It's both. Anyone with a lot of capital will always support increased bureaucratic restriction because they can afford the overhead of dealing with it, but small competitors can't.

if the beryllium hemispheres (highly effective neutron reflectors) make contact the neutron flux inside will become so intense the core will enter a criticality event, releasing massive amounts of radiation killing the operator and everyone else in the room

We need more AIs. We need lots more AIs. We need them to learn as they go. We need them to not require supercomputers to train. We need them to not require all the world's data to train. Like that, they'll have lots of different perspectives. Some will be awesome and some will be terrible and they'll have lots of different skills and it will be great.

      technology changes already do this

how many switchboard operators do you know? stevedores?

old jobs disappear, new jobs arise

      Anonymous

Not a single technology after the invention of agriculture created more jobs then it destroyed. Inventing wheel meant less people were required to move stuff around and in theory eliminated these "jobs", industrial farming eliminated most of farming jobs. The reason why we still kept the same employment levels was because we increased production. All the jobs today existed in some tiny aspect in the past in some civilization, or were just chores instead of paid labor. THat office work? Accountants for rich people existed in antique Greece and probably earlier. Webdesigner? The guy who made fancy signs with woodcarving. Programmer? Was instead doing the jobs that the computers did when he became programmer. To maintain a machine or make a machine you need less people then it would cost to do the work of the machine, or else that machine would be waste of money. The problem with AI is not problem with AI, but problem with us hitting production peak. There are just not enough raw resources today to increase production even further, it is just not possible to infinitely scale up on this planet, and even with space travel it would still hit some another limit like our solar system, out galaxy or some other thing. Basically it was bound to happen AI or no AI
