The partial derivative of a multivariable function with respect to a direction produces the slope of the tangent line to a point on a curve. If you make the function a surface representing error at every input location, you can calculate the partial derivatives for every node and feed your model array and the tangent slope arrays to gradient ascent and it'll tell you where and how much to make changes to your original model to make it less wrong over the training set.

It's not going to harm society, it's just going to make it so that the bottom half of poeple aren't smart enough to contribute, and there's no repetitive motion labor tasks they can to earn their existence in a marketplace of robots who can do anything they can do better.

The first country and group of people to get ChatGPTX up to a 135 IQ specialist on anything you could possibly ask of it, that country will have a massive speed boost advantage to dominating the rest of the world.

ChatGPT, explain this thing to me that nobody in the world has figured out yet. Prove whether this conjecture problem that has a million dollar prize attached to it is true or false and show your work.

it doesn't need to make groundbreaking stuff to change the world. This thing is effectively in the 90th percentile for testing in every category except for advanced math and even then it made significant progress. Doctors, lawyers, accountants, and programmers are all on the copping block to some degree

and soon this stuff will start being able to self-improve and help make advancements to robotics so it can do work in the physical world as well

I am of the opinion that this level of AI is only possible for a narrow and brief window in human history. there are enough people to manifest it, but once it goes into full use, human civilization grinds to a halt and the whole system falls apart.

I could be wrong, but I don't see how society can adjust to this in any recognizeable form. if most people are obsolete, then new advancements won't be possible. who is going ot maintain the tech? it doesn't make sense one this stuff goes into full use.
