The point he's making is just as true for human artists. They all copy other artstyles, learn off other art. It's just normal. As long as it isn't a literal trace or heavily copied nobody cares.

      Anonymous

Humans do this every single time they draw. Theres no such thing as having no inspiration or no bias. Every single thing you do is influenced by how you've seen others do things and that is especially true for art. Artists rip off others work alllllll the fucking time and they dont give credit. Its hilarious seeing these terminally online "artists" get absolutely fucking obliterated.

He only feared beans because they contained the souls of the dead. Ancestor worship was common in many cultures thus I consider he was simply afraid of disturbing his ancestors' spirits if he interfered with the innards of beans.

I'm not a closeted homo, I can clearly state that I'm bisexual, but I can clearly say that dark skin is a no go for me.
The darker I'd go would be a northen african femoid, everything else is completely unappealing for me.
I'm thankful that I was born without being an extremely sex obsessed person like most gays here are, who only can think of wetting their wieners.

I omitted the part that I'm asexual too, so since I don't experience sexual attraction I just don't get in heat constantly like other people, that's why I don't think of sex constantly, although I can be sexually aroused by both genders.

I don't get why artgays are so upset.
Nobody is kicking their doors in, taking their pencils away.

Plus, technology advancing is fascinating as fuck. And this includes AI art.

    >but it's theft because AI learns by taking images!
So? All artists copy each other and learn by redrawing what someone else has drawn before. And I put it to you, that AI is less noticeable than most artists out there in terms of copying and taking.

I've never seen someone call out a piece of AI art by directly pointing at the image it took from. But that's happening constantly for regular art.
The "theft" argument holds no water.

      >no I cannot draw it because machine learning and human learning is different, and I can't interpret an image like a perfect bytestream up my ass into an eidetic perfect memory and even if I have aquired the skill to recreate something similar I cannot transfer it and everyone has to start from scratch

Sure there is. I can challenge your copyright in court as illegitimate due to AI.
You have to have a registered copyright on the work to enforce copyright claims, if you use AI, and I suspect as much and can verify it from anything, I can challenge this registration. This is where you will be forced to prove that you actually made the work, your previous works will be taken into account.

Actually in my case, we had a patent applied for, pending & approved, and an actual product.
Guy copied us at some point during its pending, and then tried to sue us later claiming infringement. Claiming there was no way we discovered a special safety breakaway wiring method.
Courts were willing to listen, but as soon as he made that argument his case nosedived. We were later told even if there was no patent involved, we would have still won based on the fact the guy relied on the really poor argument that "they couldn't have done this because they haven't done it before"

Not saying thats how it would exactly go down with AI in a court case, but theres a chance it would be very likely depending if its 2 literally-whos involved.

not really, robots have taken over a lot of jobs but 'ai' has only just started to threaten industries.
anyways there's a sea of angry 'artists' who are going to lose their commissions and patreons. the reason they're first on the chopping block is because they're so easily replaced that even fledgling machine learning (its not ai and their redefining of the term wont change my mind) can substitute them.

i dont think 'real' artists will actually be impacted. the fine art community values human craftsmanship and scarcity, neither of which art created by machine learning provides. lead industrial desginers, concept artists, and the like will still exist because suits have no artistic talent, but these positions will likely replace their underlings with AI and use it to source mass concepts/inspiration before designing a final concept.

tldr: real artists will be fine. sweatshop iterators and commission porn/furry artists will die

Fuck these so called artists that seethe at AI.
I went to art school in the late 2000s. Family was poor so it was go work in a sawmill for the rest of your life, or get a scholarship. Luckily I had a highschool art teacher that submitted my work behind my back and got me a free ride scholarship. And for that I'm ever grateful. Thank you Mrs. Evans.
I studied classical pieces- Vinci, Bosch, Raphael, Reinhold etc as well as other genres. Studied composition and balance as well as light and color theory. I enjoyed it. I would seclude myself for hours at a time and just draw. It was peaceful.
I posted in many a drawthread, provided free art for many a anon AVGD threads. Painted and sold some works and commissions.
But in the end my professor took me aside and said he couldn't allow me to graduate because my portraits, landscapes, fantasy pieces lacked a "message". He wanted me to shill politics and i'm just to autistic to do it.
Meanwhile the mulatto chick that had the artistic chops equivalent of a 7 year old graduates with honors because she can literally shove paint tubes up her ass and squirt paint out onto a canvas infront of a crowd and "that's real art, it makes a statement".
    Fuck. These. Gay. Internet. "Artists".
I'm glad they can see now how easily replaceable and meaningless they can be.
I no longer partake in art. I graduated with a CIS degree with a minor in art. Probably for the better, I have a stable career I'm happy with.
I miss art. And sometimes I think I might go back.. esp when I see the AI threads. AI art excites me at the possibilities. But I don't miss the pretentious people that are often associated with the art world. Fuck them.
I for one would dare say a real artist would embrace AI. Learn how to use it. It's a tool just like the paintbrush, you know.

Yeah but down the line it's not meant to be a tool anymore. It's advertised as an easy way for anyone to create something beautiful, not as a tool for artists.

        >It's advertised as an easy way for anyone to create something beautiful, not as a tool for artists

Same with game engines getting so much better that they are retard-proof. Sure we'll get a lot of garbage but it will also mean that creative people with high quality ideas and imagination but no programming skill will be able to create more/better games for me to play.
The currency of the future when AI replaces all manual "skills" is destined to be in ideas. The people with the most creative and innovative brains will be the people who become successful as they will be able to use AI to automate and delegate all of the grunt work to manifest their ideas into reality. This is the way humanity always should have been, and thanks to AI it will finally happen.

How is AI not a tool? Its does not just make images all by itself. It requires an input and then and only then does it produce an output. That is how tools work. They aid you in production.

If it was fully automated to produce images on its own its still tool a tool because it requires maintenance and required input to create the original algorithms.

                Ricers gonna

The question is how many people are willing to PAY for human creativity if a robot can do it equally or better?
The answer will be very few. Similar to how people buy artisan cheese or wine yet mass produced version can be as good or better.
Retard lefty "artists" types are realizing very rapidly their worth is going to be zero in the next two years or so.

No reason to gatekeep artistic images simply because "ohhh an AI created it so it sucks"

It's always going to have it's limitations tho.

It's a stretch, but you can say the same for any modern art medium. I mean at one point you had to make your own pigment and paint. People reeee'd about digital art years ago, claiming it wasn't art- nor was a tablet a tool.

I would make the claim that AI can be a tool. You learn how it works, tinker with it, input information for it to use. You get back images. Paint medium is a tool. You learn it's ins and outs of how it works, input the correct pigments and additives to get your desired medium. With it you also make images.

                >Thats my exact point. LoTR was written because thousands of other people before him wrote similar stories or snippets of stories. Just as the AI uses other images to refrence to create work. Artists use others work to create their work.
That's true, and every artists contribution adds something on to it, the sum is greater than its parts. And yes, artists use others work to create their work, but I still wouldn't compare that to the way an AI works, they're still pretty different. It's not done in the same way.
                >Yes? Some people dont have the skills to create what they can visualize hence photoshop etc
Drawing something on photoshop is the same as drawing something on paper. You can't "draw" using an AI.

This has me thinking about a thousand years from now- after LOTR is forgotten.. but someone will write something very vaguely similar- but everyone will be gay and black (because in 3023, that will be considered "oldworld" archtypes that don't exist in teh year 3000)
And everyone will think its fresh and new, and nobody remembers LOTR...

Goyslop will still be goyslop regardless of if its human made or AI made, and you will get fed it through the same medium as you do today. And the methods of ignoring it will be the same as it is today. The biggest appeal is that you can run local instances where you decide what the AI creates. You are the artist.

              >You can run local instances
Until you cant, because one individual may run an AI he has, but he cannot train it. So gayMAN will be in control of AI in the end.

                >but he cannot train it
Finetunes currently cost about $100 or so in computing costs. That's why there are so many models these days. And lesser techniques can be easily done in a regular consumer GPU.

How old are you? We have a dozen different community models for SD right now. There is a new version that is going to BTFO the corporate model being trained RIGHT NOW.

You also forgot to take into account that hardware will keep advancing and in some number of years you could spend $100 for a GPU that can train a model in a day. This is only going to get easier and easier for normal people to get their hands on to use offline.

That's good, my biggest concern with AI isn't the morality or whatever, but freedom of technology.
If it's open and free for everyone to use, for whatever purpose, then that means a single individual can create something as great as an entire company. It's like what happened with gamedev where you've just got a lot of indie games that get sometimes as much attention as AAA games, because the software allows them to.

95% of these "artists" are using a digital pad that relies on all sorts of computer algorithms to create lines or colours etc
They then go in and photoshop every single thing they post online which again is using AI(Algorithms) to create certain effects.

Lastly someone had to program this AI to generate images in certain ways. That art of this is from the code being written to display the pictures. Humans still have to input phrases and filter out results that suck.

TL:DR its just a new method to create art

Unfriendly reminder that AI art is not transformative.

    >yes it is
No it's not, and neither is making music with samples from other songs/movies/etc.
That is also not considered transformative.

      or
      >retard represents himself in court
      >retard gets btfoed and is forced to pay defendant's lawyer fees because he's retarded enough to think he can go up against someone who can afford a lawyer
and yes, you can be forced to pay defendant's attorney fees in a copyright suit. better paint harder piggy, gotta pay off your debts to your AI artist master

honestly, even if it's technically in the public domain, you can make a trivial half-assed edit to it just to cover the "modicum of creativity" clause making it legally your copyrighted work.

in fact it's stunning that artgays have such little self awareness that even now they STILL insist that it's a good thing that the "low skill" people's jobs were replaced by robots, and expect anyone to have any sympathy for their jobs being replaced now

this. inkcels get absolutely no sympathy from me because of how arrogant and holier-than-thou they are. yes, I will use the stable diffusion.
