Enough about this AI stuff

I just quit my barely paying tutoring job and planning to learn webdev. I understand the industry and the world as a whole is undergoing tremendous change. I made a choice, so I've to stick with it now because programming seems the only thing that is within my reach. Art, and 3D require way too much creativity, and training. Similar thing with Music too. I'm going to learn webdev with some Python, and give my best for a year or so. I don't know whether I will be successful or not, but at this point everything is over anyways. Might as well exhaust this last option. Wish me luck bros!

    bad news bro

    1) field extremely oversaturated
    2) companies massively overhired and overextended during the pandemic
    3) massive massive layoffs all over the place
    4) assuming you become competent in 1 year, you will still compete with experienced and college educated people for scrap jobs

      What should I do then?
I've lost my back in an accident last year. I'm still recuperating. The tutoring job was taking all the time, but the pay was less, and often delayed for weeks.
There is not a single skill bar programming that I can learn which will enable to me earn legally in plausible amount of time.
As I said earlier, Art, 3D, and Music are all out of my league. It's not viable for me to pursue this. I can't trades either because of the injury.

i dunno bro. call your senator?

we're all up shit creek, and it's not looking up.

I mean don't get me wrong, it's not a bad skill to have. But I'm just telling you that it's not gonna be easy.

They are in it for themselves. They don't care for us, and they never will.
I understand that it is going to be tough, but what else is left? To go without a fight is unmanly.

            that's the joke

any lawyer would advise me to not advise you to do the things pretty much everyone agrees are necessary but no one has the balls to utter.

Btw I'm also learning Japanese from the last 3 years and might give N1 certification later this year. I hope that can give some opportunities.

I'm also learning japanese but in comparison to you i actually have a job in tech.

if you think that you can "lern2kode" in 1 year with python you are in for a big surprise. there are so many skillz that you need outside of "coding". creating a simple website is easy. making it interactive is only slightly more difficult. however making it talk to a database is a whole different thing. you need to design a data scheme, make sure input is sanitized, etc. learning all of that takes a really long time.

maybe after a year you can convince to hire you as an apprentice and get a good job in 3 to 4 years. the high paying gayMAN job that you are hoping for just isnt there waiting for you

      How about linux admin jobs?
I just give my 2 week notice for my helpdesk job and will be looking for linux jobs. I've used it for 3 years and will be taking the RHCSA this month (will probably pass)

it's absolute moronation to resign without already having signed another contract. What are you doing Black person.

yeah it's a little troll but I kept facing an issue in where I was going to first get my cert then find a job then give my 2 weeks. Which is the ideal way to do it but my procrastination was a little to strong so I put it off for about 4 months. I gave myself to many excuses on why I should stay but I was just comfortable there and wasn't moving forward. So I just decided to resign and kinda give myself a shove forward to force me to move. I don't have anyone depend on me and have enough money in savings to last for over 1 year.

No sane person would try to learn webdev now

Learn webdev for yourself and build your own stuff.
Corporations aren't creating useful or interesting products anymore, you can fill a niche.

No anon, I'm not larping. I quit my job last week, and I'm setting up tools and stuff. Spent yesterday all day reading MDN.

Seems interesting anon. I've a laptop that is collecting dust, I might try installing some Linux distro on it to learn it. I've used Ubuntu Mate and Ubuntu desktop previously.

Installing it physically on your computer in my opinion is the best way to learn. 100% I'll die by this believe.
Try to learn with the help of youtube videos, unironically the arch wiki even if you don't use arch, use ChatGPT, and if you want a certification with free learning material try the LPIC exam which can help you get a linux job. I would recommended a Red Had cert like the RHCSA

I will look into it. Even webdev jobs ask you for Linux exp anyways these days. Might be a good idea to learn it.

That sounds fun. Something about being surrounded by the greenery is calming. I would like to teach history if I had to pick something besides tech to do

    absolutely correct
if you close your eyes and ignore it you will surely make it in a completely oversaturated, useless field that will be completely automated in half a year 🙂

      >in half a year
You have never created a single piece of software in your life if you think the entire field will be automated in half a year. 10 years from now, maybe.

You have never held in your hands the power of GPT-4, langchain, and a vectordb if you make statements like yours.
