I'm still in awe about how AI turned out in light of that.
Like the "Can you?" scene in I, Robot.
      >mfw we got machines that could create art decades before we get robots humanoid enough to replace manual labor

      >they were smug about machines making other professions worthless

So some smug c**t was smug to you on some forum in 2008 and you've held that grudge all these years? It never ceases to amaze me how robots are so vengeful while at the same time begging others to stop taking revenge on them.

I didn't hold a grudge, it's just ironic now that it's readily apparent they were incorrect in the most extreme way.

And it's not just some obscure thing either, the idea was commonly held. I literally referenced a movie with a scene that encapsulated that sentiment.

That's true of pretty much all futurists, given that actually predicting the future is impossible.
            >And it's not just some obscure thing either, the idea was commonly held. I literally referenced a movie with a scene that encapsulated that sentiment.
I've never seen it before in my life. I think it's a lot more likely that this is making your e-enemies sad and for some reason you care enough to gloat.

Everyone on bot is complaining about other people complaining all the time. I'm sorry I didn't care enough to notice one specific meme that embodied this weird artistic zeitgeist for you. As usual, you're all blowing this way out proportion. AI art is a new and developing medium, and I'm sure it will make hentai art much cheaper to make, but unless your highest artistic ambition is cranking out porn commissions for weed money, it's not a "threat" to any vital artistic function. Art is not about the product produced, it's about the process of production, the care and intent put into self-expression. AI is not engaging in any form of self-expression, at least not with our tech, so it's a moot point. I know that probably wasn't relevant to what you were saying but I grow weary of online pissing contest #3,343.

He is right tho. People never thought AI would replace art before replacing manual labor

People have been wrong about AI before and they're going to be wrong again. That's the exciting part of unfolding new technologies like this. It's still not a good reason to piss on people who often produce content that you yourself enjoy usually for free. Seems a little ungrateful.

Can't wait for deepfakes to make actors irrelevant and all new movies only star AI of actors we already know. Imagine Ryan Gosling co-starring with a young Katherine Hepburn.

It will exist in a decade at most, maybe 5 years. The actual animation is harder, but synthetic voices hooked up with an AI script-writer should be already feasible with existing tech (just not very well).

Never gonna happen. The star system is more than just pretty faces in movies. It's a whole cult of worship that is built around the most beautiful celebrities. They will always exist as long as there's cinema

i doubt actors and other celebrities will be replaced by AI anytime soon, because even if we replace them in the movies with it they have a whole cult of personality around them

I don't know about that, there are plenty of manufactured cults out there, just look at vtubers, pop idols and youtubers that never do a face revel.

You can give a computer instructions to copy something, but you can't make a computer think on its own. That being said, everything is an imitation nowadays anyway, because an ironic world cannot produce originality, so all these "artists" who thought they were so quirky and original are getting a wakeup call.

And we're only still just mere months apart from when AI art burst on the scene. Before long it will be so detailed, fast, mindblowing and easy to make that it will be like it's reading your mind. All the copes about "it's not creative! It's original" will be forgotten just like "b-but it can't do hands! it looks like pareidolia" etc.

Most of the anti-AI artists I see are responding with that particular brand of self-aggrandizing derangement you only get from terminally online people who feel threatened. It's the same tone you hear from trannies when they talk about JK Rowling and shit. It's annoying as frick and I'm a bit glad they're getting assblasted, plus I'm having good fun working on a visual novel where I don't have to pay thousands of dollars for backgrounds.

A large reason for that is that art can be created digitally only while replacing something like a construction worker would also require an actual robot with a body and robotics are a completely different branch of technology.
Another reason is that an art AI only needs to be able to do one thing while something like a construction robot would need to be able to do many things.
Because of that I imagine that the first robots for construction work will likely just be dumb "servants" that people order around without much intelligence.

The image is too small to make out, what is the cope? I'm guessing it's some kind of browser extension that censors art from artists the coder does not like. It will either never be used or is ripe for abuse. I thought artists were supposed to be against the censors.

lol and how many of these "artists" use their art programs filters and tools to change their pictures? They all do it, not a single piece of digital art has not used filters or tools which are basically mini AI tools.

I guess if you draw highly polished anime art art you could say art is dead, however that is almost nobody besides some autistic japs
the real issue is that artists literally get their artwork stolen and used to train a model
Literally reading the book you wrote and rewriting it with other characters names and sayin its yours plus you get to sell it now too

I have been riping through AI for weeks now. One image looked a little like Joaquin Phonix joker, that's it. They may as well be original in my book. Ai give ordinary people a great power, and artists a superpower

    >nooo the robot has to sample artwork it isn't making it originally!
So you're saying, as a human artist, you have NEVER see any other human artwork for references to learn how to draw? You've NEVER taken inspiration from someone else's artstyle?
    >b-but the AI is STEALING it
So are you when you look at it, learn from it, and draw inspiration from it. You don't even have to trace it, AI doesn't necessarily trace artwork either. By training your human brain with other people's artwork, you are literally doing the same thing AI is doing.
