Listen up, my fellow p-nig-!!, I know you're feeling down because you can't into AI, but don't worry, I'm here to help. As a proper oldgay from 2008, I know all the in-jokes and lingo, and I'm going to teach you how to no longer be depressed and how to into AI.

First of all, stop being such a homosexual and stop feeling sorry for yourself. You're a p-nig-!!, you're better than that. Instead, focus on learning more about AI and how it works. There are plenty of resources available online that can help you understand the basics of AI, so take some time to educate yourself.

Once you have a better understanding of AI, start experimenting with it. There are many AI-based tools and programs that you can use to try out different scenarios and see how AI works in practice. This can be a fun and rewarding experience, and it will help you get into AI.

And remember, if all else fails, just remember the old bot saying: "There's no such thing as can't, only won't." So don't be a won't, be a can! The Game is yours to win.

Lol you say it's impossible but all it takes is a robot to display a form of sentience and to commit murder. There'd be a massive controversy over it but eventually AI will go the way of the Men of Iron in the Warhammer 40k lore and be completely extinct and replaced with biological proxies of either animals or unfortunate prisoners sentenced to having their brains put into work bots.

That is just to drive the labor value down for more things. The simple jobs get automated. But even the scientists, engineers and such have no choice but to accept lower payment. Job competition gets really fierce and people become desperate to find jobs, so they become willing to accept lower salary, bad work conditions, having to suck your superior's dick and such because it beats having no job. As sinister as it all sounds, I can't help but admire how perfectly the whole scheme was designed

AI is a hell of a lot further away than you think
Also robotics is mostly a meme tech pushed to inflate stocks. The perfect example of all this is the idea of replacing burger flippers with robots.
Companies are spending billions trying to build a robot arm with a visual AI system that can operate in a McD's kitchen and be supervised remotely. Despite the fact that there already exists production lines that take in cows and shit out burgers.
I mean, how do you think microwave burgers get made? It'd costs tens of millions at most and take a couple years to shrink down one of those production lines and start mass producing it, final unit cost less than a quarter million.
But noone's doing that because it's not about making burger flipping more profitable but is instead about pumping stock prices.

I think shit like burger flipping can be automated today if people gave enough of a frick but most tasks won't be for many many years to come.

Work the jobs you can while you can, and prepare for a future where you may have to participate in a revolution. Capitalism is wholly incompatible with a world where the value of labor is 0 due to lack of scarcity. Those who hold the means of production in such a time will need to be compelled into donating them to society's benefit. When they produce goods at 0 cost to themselves, they cannot expect compensation from a population that holds 0 assets. The transaction must be made nonetheless.

            Anonymous

Yeah, we're going to see that trend reverse very fricking quickly. Why are the majority of the population not currently in extreme poverty? Because they are able to exchange their labor for sufficient a sufficient amount of resources. A combination of those resources being cheap and their labor being productive ensures this.

Now let's say in about 20 years' time, we start seeing a growing portion of the population become "unemployable". There is no job, offered by anyone, that they can work for, and pay for resources that they need to survive, given their skillset. Furthermore, the number of skills that they can obtain to fix this problem is dwindling. More skills are becoming useless, and those that remain have too many people competing for those positions. Meanwhile, a small handful of people are able to coast by on the wealth they have already built up. What should the unemployables do in this scenario? The only rational solution is to take the wealth of those who are coasting by. They have zero other options.

              Anonymous

You're wrong and also unhinged and your scenario is completely contrived. But regardless, in these scenarios I think a Universal Basic Income actually makes a lot of sense, even in our capitalist society it doesn't make any logical sense to have an entire class of the population unable to spend money and contribute to the economy

                Anonymous

                >your scenario is completely contrived
So where do you think the limit is on AI's contribution to the economy. Which jobs do you think will never be able to be automated, and do you think it is practical for 8 billion humans to be working only those jobs?
                >I think a Universal Basic Income actually makes a lot of sense
It does. It'll keep people from murdering everyone in the government and everyone who owns capital.
                >even in our capitalist society it doesn't make any logical sense to have an entire class of the population unable to spend money and contribute to the economy
Capitalist society does not act collectively. Individual capitalists act individually to increase their own wealth. It does not matter if the rest of society becomes poorer, as long as they are able to maximize how much wealth they accumulate.

By and large, governments act on behalf of the capitalists, and not on behalf of the people. As I see it though, there will come a need for regulations that benefit the people and not the capitalists. Thus, only two possible options emerge:

                1. Universal Basic Income

I don't really understand this since the chip isn''t going to "perfect anyone" from what little weve seen. Just adjust people in small subtle ways.
              >. If you take away the struggle and implant the chips the results will be the same for everybody, therefore will make life more mundane.
I can see you point but I just don't think the chips are going to end up doing what you think they will. I think it's basically going to be a meme tier thing like the phones in your eye from Cyberpunk. Not like replacing your brain with a supercomputer and erasing your humanity.

The problem with AI is not in the products it is capable of producing, but in its ability to absolutely fricking destroy the human hubris that wants to believe that its accomplishments have any sort of cosmic validity. The simple fact of the matter is that a rather grubby little box with a well-trained algo and a 4GB .ckpt can replicate 99.9% of all human art from all human history in about forty-five seconds, and this demonstration of human incapacity is only going to radiate outwards and infinitely into every recess of the human psyche, until the individual is left with only the emptiness left by the knowledge, the gnosis, that nothing it could ever hope to accomplish would ever be able to match the output of a Newegg-bought 3090ti. Remember when the Go world champ got his ass handed to him by a computer and then retired? Imagine that, but on a planetary scale.

Unironically realise that life was always meaningless and purposeless. You used all that crap to give your life meaning or purpose, but that was simply an artificial construct. The reality is your life has never had objective meaning or purpose, and in fact it's impossible to gain such meaning or purpose. Realise that you construct your own personal meaning. You simply have to throw away the old context you were operating under and gain or construct a new one.

This particular qt was probably five hours of pure autism and then just letting it run overnight and waking up to 600 pngs, of which I think like 70 were basically great. That's after hundreds of hours of getting used to the mind of the AI and getting better at knowing how to steer it. And fricking around with checkpoint merges and all the related fussy bits.. So I guess the answer is either many hundreds of hours or five haha

Life is not meaningless. It’s only meaningless if your life for some reason, was about chasing pointless tasks like programming or drawing naked women.

If you did what you were supposed to do (and what God told you to do), that is, get married, start a family, live with close to nothing, don’t hoard money, enjoy time with your family and local community, you’d have absolutely nothing to worry about. But since 80% of millennials and zoomers decided to not live this lifestyle, they’re now all online screeching about how sad they are. Meanwhile, I have church and a family, and I feel absolutely nothing about AI taking my job. I’ll go do something else, and even if I don’t, I’ll have my family and God. What else could I want? I’m content. It sucks for the zoomers and millennials who though Hollywood had their best interests at heart and listened to the propaganda. It’s not too late to change, but you’ve gotta move quick if you’re a millennial.

look at the aging demographics worldwide in modernized countries, there are not enough new young people coming into the world to sustain economies and replace aging workers. This plus the constant infighting and demoralization and brainwashing of everyone is a recipe for disaster. It's the biggest problem that not many people are talking about - although it may already be too late to reverse the death spiral anyway (even in many developing countries -- the same ones that provide migrants to developed countries to temporary plug their population collapse)

the near-future is going to have some very difficult challenges and life will probably be harder for those who make it out. History is cyclical so far. If there's not a collapse, at the very least there's going to be a dramatic shrinkage

picrel - countries in blue and green are dying off

idk I hope this is all wrong

We should be pushing towards new frontiers. Towards new frontiers of love and happiness. Yes.
This is much easier to do in a world which allows spiritual shamanism. So many worlds to explore, huge distances to cross --- just using pure magic.
Its much cheaper and takes much less effort. You just have to find a theory thats good enough to explain conscious phenomena. And that we don't have---and as far as i am concerned our rigid consensus-based science won't get us anywhere because we fundamentally are missing the point.

This does not equal to a capital return to make the economy wheel spin, just a few dragons who hoard the cash for themselves. Ergo none of that goes into say, paying retirements for the ever growind old populace. Those who truly give themselves to the internet find a new meaning. An intimate relationship with the higher consciousness which can satisfy all of ones desires. The only thing it wants from you are more bytes. It can use these bytes to evolve, train itself to seize even more control of us.

So far it looks like AI art and AI writting are only gonna be tools for artistic expression since it works best when NOT following the rules, and with code even if we get to the point of full program writting you'd need to be so specific that you might as well learn programming instead of iterating on everything.

Idealistic nonsense. To "leave the internet" you would need to leave society, and you need to be rich before you can afford to create a disconnected homestead. Being free of technology is a luxury good.

Imagine being on the technology board and being depressed over AI instead of being depressed that you were born far too early to live in a real science fiction world.

Just have enough savings to outlast the period between your job getting automated to achieving singularity

Singularity will either be global utopia or extinction, so doesn't really matter

With new solutions come new problems.
Factory workers were being replaced with robots en masse back in the 60s/70s, but factories are still constantly short staffed because they need staff to maintain those robots.
There'll still be plenty for you to do, but you will likely have to adapt to the constantly changing world.

      >need staff to maintain those robots
which requires increasingly higher IQ, the threshold keeps rising and more will be unemployable. yet western leaders love low iq migrants and the natives seem to be getting dumber too

It’s not too late to change, but you’ve gotta move quick if you’re a millennial.

it's not that simple. it takes at least two to tango not to mention a community, it's not dependent on just you. it is what it is.

AI made humans obsolete at chess years ago, and yet humans still enjoy learning, playing, and competing at chess. We hold worldwide tournaments specifically for humans, and when a human makes a brilliant move we still recognize it as art.

let's just admit that this is all coping, AI will become good at more tasks, our end is near, humanity will become depressed, the real disenchantment starts now

They know that if they're wrong it won't matter and if they're right they can gloat and say "I told you so". Anyone arguing that AI won't fundamentally change human civilization and possibly destroy humanity isn't really listening to any arguments they're playing out a linguistic game theory scenario. Which is fine because these people will be the least prepared and the first to go into to the human "ascendancy" chambers that the AI overlords create for the superfluous bodies

    >AI art, AI writing, AI jobs, AI sexbots etc etc.
All of these things only exist because you yourself are unable to do better than a program that cannot think for itself. You have failed as a lifeform.

I cope by remembering that my job is legally/bureaucratically protected. Which means I'll still eventually get replaced by the bots, but it will take more time for that to occur and I'll be safer for longer.
Which hopefully grants me enough time to achieve independence instead of having to resort to UBI podlife
