There are many companies actively replacing their Indian contractors with ChatGPT and generative AI. Between the low cost, large access to cheap training, and low level of skill: India is primed to be the testbed of job replacement automation. Maybe not the best time for them to be reaching new population highs imo.

Chat gpt has made coding simple yet obscure tasks so unbelievably quick and easy it feel like cheating.

      Anonymous

Even better than simple-yet-obscure tasks is its usefulness for simple-yet-laborious tasks.
I find myself having to write custom parsers so often. I now just explain to fricking Bing Chat what the format looks like, and it gives me the finished code. Copy-paste that shit, and it works first time. Amazing.

        Anonymous

Guessing it's basic parser then. Because they all handle regex extremely poorly.

          Anonymous

Pretty much. Like I said, simple-yet-laborious. Nothing I can't figure out easily; nothing that's beyond my ability; just shit that takes a lot of time to write out because the formats are all custom and moronic.
That said, there is something to be said for the prompt engineering side of it. The more common these LLMs become, though, the more intuitive it'll be.

          >they all handle regex extremely poorly
Yeah, it's kinda strange. The few times I requested some quick regex it provided some stupid shit. In a couple of the cases I could see why, I provided a pretty small sample of test cases I wanted to match, but didn't provide coherent non-matches as well, so what it gave was too specific. Anyway, I'm sure it will improve soon enough.

This is why people who sperg about “AI” are so stupid, that it’s just automaton to make certain tasks easier

Even if all it does, for now, is make programmers more productive companies will layoff a commensurate amount of staff to save money. It doesn't even have to totally replace programming to make a huge impact. Anyone who thinks companies will keep the same amount of employees but joyfully exploit more productivity don't understand how suits think.

      >Anyone who thinks companies will keep the same amount of employees but joyfully exploit more productivity don't understand how suits think.
Because you can't profitably produce more than there is demand for.

This wave is coming to consume us all. 10% of jobs are replaceable right now, in six months it'll be 50%.

I keep telling everyone, at least 5 people per day, about what's happening and how this is the most important thing that's happening by far. Everyone is scared shitless. Get out there and spread the word. A new philosophical paradigm awaits is. This is way bigger than simply which Poo codes your redemption interface & database.

      Anonymous

Most people can't even imagine how large the impact might be. What will the internet look like 10 years from now? After a hypothetical GPT 5 is released with tons of functionality and you can get information and interact with apps from a single interface? Websites like wikipedia will be mostly obsolete. The only reason not to use such technology would be to access unapproved information. A lot of the threat to jobs is at the environmental level rather than the day to day mechanical job performance.

Won't make any difference to the genuine humans.

AI replacing software tools is mostly tradie prole cope. At best it helps with churning out boilerplate, which wasn't really that much of a problem with modern dev tools anyway. The only ones who should realistically be afraid are webshits and low-level IT plankton writing shitty glue code (think most of BOTeddit).

I literally use chatgpt every-single-day for work.

Anything that is even remotely somewhat compex and it'll fail. It even can fail on simple shit too.

It's an awesome tool, but that is all it is. It's a tool to do redundant shit. It's not a god at coding, as everyone tries to make it out to be.

The toilets aren't the problem. They have plenty of toilets. A lot of them just prefer to shit in the bushes, all the village toilets built by the government were used by the villagers as storage sheds

Most of them aren't even real software engineers.
They are nepotistic plagiarists. Stealing code from each other ensuring the others get hired. Stealing code from github.
Maybe 1 in 1000 poo who claims to be is actually remotely qualified to be a coder of any flavour. Even then I'd take a woman programmer with inelegant code and way too many notes over a poo. They taint any company they are in and infest it like shit covered bed bugs.

I work for a company that does codebase refactoring/ rewriting/ optimization for other companies and you wouldn't believe the things I've seen.
Code copied from git or tutorial sites with original comments included. Large, copied segments where the pajeet responsible was too stupid or lazy to just use their established varaibles or definitions and redefined them for the function. I pray to our AI overlords that those morons get replaced by someone who's learned to query ChatGPT.

Good. I've had to work with Indian contractors in the past and they're the fricking worst. They frick up the most simple, basic of tasks even when given step by step instructions and blame everyone for their mistakes except themselves. They barely speak English and they constantly miss deadlines.

But some dickhead in a suit way up the food chain who never actually has to work with them thinks they're the greatest thing since sliced bread since 10 subhuman Indians with a degree they bought from some diploma mill in Balalajalalabadstan cost as much as one onshore employee so I'm fricked.

Chatgpt won't but AI code automation will definitely cut down some of the glue jobs that a lot of diversity hires rely on within the next 10-15 years.
No real biggie if you're actually the average white coder, mostly a problem if you live to glue together javascript libraries.

Ok so this chatGPT AI drops right after COVID.
And it replaced like 8% of the global workforce with automation, will potentially replace 15-20% with the implications of it's utility in other industries downstream.
At the same time a global economic crash is coming.
A 3rd world war is brewing.
And 70% of the worlds population has been vaccinated with something gradually fricks you up and expedites cancer.

Is this all gonna coincide with the agenda 2030 world they want of diminished population that replaced the labor force with AI/robots?
