I’m tired of people who know nothing about how it works telling me who knows nothing about how it works how it’s going to be the most revolutionary thing since the invention of the internet. The tech is pretty cool though, I just don’t see how everyone in my life is going full schizo over it. After being through a few tech hype cycles I’m skeptical.

We've got SIRI and Alexa for more than a decade by now, there is no actual use for any of that shit.

I don't want to talk to the fricking computer in hopes that it understand what function I want it to perform, it's a shit interface, is cumbersome, inconvenient and I actively disable and avoid any front facing "AI" feature companies shove half baked on their products.

It's all got a sinister vibe to it, because it's pretty clear that the hope is that AI either replaces wide swathes of the population or devalues people's labor so they have less power in society.
I've no interest in AI and more importantly it's not going to save us from climate change or get us to space colonization because both of those things are limited by thermodynamics. It's just going to make life even more superficial and tenuous for everyone but the 1%.

Remember when Dall-E Mini came out and it was a sensation? People would click on that button for hours on end hoping for just one more collection of blobs that vaguely resembled "pope francis vs obama fistfight" or whatever. Now comsumer GPUs can generate photorealistic scenes and not a whisper.
When GPT2 came out, much the same thing. Remember the "bottomless pit inspector" meme and how that was basically the funniest thing of 2022? Now GPT-4 writes passable college essays and nobody cares (except college professors, I assume). Posting GPT screenshots is reserved for the lowest pits of reddit, like /r/undertale and their character.ai sans ERPs.
The public at large already has major AI fatigue. BOT is beginning to get it, after it overcame their built-in technophilia.
In 2027, your gaming rig will tutor you in the violin in Swedish and nobody will give a shit.

Another anon linked to universities developing their own ways, including algorithms, to detect students trying to get away with chatgpt-made essays.

Funny and incredibly well-put. I once heard "In the future, anything will be possible, and it will be awful." Which year will we reach that?

Are you really surprised that games that have been kneecapped by being forced to support consoles can't exactly make use of the highest end hardware available? This is a story as old as videogames themselves.

Not yet, we'll get to the point where everything has a shitty ai assistant and that will be the new hell for awhile but it will pass and we'll all go back to b***hing about one of them because we all use it.

The best implementation of AI should be completely invisible to the end user.

faster, more efficient search, predicting actions within the same interface you use, I don't want to fricking chat with the fricking computer, as much as I don't want to fricking chat with a roller brush when I am painting a wall.

I want to talk to people, not to the fricking tools I am using to perform a task.

Not really, I've been using AI more and more as the technology has gotten better and API pricing has gone down.

Ever since about GPT3 this shit just got really good and it's still improving rapidly. GPT4 to 4o was about 14 months and saw a 50% reduction in api price, a big increase in speed, and a modest increase in quality.

I feel if anything people are under-reacting to recent developments and really seem to not quite grasp how fast this is moving. At this point I'm planning to do most of my job with AI and use my spare time to go do remote learning.

    its not fatigue for me,
for me it's frustration and anger.
because people are not seeking AI to change the world (in a positive and beneficial manner).
we literally have fire from mt. olympus in our fricking palms and instead of using it to illuminate the world, we'd rather use it to a fire source to smoke our societal crack with.
I dislike every normie who praises the 'Her' voice because those plebs are the fuel to keep true AI hidden and unobtainable by common man.
to all you OpenAI fanboys, I can't wait for the day you realize the lie you've willingly sold yourself.
