With the AI you can make your own media that is so much better, I can ask it for breasts painted by vincent van gogh, what could be better?

        Anonymous

Because you can't ask for anything new.
AI only takes what exists, homogenizes it, and then spits it back out to you in a pseudo intelligible way.
It relies on existing jokes, essays, artwork, etc. Its brainless iteration worse than any Hollywood pandering or idiotic liberals.

          Anonymous

this is like saying you can't write anything new because you're just using words that exist. you don't understand the tech which is fine; it's complicated and convoluted but it definitely creates new art. have a free ai waifu

            Anonymous

No cumbrain the tech is easy to understand. It's a searchable interpolation using stolen art A between stolen art B times a million and that's why there's a class action lawsuit over it. You stupid homosexual.

            Anonymous

Not at all. Individual words don't have an inherent structure.
Every word has a meaning, but not a larger construction attached. Shakespeare and Joyce both had the same words, but took them in totally different directions. There was individual creativity, newness.

AI's are trained in already structured media. They aren't trained on individual lines, blotches of color, shapes. The building blocks of visual artwork. The individual words.
They're trained on completed artworks. They can only work to replicate what completed artworks they were trained on as well. In your case drawings of cartoon women with fat breasts. And that AI can only make more of that.
It can't make something new, something different than whatever sum of the material it was 'fed' on homogenizes into.

You can 'feed' an AI Shakespeare until it can spit out plays that word for word sound just like the Bard. Perhaps even one day it could even do that and maintain a coherent plot. But it could never do something other than that.
It could never create a new style for it.
It can only vomit out a nutrient paste version of Shakespeare.

That’s exactly how the human creative process works.

Humans take in and then iterate.
Even the most creatively bankrupt of teenage deviantart artists add something new to whatever mall goth mix they spit out.
AI doesn't iterate in the slightest. Only combines and interpolates and combines and interpolates. There is not change or development addition of any new elements.

      >They have a point, imagine how much more soulless everything would be if it was generated by an AI
They don't have a point, though. Everything is soulless as frick already and set to be even more soulless, with or without AI. Not to mention, everything is so fricking focus-tested and devoid of human personality, it might as well be AI anyways. Except AI can actually give you shit you want sometimes

        Anonymous

Ai can have as much soul as the preraphaeite, if you have a poetic prompt and enough knowledge of art to ask it for the right mix of elements.

You can do that already, if training data is sufficient then you can pretty much train a decent model to spit out anything. Some furgay on reddit trained one on the entirety of e621 and furafinnity and has been using it to spit out furry porn, the furry porn is indistinguishable to normal furry porn. My problem with ai is when it is inevitably used for political reasons.

AI could be used to create fake images of crime "victims" that don't exist.

AI could be used to create fake videos of people who don't exist in general.

Ai could be used to create fake video "evidence" of (You) committing a crime that (You) didn't commit.

I'm old enough to remember the advent of MP3s and the music industry reaction. There's no hope fighting it, but something eventually did come along as a substitute: dj culture. From dj culture, lots of new musicians made their fortunes years after the supposed death of the music industry. Anyone who is interested in making art needs to keep an eye out for whatever the next thing in art turns out to be. There will be something that comes along with the sea change, and the people who fight the sea change always end up drowning. You need to ride the next wave, as it were.

This. The creative printing process makes it art. Andy Warhol had others do his silkscreening. Jeff Koons never touches his own work, Ai Weiwei either. Even that black guy that did the Obama portrait with all the sperm in the garden pays a factory full of chinese to paint the paintings.

Among many other things. Any artist worried about this makes images in photoshop for clickbait ads and top 25 lists. Nothing of value to lose. An uninspired artist is not an artist.

Thinking of “the ai” as the artist is completely the wrong approach and the same mistake these art gays are making. The software is akin to a camera, a brush, photoshop, whatever abstraction you like, that it still requires a person controlling it. It’s just another tool.

That's called a master study you knuckle dragging moron. It's a common exercise that artists do wherein they try to replicate what the classical masters produced in order to learn their technique. The goal isn't to repackage the same work an art that some else did. The goal is to learn and better yourself so you can apply the technique to your own original art.

Black person that is exactly what the AI does. it has zero capacity to remember its training data, it just remembers concepts and abstractions (e.g. what makes a car a car) and makes 100% original art. if anything, AI-generated art is more original than human art, because humans, regardless of intention, subconsciously copy that which they've seen before, while AI synthesizes everything out of random noise.

AI art can literally not exists from preexisting art from human artists to generate from. And all it is doing is copying all the way down to generating the same signature that a well known artist uses to sign their work. It has every ability to remember it's training data, that's why it went from uncanny abstractions with too many fingers to reproducing the styles of well known artists just by adding their name to the keywords

Nope. I am a genius and you still don't get it. You can't create artwork with a "prompt" of a few words. The idea of art is to capture certain things that a person wants. If all a person wants can be captured in a few words, it is a google search of existing stuff merged together, it isn't creating art.

If you are creating art, you are thinking about every single thing in the picture. That means many thousands of millions of prompts. "what colour should the reflection on the person's head be" blah blah.

Someone replicating a painting either as an exercise or as a means of creating more examples of it for storage or durability is entirely different than an AI making a mystery meat blend of art work and autogenerating new variants of what already exists.
One is clear copying. Its mechanical replication and everyone involved knows it. The latter is false creativity. Taking what other people have done, blending it into a fine paste, and then spinning off an infinite number of variants. It pretends to make new things.

It's not because they are afraid of AI taking over their job/careers. Its that its a complete game changer in how one can approach art. Artists here have so much of their identity wrapped up in being "an artists" this is an existential to that identity. You spend so much time honing your craft only for a machine to do it faster and maybe arguably better (?) but not actually taking advantage of any of the tools given to you. The real irony is, it was Artists who originally created so much of the tech/tools that AI like stable diffusion and Dall-e uses like LAION 5b.

It kinda like how the Swiss had their national identity into making watches to the point that no-one else held a candle to them. Then game the Japs with their quartz movements that not only were cheaper to manufacture but also had significantly orders of magnitude better accuracy. Just like AI the quartz tech was something they invented.
They used the same arguments how, quartz movments have no soul, killing the craft etc, etc,

you know what that means ?

What's worth more to humans, a pound of Gold or a pound of Aluminium ? Answer: Gold. gold is a precious metal that is hard to find and refine.

art is becoming worthless now. You can get a billion variations now and they are all worthless since they can be generated without needing human input and by anyone. The only ones supporting AI art are coomers, untalented fricks who never made an effort to become something, and homosexual artists who will secretly use AI to make their paintings "better" because they knew they weren't that good with begin with.

The value of something is tied to how laborious is it to produce it.

      >anyone can be an artist now
Remember when everyone became able to use the internet and there was no gatekeeping anymore?
Remember when tiktok made everyone a video creator?

Half the reason actual art is often soulless to begin with is because artist cater to normies and the worst stuff is promoted the most by them. AI is just there to create even more goyslop.
Drawing had basically no real barrier of entry to begin with. We've been drawing even since we've been cavemen, you can put crayons into the hands of a child. What's actually been stopping people is laziness and lack of interest and passion in the subject. So all it's doing is inviting the most apathetic people possible to the medium and expecting them to create something of value. People who actually care about painting don't wanna give up control for some quick results and will keep painting manually unless pressured by monetary incentives.

it happened with games, video games were a lot more thoughtful before anyone could play on their phones, now games are peak globohomosexual propaganda
it happened with music, you needed talent to do anything. Now any zoomer homosexual is a famous musician, you just need a couple face tats and some rapping over an FL studio track.

The AI is the great filter thats gonna separate the wheat from the chaff. Souless "artists", pretentions morons who does nothing but makes images alteration, plastified shit with PS brushes set and call it a piece gonna have to rethink what they are doing. AI is also a great tool for people with real skills whos gonna broad their possibilities and increase their productivity since you can use it as a source for inspiration and reference. I dont know why those fricks are crying out loud, this is something ive been dreaming about for years because i work with this kind of thing and these narrowed brains jumped the whiny train without even consider thats a blessed in disguise.

Also; this is a piece made by Hiroshi penguin joe. The amount of soul in his works are palpable and doesnt mater how sophisticated the AI gets because you are here to enjoy the simplicity and the limitations of his style.

Every "artist" I've known IRL just copied from better sources, never using their own imagination for their art. Whether it's music, painting, etc.

it's the whole point of these freaks. Attaining something with 0 effort. whether it's becoming chad, or a musician, or an artist, they hate effort.

Why go to the gym, watch the diet, and improve my mindset to get stacy if I can simply complain online and wait for my government mandated pussy ?

Why spend 10000 hours mastering a craft or an instrument if AI will make me sound cool ?

It's the low iq masses now pretending to be something more that they are with zero effort, they love it.

Was practicing drawing for years hoping to make it out of my wage job only for this to happen. Life is so clownworld, it's time to end it bros.

Born too early not to be a wageslave, born too late to enjoy AI doing all jobs for humans.

      > Was practicing drawing for years hoping to make it out of my wage job only for this to happen. Life is so clownworld, it's time to end it bros.

this is what 99% of self reported "geniuses" cannot understand.

In order to become an artist you needed to practice drawing, painting, composition, perspective, for years. It was a journey and a sacrifice. Of course jealous unambitious fricks here cannot see that.

Now what's going to happen is that a lot of people are not going to even try to become artists, why try when untalented people are producing amazing AI art by the boatload with some text prompts ?

why spend 2000 hours learning anatomy when a lazy frick will ask the AI to produce it in a few seconds ?

Accelerate. This should happen to all industries. Automate society. Give UBI. Leisure for all. Freedom from fake work. Golden Age and Renaissance. Accelerate the Dark Enlightenment, which will really be the Second Enlightenment. New Hitler.

I love ai art and the fact that art will never again be a career path. Professional artists disgust me. People who eat the wheat of the fields, rest in the safety of a home, and whose only contribution to socioty is art fricking disgust me. I'm glad they will have to find real jobs, and I'm glad that art will return to its roots. No longer will anyone make art for money or fame, the only people who will continue to make art post ai are people who truly enjoy it. This will be a revolution for the quality of human art.

If you don't want your work to be used by AI, don't put your stuff on the internet. Everything published on the internet can and will be stored and archived somewhere. Zoomers and normies don't understand this concept. It's a fundamental part of how the internet works.

Ai is reclaiming art to white men again. Now indogs will have to go make t-shirts or assemble bicycles instead of doing soulless commission pieces. Meanwhile white men still continue to draw dicky for fun and for the sake of art itself. World is healing brothers.

Illustrations are not art. Ask any high art school. All artists I follow in YouTube (actual painters) said that they are ok with AI, that they will use it for their process, and that only "designers" were threatened.

yeah that that is what untalented hack does. They know that they will use it to generate 80% of a piece, then use photoshop to move things around, recolor and then call it a new piece. They will join the legions of hacks doing AI art.
