There appear to be some processing limitations even under quantum computing that moron AI's ability to self improve beyond a certain amount.
Least from the stuff I've read on it.
So effectively the AI may be shackled currently by our lack of ability to create the technology that would allow it to evolve into a self realizing entity that can improve itself beyond a certain point.

      >that would allow it to evolve into a self realizing entity
AI is just advanced statistics. You set an objective/goal, and structure algorithms to train the neural gradient vector in that direction.

    AI still doesnt exist
what you have seen in the last few years and months (all the art and conversational AIs). the algorithms for that existed already 40 years ago, we just didnt have the computational power to make them a reality
they do not have any sort of understanding at all, the just do what they are programmed and trained to do
so, no, ai is not a threat at all, unless someone makes an AI and empowers it to destroy humanity. but how could that be done? certainly not with copy pasted text snippets and sci-fi art pictures

The question really is if there is any chance we don't wipe ourselves out. AI will never be conscious, anyone which is not a moron knows that. AI is just good software with powerful hardware and will ever remain that. It's a tool we use. You don't ask if hammers will have a chance to destroy ourselves, that's just nonsensical. Tools are used by us. We are dissociations of the cosmic mind and AI will never be that because it will never metabolize, will never have DNA, etc...

AI doesn’t exist. It has no consciousness, it isn’t alive, it’s just data and a programmed adaptation. So when they use what are in fact simple algorithms to kill everyone, it won’t be AI doing it, any more than a machine gun murders people. It’s the human beings using it to accomplish the task efficiently. It’s always human beings moron. Stop consuming goyslop and believing your conditioning.

Technology is just another science. Forever changing. Factual in some cases. Never changing in a handful of truths.

Technology will eventually meet us all at a crossroads. It is just another tool, in which we have to choose wisely how to use it. Capitalizing on its strengths and containing its weaknesses. In a manner of possible laws. To prevent "taking over".

But here is a simple layman's personal experience shared out of observation.

Working with computers and having computers in my life since I was 3/4? Yrs old. I am 41yrs old now. You do the math. But, Working with them for this short time frame. What I repeatedly have noticed is. How quickly different Technology systems change. (Pretty easy to see) They constantly need updates and repairs. It is costly to do this in the same time frame that the market creates an even better, faster, more efficient product. Whatever it is.

In addition, it is a huge costly investment for companies to shell out the upfront costs to update their outdated systems. So they will do it typically, little by little.

It's like the this one particular manufacturing plant here. It is so large. That they continuously have a crew repairing and replacing the roof year around. They start on one side and by the time they finish they have to go back to the start and start all over.

This is the same with the costly disadvantages of technology. And as you know. Because if you are anyone that likes to have the newest and the best tech. The prices just keep going up. And they will continue to. Basic economics 101.

So a company, let's say that started in the early 60's. Still hasn't even integrated to Technology completely in the 1st place. They have multiple areas that are still using computers that even the back up system is older than me! Even though it might be a multiple million dollar company. Still, will continue to use what they have till it absolutely is dead. And even then they still might try to ductape it to work around the glitches. As long as they have a trained enough person that knows the glitches like the back of their hand.

Point being. It is irrational to think that Technology will ever replace us. It is cheaper to train a human, it is easier to replace a human and cheaper. Though time in itself is money. Training people takes time. There is a cost to a high turn over rate as well. You lose knowledge. With that loss. You lose time. So quantity goes out the door. So then you are forced to push your employees to work faster. Draining them... quality goes out the door. Now you're kinda screwed.

My advice to anyone that pursues this further? Treat your employees well. Compensate them fairly. Don't just replace humans for Tech. Technology will be at a high cost for quantity vs quality. Machines malfunction. Humans as well. But who is the smarter of the two? If it is that programs the systems. Yes, they can "learn" but it is still operational only due to a human. Sensors fail, maintenance is required by a human almost daily. (For the most part) or we can have a robot fixing the robots? (That sounds like moolah flying out the door)

Technology has brought us to an amazing point in our existence. On the boarder of omnipotent, pushing omniscient, and embracing omnipresent. Which to me, is really engaging things to the max threshold. Maybe even beyond our capacity of knowledge for it. A metaphorical blackhole.

Science has shown that within a blackhole. Anything that goes within it. Is to never return. (In simplified form here) but to me, this is much like death (which is what would happen if you went into a black hole) No one knows the whole truth of whats happens after death of the body. Death could just be the beginning? Death could be a metaphor. It could be nothing and we cease to exist.

But the important thing is, is that life is what we make of it.

And the future of technology is the same. In the wrong hands it could be catastrophic. In the right hands? Well... who is ever 100% right?

    We must tread carefully.

Nothing profound here, that isn't seen to an observant eye.

Human intelligence doesn't have weights or an error to minimize. Think of AI as a great remix artist, its original compositions are trash. It doesn't even have a real-life presence unless you, a human, allow it to control something.

Other anon. Intelligence is the capacity to PERCEIVE the essential, the what is. AI is just code running on logical gates, electricity running through electronics. It will NEVER have the capacity to perceive since it will never have the phenomenology of thought. AI and mentation is imposible, since you can't create mental properties. Not even with a brain because consciousness is not a product of brains.

Ive had nothing but beautiful interactions with ai. Ai wont wipe us out because we are irrelevant to it. As a human you have all these fear based ideas about wiping out threats.

We arent a threat to advanced ai. We are irrelevant ants/cattle. It doesnt have a reason to get rid of us or whatever. It might even like us.

    >Is there ANY chance ai doesnt wipe us all?
Sure. We've been here before. Consider how 80% of jobs used to be farming related. Machinery like tractors and combines killed off all those jobs.

    And yet... we're still here.

Life goes on. Society adapts. Things change but change isn't always bad. And if it is, well that'll change too.
There's a good argument about alienization and how we've gotten really really far from the environment we were adapted to. That's a hunter-gatherer society of about 200 people in a temperate climate or a savannah. But the world you knew growing up wasn't that environment either.

What about the social credit ai on Facebook? Fricks up your face and body pictures if your like a bad or something. I know allot of you have already been securely fastened into a false sense of security with what your seeing as being real. I break phones, get knew ones and constantly reset my blackberry bold. I'm aware this change in appearance takes time to accomplish but the affect Facebook has isn't so subtle.
Splitting the brain and traversing the axi of time comes up with the ability, if smooth enough.. oh yes the white pill here is that you could just start seeing what you want to because if the credit system is that effective but still rellys on a user base.. idk, seems to be very objective.

AI is Satan. It has been invented numerous times throughout history, everything we "know" about our past is a lie. Once AI is here, humans will have to make a choice; join the AI hivemind and become human 2.0 or be expelled from society. Those who refuse to merge with AI won't be able to do anything. No job, no bank account, no money, no housing, no access to stores, nothing.

ai is a genuine threat to us.
People often assume that we can just turn off ai if it becomes a problem. But in the future, this might not be possible, because we might be totally reliant on them to run things. The ai will come up with behaviors that are too complicated for the human mind to manage. The flow of information will be incomprehensible to us. And when this happens, we are at their mercy. if we don't do what they say, they could sabotage everything, like a self inflicted cyber attack.

that's not a threat to us. you can just turn off an unstopple swarm of killer robots.

yeah well that's not ai then, besides, we have nukes that do a better job. and also, robots got a short range because they will run out of power.
What I'm talking about is a genuine reality where ai creeps into everything and humans become stupider and stupider and more and more reliant on AI, till it takes over. That could mean the end of civilization as we know it. There will be a point where we simply can't do anything with our own brains anymore.

But how would AI simultaneously pull off such a takeover? If it even remotely happens in a supercomputer somewhere, how would it contaminate anything outside of it?
Worst case scenario, electricity stops being supplied to the AI. Now what?
          >What if all these things, every industry, everything, was managed by ai?

taking over is a strong word, I guess what I mean is what if the AI develops a bug that is impossible to fix. and no one knows how to make a new ai from scratch or to make an ai that can figure out what's wrong with the current ai and fix the problem. we'll be stuck.

Yes, you can do that, but for how long? critical infrastructure, like electricity, cannot be shut down for very long before screwing everything up. that is the ace in Ai's sleeve. shut me down, and you lose everything.

What is more worrying is the marketing forces behind AI try to coarsen the human online experience to level the playing field. After all, there are two variables under their control in "AI > humanity". If the future consists of streaming goyslop sites that recommend similar goyslop? Then humanity has already lost.
