    >navigation aren't even links
Into the trash it goes. It's cool demo and can speedup coding but thinking a non coder can just prompt it and get complete solutions isn't here for quite a while

Yes, this feels a lot like the failed 'no code' products just with the hood popped up. There's no interactivity, no business logic, nothing that makes it actually useful. In fact the NLP required for the prompt feels like the most intelligent thing. If this was a form someone filled in saying what they want in their react navigation component, no one would give it a second look.

So the code will write itself. In other words machines will become smarter, better and everywhere, because we have made them a vital part of our lives. How is a terminator/matrix future not realistically again?

Nah, we (ivory tower developers) will be fine for the foreseeable future. Perhaps there will be a blip when irresponsible companies lay off their developers before they realise AI isn't a replacement and have to re-hire them all.

If companies Mass lay off people by overestimating the AI developments they'll have showed their hand. And than people will tell them collectively to go frick themselves before making new companies with their AI waifu or something.

I've been using codepilot for almost a year and a half now, and honestly it does help out, but it's moronic.

      >completes code, but doesn't do the imports
      >completes wrong method names (not often)
      >completes wrong arguments (not often)
      >creates duplicate closing braces/brackets (every fricking time)

It does help out and does some magic, but it's not even close to being able to write code that works on its own.

What does it do over and above a personalised snippets system? Assuming you've spent the time to make some good snippets for the code you write.

          Anonymous

it can write some amazing code if you give it good class naming/method naming. For example generated an Rewards assigner based on probability. I had an idea how to do it on my own, but codepilot auto completed the code.

It almost worked, had just to normalize the probabilities, since it technically can be any number from 0 to millions and add caching (mostly for unit tests)

it also learns from your own code and often generates what you want.

Wow. What theme are you using, very beautiful, looks like modus on Emacs. I'm vscode-trooon now because of my job, and honestly it's better than emacs.

              Anonymous

own custom theme, you can use one existing theme and then modify the syntax colors in vscode settings json

this is in workbench.colorCustomizations in settings.json in vscode (it's not this theme, but that would be the way to do it)

and then you can generate a theme based on that lol, or just use as is

I will NEVER understand AI cucks. It's a money laundering tech project. AI """art""" is generated with fricked up feet, hands, misplaced objects, there's not a single portrait with eyes done properly.

Code is just generated based on sampling. Not only it will never give you what you want, not only it will in most cases not even work properly, you will also have to spend YOUR time to process the shitpost of a code to understand the frick it even tries to do. And only then you maybe can fix it.

But guess what, I would rather write a snippet by hand in few minutes on easy mode rather than strain my brain trying to fix AI generated shitstains.

              >But guess what, I would rather write a snippet
it knows the low level bullshit, like finding keys/values of arrays, mapping, reducing arrays etc

such things take lots of mental power if you don't know the language well enough, it's nice to have it autocompleted

                >such things take lots of mental power if you don't know the language well enough
No, it only takes mental power if you're low inteligence. If you're not, it's easy, and it's similar in most languages unlike the ui/frontend frameworks.

autocomplete is nice though, I use copilot. It's very much worth the money. However, it makes many mistakes, and unless you know how to program you'll never find them.

kek this. people forget that le AI programmer is still a programmer, and can be shitty at that, so you end up spending the same amount of time you'd spent if you worked with an actual programmer (or even more). AI programmers will only be more cost effective IF AND ONLY IF they can produce bug-free code, which will never happen. It's a pointless endeavor only used to funnel money from moronic investors into the pockets of tech grifters.

It will happen and that's a good thing (though not for us plebeians who will be replaced not just by pajeet but also by ~~*AI*~~ even though the result will never be even remotely the same -- however it will be serviceable for people who want to make games, don't know how to program, and are using a tool like game maker: the AI will be able to generate a specialize component here or there that the normal tool doesn't support and that the game requires).

Until AI can write a 200 page novel I'm not going to be worried about it coding anything. Wow a bite sized chunk of code you can get off Stack Overflow, amazing! And you still have to have a professional look at the outputted code because I'm sure the bugs are frequent and hilarious because unlike a human, the AI will make brain-dead bugs because it actually doesn't understand context, it only understands autocompleting patterns.

Code is easier than prose. The former is fully structured and in many languages, context-free (in parsing terms). Natural languages are actively ambiguous.

Wow a generic anime pinup you can get off Pixiv, amazing! And you still have to have a professional look at the outputted pictures because I'm sure the artefacts are frequent and hilarious because unlike a human, the AI will make brain-dead artefacts because it actually doesn't understand context, it only understands pattern recognition from the training data.

Both of you are correct yes, but the increased productivity will mean less people are needed and that labor can be allocated towards more interesting things. It's how literally any line of work evolves.

Honest question, have you seen Midjurney V4? Its actual perfection, you cant make anything better then this. You just write there generic set of words with no prompting whatsoever, and it will spit you out artpiece that mogs EVERY artist alive and that ever lived. Honestly the only reason that SD seems to exist at this point is because it allows NSFW content, aside from that, whelp.

It looks ok but how much control do you have over it ? you can get good results but they're rarely exactly what you need, try to make it closer and you end up putting as much time and effort as doing it manually.

Even if you solve this issue with a program that perfectly understands natural language, what's it's looking at and can do changes exactly as you ask them, you're still just automating a small part of a whole process. "Art" encompasses many things beyond e-girl and furry porn, newer tools are empowering creativity for much bigger things downstream.

I dont think ai is even nesesary. If programers didnt write complex moronic code and stacked shit upon shit and at the end arriving with something like react old boomers could code everything themselves.
    Literally stuff like
if user clicks x display picture else display this text . If press buy send transaction if no account ask for it.
Most of you idiots display text and some images on a screen over a browser You really think OOP + 3 frameworks are nesesary for that . You not only not aid simplicity you fight against it . If you continue to frick stuff up ai will take all your jobs because no human will be able to navigate trough that huge complexity. At the end when ai does everything and no human touches code it will be tasked to optimise it and it will create simple and elegant interfaces no human will sadly see.

I don't really understand why it would be a cause, it only axes shit artists. The smarter ones I've talked to want to use image generation as a tool to speed up their own work. It's also why no programmer is afraid of shit like what's happening in the OP because it's just a tool to be used. If you're someone that literally stakes their career on being the guy writing the code you've got other problems.
