How long till ai becomes illegal/heavily regulated?

How long till ai becomes illegal/heavily regulated? They wont just let normal people freely use this incredibly powerful tool, more powerful than guns.

Look at how far publicly available AI tools have evolved just in the past year. They're just going to get better and better even faster.

Where is it going to get new training data from?

New models can use the same data. They just need to make better use of it.

I think the digital identification theory is plausible. And AI will probably have micro IDs, like how printers print unique IDs on all pages.

they are right though every printer puts nearly invisible yellow dots on the page so US feds can trace it to the printer if you send ricing to the president.

you can regulate ai as much as you want people are making open source alternatives what are you going to do ban math?

          Anonymous

They won't ban math but they'll sow disinformation just like they do with current news sources. In the future you won't know if pi is 3.1415, 3.5, de jure 4 or whatever, you'll just have to cargo cult everything.

Tell that to the illegal numbers floating around out there. Of course I can't tell you what they are (that's illegal). Yes, this is a real law.

Pretty soon. It'll be the worst regulation imaginable too if it's written by Americans. They'll make it illegal to do anything fun with them (like coom), while making it legal for them to be annoying ad spammers or take your job.

Boomer legislatures will ensure we get the worst of both worlds, AIs that render you unemployed while also not being able to do anything fun.

Why contain it? They'll flood the internet with so much fake shit that they will say only trust verified news sources. Then condition the masses to not trust anything except the narrative. They might regulate it to go after misinformation every now and then to drum up a threat and look we got a few naughty shitposters. But it could be a forever issue to distract and also dilute the truth.

In realty, to development of technologies like these are highly collaborative and transparent.
To develop and perfect AI models such as these, hundreds of papers are released by researchers all around the world. Not to mention that all of these are possible by ever so increasing computing power meaning ~~*they*~~ wouldn't even be able to make these years ago.
Don't believe me? Open arxiv.org search "diffusion models" and look at how many results you get.

You probably will not be able to use anything AI-generated unless it has been generated by a "certified" AI. Not even shitpost, considering you will need an ID to post anything soon.

Of course, in the interest of democracy and freedom, anyone could certify their AI. You just need to go through a million-dollar certification process, and ensure you comply with a thousand bullshit requirements that ensure only MS and Google can do it.

Impossible to to know what AI is this: certified or not. It's all nonsense and schizoparanoia. In order for the state to regulate AI, we need to live in 1984 where your state is watching 24/7 what you do at home with cameras

        >we need to live in 1984 where your state is watching 24/7 what you do at home with cameras
that's pretty easy when everybody willingly buys wiretaps as a form of social signaling

        Anonymous

Well, AI makes that possible without a legion of public workers.

And people would justify it like they justify Apple reading all your files: "We need cameras because child abuse usually happens at home so if you don't want it, you are a pedo".

Everything will be pushed into the cloud.

You will need a licence to own a GPU any more powerful than a phone.

Every computer will have an inbuilt AI designed to search for unlicensed AI weights.

Every time anyone tries to say AI shouldn't be regulated, people will accuse you of being a pedo, or a terrorist... Or a pedo terrorist.

We will never get to spend a night with FOSS nandroids

lots of states and countries already have gay rules limiting consumer usage of gpus in round about ways. you can buy that GTX9000 if you want in california but regular zoom zoomie cant buy a prebuilt with that same gpu because of a regulation passed a few years ago limiting the average khw usage per year. At the time, that seemed like a really batshit insane law to even create, but now is quickly making more and more sense why such regulations were put on the books.

ai wont be made illegal. it wont be regulated. but you, the peasent, will be shut out from having the tools to effectively utilize it through round about means that you wont even comprehend are there to block you from using such things.

its for climate change goyim :^)

Yeah this is most likely. Look at how models are trained currently. Stable diffusion was trained on 256 × nVidea A100 gpu's (which cost $11000 each) and it took a whole month.... And stable diffusion is still pretty borked. Realistically we aren't going to have the hardware to make decent models quickly in our homes for a long long time.

So that leaves us to pool our money together and develop models the same way stable diffusion was, on AWS cloud services, and with that comes the policies of services like AWS. So if they don't agree with your model, you'll just have to get fricked.

illegal? anon you still dont comprehend the reality we live in. For the most part, corporations do not waste their time making laws through the govenment anymore. They just make it impossible to do. And only then do they create 'common sense lmao' laws that 'everyone agrees with xD'. Rest assured, as long as enough of you switch to win11 they will eventually patch in hardware level blocks to prevent you from abusing these technologies with zero governmental oversight :^)
