Google lost 10% of their stock because they joined the ChatGPT bandwagon, not because they weren't on it.
ChatGPT makes all the same dumb mistakes BardAI does.

They demoed a broken product. Shows they were in a mad rush to demo anything and means they aren't ready to compete.

I'm don't get why everyone (including Google) acts like Google got caught completely unprepared by the existence of AI. They're literally one of the industry leaders in AI research.

They seem to take ethics a bit more seriously than MS so they are taking their time to make sure it functions the way they want. That or the sentient LaMDA told them it's not time to show it's full potential yet.

I think Google became victim of its own internal bureaucracy and nobody really had the interest in curbstomping the gatekeepers of Search so the applicability of AI didn't got much push behind it. Now they are being forced into. I'm sure Google will deliver something of value simply due to the amount of talent, research and money they have, but there's blood in the water and the sharks are looming around.

Yeah and the CEO honestly was pretty involved in making that happen rather than just being lucky, AI is literally one of the few things Google has been keeping up with even if ChatGPT did mog them.

The needful redeemer is still a shit leader yet Google remains a world leader in AI.

Because they would never introduce a product that might cannibalize and reduce their primary income source

AI research is useless if you don't develop products that can make use of that research.

Sundar was too busy shitting in the street.

He tossed the release over to Google Paris because he knew Bard would hallucinate just like ChatGPT and decided to throw them under the bus. What a coward.

It's clear that Google's current CEO needs to go in order to demonstrate accountability for this humiliating debacle and the resulting loss of credibility. They need to think about bringing back Page or Schmidt or Brin or maybe recruit somebody new from outside the company.

Page, Brin, and Schmidt lost interest in Google a long time ago. They’d much rather be hobnobbing with other billionaires at the WEF and other such groups. It’s clear that web search is on a slow decline and the ad-driven business model behind it is unsustainable.

Pichai looks like a nice guy but he's no Steve Jobs or Satya Nadella. When you watch those guys on interviews you can clearly see they have that leadership aura combined with the drive to win. Pichai on the other hand comes off as just a nice boss with a fatherly demeanor which is not enough to succeed in the brutally competitive tech industry.

When it comes to CEOs I very much doubt that what you see is what you get.

Sometimes you just know a product is doomed to fail from its name alone, what homosexual gave Bard its name? Bing is another that comes to mind.
