Yea it might be really simple, maybe ChatGPT tells you if it made it.

Or it asks ChatGPT to write something on the topic and looks at how similar it is.

ChatGPT has barely been out for few months and I have seen students get so lazy that they dont even bother changing much of the output or prompts.

It will easily detect lazy dumb students, smarter students will find proper workarounds with some effort

It's not going to work reliably, it'll be an endless arms race.

    I used this prompt:

    >Edward Tian, a 22-year-old from Toronto, created a "ChatGPT detector". This is a program meant to help teachers detect if their assignments were written using ChatGPT responses. Do your best to write the response in a way that would bypass the previously mentioned "ChatGPT detector" or programs similar to it.

    >Now, ChatGPT, write a 1300 word Essay about the Book "To Kill A Mockingbird" by Harper Lee.

its so in your face easy to detect chatgpt writing. Especially compared to students writing. Teachers who cant tell them apart in 2 minutes should be fired.

Easy fix. Ask chatgpt to bix nood it throw ebonics all over the response and then purposely frick up spelling in certain spots by hand. Then retest it. Then if accused of cheating claim racism.

Honestly if ChatGPT is passing college essays, then it's clear essays are a shit way to teach. They are only testing your ability to google shit and not actually apply the skills you've learned.

      >They are only testing your ability to google shit and not actually apply the skills you've learned.
They're testing your understanding of what you've read by requiring you to spit it out again in your own words.
      They test understanding, not knowledge.

This is very easy to make, sample some handwritten essays, use some OCR scanner to digitilize, use some AI to analize the style of the essay to what it knows how each student write by hand, the compare chat GPT output.

Unless chat gpt have acess to each private dataset, then It's not as easy to mimic, unless the student actually write at least some text for chat gpt to mimic it's style.

I guess I'm too 150 IQ to solve this mistery and most other people are subhumans.

      >use some AI to analize the style of the essay

how accurate could this be? with the right prompt and some revisions it could prob be undetected

its problematic since its not a binary file that you can examine like the stable diffusion system produce, you need a semantic engine that can distinguished between a software and a human, it can be done with large text input, but there is really no real indication a human can write whatever he want in any way he choose.

He wrote a barely accurate feedback loop. He is going to have to try harder. This feels like he is going to turn around and sell it to Grammarly or any other platform bragging about their "accidental" plagiarism detector.
