SD NAI leaked and proceeded to kill DALL-E 2 where it stood, enabling a bunch of parallel developments of optimization/new methods to bring more coom to the tables, voicegen are next on the horizon, right before textgen, just need to wait for model optimization/ high VRAM hardware for consumers to drop

        >high VRAM hardware for consumers to drop
Problem is that textgen needs so much more VRAM than all the other applications because the GPT they need for understanding the prompt is way smaller than what a textgen needs to give answers that are not completely lobotomized.

If the rumours about the 4090 ti having 48GB vram are true you should be able to run a 30B language model on it at reduced precision

30B isn't davinci/ChatGPT tier but it's surprisingly good if tuned properly, see (aids thread in /vg/ has info if you want to try one, there's a new quite good 30B one from some guy that's in beta atm)

          Anonymous

I don't think you need such a big model if you're running your own stuff. You can just have multiple models for different things. Like in stable diffusion we have dozens of models for specific purposes.

Stable diffusion in the beginning also needed a very powerful GPU. Now it runs unbounded in a rtx 3060 and even works fine in 4GB GPUs from almost a decade ago.
Once the ball starts rolling and more devs start developing for it, the tech will improve just like with sd.

            >I don't think you need such a big model if you're running your own stuff
for language models you do unfortunately, the largest model a non-richgay GPU can run are 2.7B and 6B and those are just too stupid to be very useful

20B-30B are where they start to get large enough to reliably make sense and be logical

probably, I think Kobold (the most popular interface for running language models locally) lets you split a model across multiple gpus

They knew it, they were worried about reputational risk from having a racist AI like Microsoft had with Tay on twitter, OpenAI seems to be somewhat getting away with it because it is a smaller and less known company

Zuck is a fricking moron he always was. He thought he'd transform facebook into metaverse because he owns Oculust and thus can own the hardware to access to his network, since Apple and Android are starting to block his tracking bullshit.
Remember, Zuck once created a PHP wesbite to vote on photos of female college students and when friends told him that this was not ok he sat down with friends to transform that wesbite into a social app, which was enough for him to think he was a hacker.

      Anonymous

This. Other platforms thought they would make hardware that would transcend into a social network. Almost no one remembers but before social networking really took off in the early days of myspace Microsoft thought they might be able to do this with the 360. It didn't work then and won't work now. Facebook was only successful because people were on the internet with their laptops and desktops using browsers to access the web. Facebook met people where they were. Those days are over and other hardware has taken that place already. Too bad for ZUCC it isn't a VR headset.
