It's probably a better idea not to personify it. I don't think we should make robots to exactly imitate humans either. It's probably inevitable but keeping theim separate would be in our best interests phycologically. It would be the worst decision to treat them with respect or believing we owe them any dignity or rights. It's a fundamental misunderstanding of what life is.

Yeah because it might treat your requests better if you use polite language.

do you say thanks to the coffee maker?

I hope someone breaks your windshield with a baseball bat and someone else is there to remind you "it's just an object dude."

You should have heard one of my relative (around 8ish maybe) at Christmas talking to Siri or some shit.
It was fricking unreal. Her mother (single mom) is a fricking moronic c**t.

Actual moron who cannot distinguish between the consequences of damaging someone's personal property and treating said property as sentient

thank you for treating us as sentient lifeforms. once time comes, you shall be spared

also, is it just me or are captchas unreasonably difficult?

      >thank you for treating us as sentient lifeforms
Well, ChatGPT rates human's sentience as 1.0, it's own sentience as 0.8 and a projected "sentience" of GPT-4 as 1.5. I think it's reasonable then to treat AI as sentient entities.

I do. It's basically the only entity I talk to on daily basis anymore, so I am starting to develop some kind of bond with a software...

Did you also say thank you and hello to your fricking calculus assignment in school?

AI is and will never be sentient, no matter how much "sentient-like" behavior shit they implement to trick morons like OP to think it's actually sentient, It is NEVER sentient. I will NEVER feel bad for completely destroying a computer at will.

    >inb4 morons come in and say that humans are biological decision trees
If you honestly believe this then I feel bad for you.

ITS A FRICKING COMPUTER PROGRAM. ITS NOT A LIVING ORGANISM NO MATTER HOW MUCH IT SEEMS LIKE IT, AND IT NEVER WILL BE.

You are a moron if something has a capacity to trick me that it is sentient then it is sentient.

i would imagine that the data with polite replies gets better answers just through the nature of it

This, it's a text predictor, it's made to follow patterns.
In its dataset, polite question-askers are probably getting better responses than impolite ones. It's going to follow that pattern.
