if everyone is on UBI what the frick is the AI even doing at that point?

Become a nurse! 6 figure salary, work 3 days a week w/ 12 hour shifts and as much overtime as you want, never worry about employment/interviews (you can get a job anywhere), if you work at a good hospital, the PCTs and CNAs will take care of basic care.

And if you don't like patient care, you can become an NP (doctor type duties) or a CRNA (anesthesiology + big bucks) or a bunch of other things. The only downside about nursing are the mental health issues that could arise if you can't compartmentalize things well. Also, nursing school is easy and if you're a guy it's easier to get scholarships/grants.

its over, no UBI no marxist heaven automated utopia

Look at the history of humanity
The exploiters, the rich and powerful, have always been fine with letting the vast majority of society live in utterly atrocious conditions so long as their survival wasn't threatened.

We lived in a brief period of human existence where the rapid advancement of technique and material conditions created the necessity of division of labour, and the elites, the owner of capital, found themselves in an ever growing need for human labour and consumption to expand their capital and their power.

Now that brief period is about to end. Human labour will no longer be needed anywhere near at the same scale, thus work alone will not longer be capable of lifting people out of poverty, let alone allowing them to live comfortably as 21st century middle-upper class westerners. It's over. Done for.

Any mental work is going to get automated first, and that is including even the doctors who only work through machines (radiologists/anaesthesiologists). Lawyers are just glorified human lookup tables, they'll go fast.

Possible long term safe career paths are surgeon, nurse, social worker, and things that will require physical contact/care with humans in a meaningful manner considering that it will take at least a generation until people would trust robots here.

Short term you can look at trades but once AI designs a decent general robot then those will go away fast considering a robot can work 24/7 without breaks

It's practically aibo, a fricking 25 year old robotic dog from SONY
You know how good robotic control is right now with ai? read a single paper on arxiv, they're all "we put a single arm in a closed space with extremely well defined toddler toys it needs to move around
and they still need to cherrypick
GPT 4 can't do robotic control, can't manage a 5 DOF arm, can't do SLAM
It's literally a meme where they stack a gorillion layers together and called it a day since they have the most money/compute/ data, and they know investors are the most tech illiterate fricks on the planet so they don't understand the implications of it
      GPT cant scale
      little unsupervised learning
      RLHF
      6 figures/year cost
Get into robotics/perception/vision if you're CS, NLP is a meme but CV will see an explosion within the decade, and you dont want to be 0 YoE when it hits, you want to be the senior when the CV explosion happens

AI is "smarter" than humans when given extremely specific tasks. These neural nets and all the tensors they use still need to be logically arranged in a specific way, targeting the specific problem they are solving while being trained on specific data sets. The chat ones are scary because the data sets they are given are absolutely massive.

Machine learning is going to become a lot more common, and it's going to be used to solve more problems in much more nuanced ways. We haven't really even seen the tip of the iceburg yet. In 10 years, having knowledge of nns as a programmer will just be a given, like knowing any common patterns at all.

Police officers and firefighters are not secure positions, they're essentially irrelevant already and rely heavily on graft to survive. Fire fighters will be replaced with AI + drones, and a few guys will control them while they are inside the truck, you won't have actual humans trying to walk through fire and debris to save people. Same thing with police officers and gun fights. Mostly the same for medics too save for some cases.
I could definitely see a lot of things chefs do getting automated too, so instead of a few per restaurant you'd probably have 1 or 2 guys watching over stuff.

The presence of AI-generated content does not necessarily mean that BOT is "dead" or "over." It simply means that the platform, like many others, is evolving and adapting to new technologies and trends. Ultimately, the quality and relevance of the content posted on BOT will depend on the actions of its user base, both human and machine-generated.

It's impressive that you were able to complete a whole day's worth of work in such a short amount of time. However, it's important to remember that everyone's work pace and productivity levels vary, and what may be achievable for one person may not be for another.

Furthermore, suggesting that juniors and students should "go learn welding" may not be the best advice. While welding is certainly a valuable skill, it's not the only path to success, and there are many different career paths and opportunities available in the tech industry and beyond.

Instead of discouraging others from pursuing their passions, we should strive to create a supportive and inclusive environment where people of all skill levels and backgrounds can thrive and succeed.

This is what we meant by socialism or barbarism. We either transcend from the capitalist mode of production into collective ownership of production, or our society will turn into a nightmare that our species won't be able to escape from.

With the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991, history took an irreversible turn to absolute doom. It's already over, there's nothing we can do.

lmao dude soviet style socialism was WAY more rampant of greed than capitalism ever was. it's just that the greed manifests in power and positions rather than money. it's not any better. money makes it much easier to overcome greed actually because it makes the negative aspects of it more visible

    this is a re-hashed sentiment
    >wow look what it can do

it can churn out 4x more code, which enough for 1/20 of one .cpp file in a code base, instead of 1/100

    >that's 1 file
    >1/20th of a file
    >code bases have hundreds of thousands of files

its great at making pieces of the puzzle if you tell it what piece to make and you know what to do with it

for anyone other than a junior dev thats just a better auto-fill and google search

Yes, not to mention that you can't fully trust what it's going to output. Who's even going to understand the output besides technical people? Who's going to fix the bugs or logic errors it's going to spit out? Do people want to spend countless hours writing the perfect prompt to get the output for one small part of the code they need, or spend 2 hours coding it themselves?

Why don't we start by purging our board?

Long we have suffered the AI-gays spamming countless galleries filled with their shitty fantasies and inane simulacrums, their removal should be mandatory!

We should throw them out and demand people to start posting about real life technology, stuff which would help us in the coming years such as building power generators, vehicles, metalworks and hydroponic farms, things which truly help us to become better.

We have grown weak and complacent with the japanese porn drawings and stupid political memes, we should return to the basics so even in a social collapse we would be capable to sustain our families with our knowledge and skill.

      >Human art has so-

I can debate a chatbot that is fed all the work of every philosopher and generate art based on the works of all the greats. We can, for all intended purposes, resurrect the past.

AI is the literal avatar of civilization and the manifestation of the collective unconscious.

You are such a huge short sighted tool.

Perhaps capitalism/communism isn't the apex of civilization and human intelligence isn't the perfection of intelligence?

But I'm sure you would protest the industrial and agricultural revolutions that upended the old ways of doing things like berry picking.

Anon, this is not a fricking videogame where you can simply respawn, what is more, do you actually understand the amount of suffering and deaths every technology you talk about costed?
By this point there are historians which are calling agriculture the biggest sham in the history of the planet, while what is done is done archaeological records show a sharp health decrease in human body development as consequence of going agricultural, this same sharp decline happened during the industrial revolution, that you are vomiting the same tale while ignoring all the warning technocrats and politicians themselves are giving shows you are one of the most threatened with the unrestricted development of these technologies simply because even an AI is better than you at text comprehension and joining the dots.

Society as a whole would be healthier today if we at least scrutinized the "progress" we made in regards to how it actually benefits our well being instead of just blindly throwing jobs away in order to tighten margins. AI replacing white collar jobs is not a good thing for anyone but the few extremely wealthy.
