How are people going to cope with the massive lack of purpose and meaning crisis after AI takes over all jobs? Seems like there will be a lot of suicide and the human population will dwindle to a fraction of what it is now.

I don't think either one of you realize how much purpose, structure, and meaning a jobs gives you in life. If anything can be had for free due to AI, what makes our lives worth living in the long run? Struggle at least gives us some direction.

People in a post scarcity society could still find work it would just be volunteering on some sort of passion project. Imagine something like Guédelon Castle. Its a bunch of volunteers working to build a castle for the sake of building a castle.

lol. lmao even. If anything, there will be artificial scarcity to better control the few human livestock they'll keep around.

The castle project is also an experiment in rediscovering the techniques used in those times. It's one thing to theorize, and then another to actually do it. The lessons learned in that castle have also been applied to rebuilding Notre Dame.

50/50 loads of suicide or loads of people getting hobbies that are vaguely job-like

Also mass produced furniture hasn't eliminated handmade furniture.

There will always be jobs for the slave underclass, so long as the elites need your flesh to survive, and take delight in torturing living things.

I really don't understand the idea of deriving meaning or purpose from work. Not even a NEET, I've been working as a lawyer for 7 years now, but it's just a pay check to me. If I could still buy stuff without doing my job, I'd never work another day.

The funny part is that once musk robots take your jobs. Your only way to adapt will be as a cyborg. But even then any idea or inventions you create will be taken by musk neuralink. Either way you loose. Then musk satellites will be able to tra k you globally if you don't like the system

Men and Women, two (2) genders officially recognized by God, will attend more meaningful or skilled responsibilities if conglomerates retain significant weight in businesses in chain manufacturing. Your small business itself will retain the meaning behind honest labour given that it does not flock to sin, of course. God bless you all.

It will. Suicide, drug addiction, depression, violence. Its natural population control, better than dysgenic freak Bill Gates deciding who lives and dies.

We throw the entire financial elite into gulags and nationalize the banking sector, then move onto the billionaire oligarchs hiding their wealth in offshore accounts by bombing those islands to pieces
Then we de-industrialize and adopt a quasi Amish lifestyle with minimal consumption outside of what is necessary, and harmony with nature and an emphasis on spirituality over materialism

Yeah sounds terrible. Good thing we’re far more likely to nuke ourselves back to the Stone Age before that ever happens.
