I would believe this. In my mandatory WRITING and ART classes during my PHYSICS degree, the people actually majoring in those fields had the writing skills of a typical middle schooler, which is sufficiently nonsensical for AI to pass the Turing test.

You should learn to write anon. It helps you to clarify your thoughts and forces you to formalize ideas which may have only been vague notions earlier. It's a skill that strengthens both your critical thinking abilities as well as your capacity to make strong arguments. Almost all great thinkers who ever lived were also great writers.

There's no point in having great ideas if you lack the tools to express them.

I wish. School is a scam and made me hate things I loved.

Yeah it's honestly embarrassing to read or listen to the writing of your classmates 99% of the time. I'm not a great writer, but these people are horrific. I'll never understand how people struggle in a class on the language they've always spoken and constantly think in.

ai can't write anything good, so I guess the teacher can't tell the difference since all of them are idiots

No, that's exactly it. Professors don't actually read anything. I can attest to this anecdotally. They read the first paragraph to make sure it's on topic and run the rest through a grammar/spell checker. If there's a bibliography they might look that over too, but they're not actually checking those sources.
I used this to my advantage in both high school and college.

Is American secondary education really this fricked?
For my Bachelor's degree in physics I had almost no other topics and even then three years was just barely enough to scratch the surface of the field.
If I had to waste my time on fricking arts even after finishing school I might just kill myself.

Almost certainly the writing classes that Anon took didn't teach him how to properly write technical documents though.

I've actually taken both technical, and argumentative writing classes. You need both to be "good at writing" imo. It's important to be able to writing convincingly (rhetorical) as well as understandably (technical).

Yes, our public education is so bad that universities require "general education" courses, often shortened to "gen eds"
In my experience these courses include:
        >English
        >math
        >science
        >history
        >social sciences, be it anthropology, psychology, or sociology
        >a foreign language, that nobody learns to speak well
        >arts
None of these courses goes into sufficient depth and they really are just high school level courses for the most part, albeit slightly faster. There's still a lot of people that shouldn't pass these courses (that still do, because a low pass rate means the professor and the university are bad!)

Usually its classes people take before they formally declare that they will be majoring in something. If you went to a decent highschool followed by a decent college you can usually just take an exam to not have to take most of them.

Text is an important part of many conversations. AI can create text that sounds natural and is grammatically correct. However, can AI generate text that is natural and grammatically correct enough to be considered human text? This is a difficult question to answer because the definition of natural and grammatically correct varies between people. AI can create text that sounds natural and is grammatically correct; however, this text may not be considered human text.

      >no, it's not
AI text is definitely advanced enough to pass as human text! I mean, just think about all of the things that AI can do that humans can't. It can process information faster, it can remember things more accurately, and it can definitely write more coherently than most humans can.

Sure, there are some people out there who can write pretty well, but they're definitely the exception rather than the rule. Most people's writing is full of errors, both grammatical and factual. AI text, on the other hand, is always error-free.

Plus, AI text is often more interesting to read than human text. That's because AI can generate ideas that humans would never think of. That's what makes AI text so fascinating - it's like reading the thoughts of a completely different intelligence.

it's not, you have no idea how transformers work

No im not gonna reas your cope and seethe trash articles. You are the css front end designer of science. I took statistics and calculus and so in college and I know that backpropagation to adjust weights to minimize a cost function has nothing to do with general intelligence. dilate.

I don't get this "AI isn't self aware, therefore it isn't actually simulating a task that traditionally requires a human brain to do" argument. I personally don't think an intelligence needs to be self aware if it's artificial. I'd say even a calculator is AI in the most rudimentary sense.

The very concept of the inner monologue is a false construct.
One cannot empirically label another about his or her mindset.

      >One cannot empirically label another about his or her mindset.

Youre actually wrong, if you have enough experience you can tell whose have a very basic/low mindset and who doesnt

If youre trained of course, you can point out basic giveaways such as the uses of very basic dogmas/constant use of dogmatic-like reasoning and so on

      >You cannot do this (doesnt elaborate)
      >This is a false construct (doesnt elaborate despite making a bold claim)

You CAN label other people, in fact you can have accuracy in your "labeling"

        >>You cannot do this (doesnt elaborate)
Of course I will not explain it further after all we share the same abstract concepts right?

You still havent elaborated your claims

So in reality you could literally be simply wrong even if youre not aware yourself that youre wrong

Also people having "monologues" doesnt literally imply we all have the exact same abstract concepts

Regardless you can "empirically label others peoples mindsets", things such as IQ tests and concepts work towards this lol

Its more of a one way mirror.

The idea being misleading (unable to be grasped by mentally moronic people) doesnt mean its a false construct lol

This one was trained on some scholarly research papers
    https://bellard.org/textsynth/
It can write about some concepts well that are surprising, like 'explain your epistemology in regards to x.' It also includes citations, but many are incorrect, attributed to a writer in a different field, or the writer/research paper doesn't seem to exist at all. I used it because I had writers block once and another time when I just didn't have time to write my other paper that was due. I had to edit it. And I noticed it has a distinct style. It uses short sentences and periods rather than joining clauses with a comma, for example. It also writes in passive voice a lot.
