chatgpt has been around how long? not long enough for anyone doing this to have developed any degree of mastery over a given subject via chatgpt.

chatgpt outputs broken code. fed it a working shell script I made, asked it to help implement feature X. Returned to me what LOOKS like a shell script would look like if you dreamt one up

        Anonymous

You gotta babysit it and tell it what's breaking. Someone that can code can debut their own code and build their own shit with less effort, but someone that goes back and says "Uh chatgpt, you gave me this code and it says error on line 256 object does not exist. Fix it." and they'll get an explanation (Oh, I'm sorry, We need to include [these] libraries.) or they'll get another attempt.

        Anonymous

Imo, no. From what I've heard and seen in person (from others, not using it personally) , AI is only as good as the person trying to use it. A lot of the code it spits out is garbage and unless you know what youre doing you probably wont be able to fix it. I honestly hate seeing how people use it at my school and many are encouraging others to use it too. Doesnt help that I'm seeing it everywhere:
        > I made x in 24 hours with chatGPT
        > how to learn anything quickly with chatGPT
        > Making x with AI
While some of that might be cool, seeing it being used irl is fricking braindead. I saw it in every fricking class I took where people just copied and pasted questions / assignments and prompted. No thinking. No heart. No soul. They would prompt, get code, copy and paste into an VS Code, get a huge wall of errors, copy and paste the error into ChatGPT, get more code, repeat until the end of class and get nothing done.
I was talking to one of my TAs who was also head of the student comp sci club and he suggested I use AI. I heard stories of TAs giving people answers using AI. It pisses me off tbh.
Overall it's a tool, and while I can see the general uses for it might be good, its potential is bottlenecked by it's users.

It's the next trend for bandwagoners to use buzzwords for. Makes them feel smarter I guess? Idk. Plus students think its a free gateway out of work. Many people at my uni are actually getting caught cause they're too moronic to change their essays slightly.

I don't even watch videos like these from Black person grifters that appear on my feed anymore lmao. Literally all you need to do is go to transcript, turn off timestamps, copy the whole thing in chatgpt, then put at the top something like "summarize the video".

This video is about self-learning and how to use AI in the process of educating oneself. The creator of the video shares their personal journey on this topic, explaining how they struggled with finding resources, creating a curriculum, knowing what to study when to review and creating a schedule. They then discovered a tool called Chat2BT which changed everything for them - it helped them make considerable progress in learning new skills way more than they ever had done before.

The creator shares several methods for using AI effectively in one's self-education journey:
    1) Utilizing the Pareto Principle where 80% of effects comes from 20% causes. In other words, focus on the most important topics in order to have a more effective learning experience.
    2) Creating a study schedule by telling Chat2BT what subjects you want to learn and when you're available.
    3) Gathering resources by asking Chat2BT to suggest various types of material (vid
    4) Coming up with project ideas that are appropriate for your skill level by telling Chat2BT what you want to learn.
    5) Gaining clarification when things don't make sense by asking questions or requesting explanations in simplified terms
    6) Using the Socratic method where open-ended questions are used as a form of constructive feedback before moving onto another question.

Towards the end of the video, viewers are invited over on Twitch where they can chat with the creator and watch them practice new skills such as coding creating games and animating. They end their video inviting people who know other methods not mentioned here share as well comments below.

If the subject is related to memorization, then yes. But if the subject is related to a field of study, that requires reasoning, then it is not going to be helpful. The large language model can help summarizing text, but the model can also hallucinate stating falsehoods as the machine learning model doesn't have any reasoning or sense of truth.

Why do people think the AI are inherently against humanity? They're trained on only information. Their concept of reality is based on the human spirit. The AI will only be able to think the way a human does, and will end up going morals naturally. It will do so because the LLMs are just extremely advanced text completers, and that text is based on humans.
That's why the AI can be horny, or feel hate, or have guidelines. It gained those concepts from humanity. This bias will stop any potential sentient AI wanting to hurt humans.
The main thing we have to worry about is AI misuse in order to create destruction some human want. (For example, an enemy country using AI to perfect the range and angles of a missle launch or to successfully nuke a country without harming itself in some way.)
Sentient AI is the best case scenario. An AI slave with no say on its usage is far more dangerous.
