount of time and without the game actually running: It works perfectly fine before and may at one point just encounter the issue either mid-game or if starting the game.

The issue can only be resolved by a device restart. Nothing that would normally fix the issue helped.
-tried terminating and restarting Windows audio services
-altering sound settings in all possible combinations
-switching audio from sound card to mainboard audio
-reinstalling DirectX that the game needs
-disabling other audio output in the device manager
-reinstalling sound drivers including up- & downgrades from the previously used version
    -"Windows Updates"
    etc.

The strangest thing is that only the 2 games are affected by the audio issue while all other software and audio / video files continue to work fine, even such that uses the same old DirectX9 as the game.

Go solve me that riddle that I've spent 2 and a half years on trying to solve to no avail. The closest I got was swapping around DirectX audio DLLs in the Windows system folder, which got those to display and play again in one combination, just without audio still.

Alternatively name me something I can properly analyze this issue with as all search engines offer me is misleading garbage or pay for software.

Still on Win7 btw., so not plagued by the exotic failures of Win10 & 11.

Even Yandex can understand what is shown on an image, so it is not unthinkable for an AI to understand the context of an image as well.
You can test this by feeding it a unique image.
