why not let ChatGPT debug the code?
Do you let the moron who just broke production try to fix it alone?
Yes.
that's literally what happens in the first panel
The person that broke something 90% of the time is the best person to know what and where to fix.
The other 10% of the time, they broke something in a really weird or obscure way and it needs a senior, DBA or infrastructure guy to fix.
>once brought a production system down for 4 hours because change scripts broke replication
>post mortem revealed I hadn't actually done anything wrong and the changescript should have been ok but our process for handling replication changes always had a tiny chance of shitting itself due to the load on the servers.
Fun times. Having a department head walk around loudly saying how many millions in lost sales the downtime was costing was also fun (she had a habit of piling stress on developers, she's now left and the job is orders of magnitude less stressful).
>Having a department head walk around loudly saying how many millions in lost sales the downtime was costing
smile and think about how the CEO jannies have to clean up after the code jannies mistakes
>aitard schizo rambling
I'm not reading that
all the time.
Why did you let the chat bot push to prod???????
As opposed to bringing in a new person to maintain someone else's code?
people already know
it's still pretty damn impressive, but when it fricks up, it fricks up with extreme confidence
although this usually works, an annoying amount of the time, it ends up with some kind of mental block and continues fricking up
>it's still pretty damn impressive, but when it fricks up, it fricks up with extreme confidence
must have been trained on BOTtards
>have comments that explain what every line of the code
>wow, chat GPT can parse and understand code
Ok, now put there any code without comments, it works 95% of the time. This thing even knows when you put there some videogame mod and will tell you from what game the mod is without mentioning the name of the game anywhere in the code.
You dont use chatgpt to write code you use it to optimize and analyze code dummy
Just like art AI is generating heaps and mounds of absolute shit art and a few decent pictures, code AI is going to generate heaps and mounds of absolute shit code with a few decent applications, it's going to be disposable and completely unmaintainable trash and there is going to be so fricking much of it, it doesn't matter that you're not supposed to use it that way, just like you could touch up AI art to make it look perfect, nobody actually does that they just keep rolling and generating more imperfect shit. The only difference is that art is harmless but code can be used to run critical applications that can lead to death.
>These evolutionary computer systems may almost appear to demonstrate a kind of sentience as they dispense graceful solutions to complex problems.
>But this apparent intelligence is an illusion caused by the fact that the overwhelming majority of design variations tested by the system— most of them appallingly unfit for the task— are never revealed.
>it's going to be disposable and completely unmaintainable trash and there is going to be so fricking much of it
so not too unlike the current state of things?
>art is harmless
have you ever been to /misc/? it proves memes can end lifes. and im not taking about trains necking themselfs
Chudartists will never be automated. Unlike what artists claim, AI is spectacularly bad at copypasting chunks of images, which is what Chudartists do with Wojacks.
>Just like art AI is generating heaps and mounds of absolute shit art and a few decent pictures
So just like internet artists
It misses obvious issues sometimes.
It only works for somewhat simple stuff, as soon as I start asking it for complex code it fricks up. It exists in a weird space where it's like utilisnips on crack and gives you 80% of what you need to type but you still need to know how to fix what it shits out, sometimes its faster to just do it yourself. It's not going to replace all of our jobs but it's not "just cleverbot" either
cope monkey
i laughed
Do you think anyone cares how many hours Pajeets work?
This thread was created by a stackoverflow janny.
Are you panicking knowing the very little relevance you hold in your live is quickly vanishing you simian?
Good.
the trick is that under this new paradigm bugs are the new feature
>ask chatgpt for code
>gives code
>run the code
>works
How is it not correct?
This. Sometimes the code is incorrect but it's usually pretty minor stuff and often you can just point it out and ask for a fix.
>ask GPT to write a class that properly implements an interface and communicates with the rest of your codebase
>it shits itself
Wtf u on with interfaces and shit???
>AI shitters don't even understand simple programming language concepts
>gpt is trained on data
>coding data tainted with the sabotage of pajeets and incompetents that should've never touched anything more advanced than a kerosene lamp
>surprised that the generative pre-trained program oftentimes fricks up code like it was copypasta'd from stackexchange
Garbage in, garbage out.
this is the entire problem with AI and why it annoys me even aside from threatening jobs: it's basically a mediocrity-machine because it can only ever produce some average of the (inevitably flawed) human-generated training data
Being consistently average is nothing to frick with.
software devs really think they're special lol
What makes you special?
Yeah, irreplaceable, just like uh, ya know...
uh...
frick
ChatGPT has a soul.
Not an impressive soul mind you, but something like a shitty little pathetic soul.
Does the AI comment code?
>reddit memes
Sure I believe you OP. Post your folder full of screaming Black person gifs from twitter and clickbait websites while you're at it.
pedo gtfo
>Career programmers are actually panicking now
KEK, thats what you get for getting into coding for the money, frick outta here and leave us alone
> anon please run your code through the corporate provided AI coder assist to ensure you have written your code as efficiently as possible
My favorite thing is how cleanly and clearly this reveals how many people on BOT are just plain dumb and how many at least have something resembling an intelligent programmer's brain.
Go into any ChatGPT and you'll see roughly equal numbers of
>moron posts one prompt, "HURR IT DOESN'T WORK, STUPID THING", keeps trying the same thing over and over
and
>guy keeps toying with gaming the system, analyzing how it reacts and/or refuses to respond to certain prompts, and coming up with clever ways to outmaneuver it into outputting something funny
We really do have midwits in our midst. They could be in this very thread RIGHT NOW
Like Google, its usefulness directly correlates with your ability to ask it the right questions
it works for me because I'm a dogshit coder who can barely remember how to make a class, but I understand the control flow and can debug. gonna be a lot of people like me I bet
>hey AI i want to interface our main MCU with the magnetometer IC working on the SPI bus, i want the readings DMA'd to memory at 1000Hz
>i want the main MCU to also switch the power FET and generate the x.xV and y.yV voltage rails
>in case of any safety thresholds are breached please shut down the system safely
>also please make sure the code can pass A,B,C,D certifications
>great, here's the PDF of the schematics and pin assignments and datasheets for all the parts
Yeah I'm sure AI can do this
It will in the future. It's at the level of 80iq average pajeets currently. Can make simple stuff but fricks up a lot.
That sound feasible even for current ChatGPT
its being used to draw up contracts for rental properties with specific bylaws for city/county etc taken into account and itemized
again, it really matters with how you phrase your requests
