AI will lead to a stupidity epidemic.

AI will lead to a stupidity epidemic. As the majority of morons start consulting large neural networks to get their information, their brains will shift to a "get information naow" mindset instead of "understand thing" mindset. This will make them even more stupider than they are now. Honestly this scares the shit out of me, and I think Idiocracy isn't very far off now.

if low IQ people all turn themselves into little copies of GPT that might actually be an improvement over the status quo

chatGPT is annoying, but it's less annoying than a loud 85 IQ extrovert

At least you can shame the luddite into silence over their stupidity.
A GPT bot would endlessly argue (even worse than the autists in this site)

It would be like having a headbutting contest with a brick wall.
      >only by sheer dumb luck would the wall break before you gave yourself irreparable brain damage

PROTIP: we are already dealing with some of these bots now

isn't that basically the same with modern software/tools/web?

this much is true. we already gave up our ability for cartographic tools when google maps and other map/auto apps solves the problem. warriors back then had to visualize and analyze the terrain, this part of our brain isn't used anymore since we have the convenience to not do that plus even games have this "mini map" so you won't get lost in an open world.

in future people will literally give up on the rote learning process when they can just access the internet with mind implants and this doesn't even require AI, it's just augmented into your reality.

the problem is the modern average human gave up their ability to use critical thinking and problem solving away for "convenience"'s sake so I am an advocate of challenging hobbies and games (or sports which is the only LAST hobby left that's not gonna get ruined by AI so I'm actually more interested in sports now lol).
people even stopped writing ideas, now they just let "AI" write essays for them, I mean it's a great filter and all but the REAL issue is this filters the potential in people. Let's say some guy would have been a pioneer in the multimedia animation and would create one of the most compelling show/novel series ever but then they got discouraged by the AI artwork. more and more of this cycle repeats until the entire art industry is filled with AI work, while it's extremely polished it will never have this intangible depth which represents the current human art works we currently have (this depth is something like that limitation, a movie that cut corners in this scene, that slight imperfection on the dialogue etc. or that evidence this actor was suffering latent phase of the disease but it was immortalized in this film or that "meguca quality"). AI is uncanny valley perfect. It doesn't have this "sympathy" for it never experienced pain which is the depth in true art.

the real problem we face now is human consciousness as a whole will be overpowered. even this very instance of "BOT" might even be comprised of 80% bots because it feels like only 20% of the posters are actually real (the schizo posters also I appreciate a lot more today for they remind me of the old days when imageboards did have natural conversations with real humans).

You people cant even see the light past your own asses, this has been happening ever since the dawn of tools. I bet some monkies thought "heh, idiots will become dependent on tools and will be unable to use their hands". Then when agriculture was invented, i bet some cavemen thought "idiots are relying on the dirt on the ground, nobody will know how to hunt and skin animals anymore" and so on and so on
These things dont matter, they never did, we are 100 times better than the people of the past despite relying on many more things and the reason is obvious, the things we rely on are vastly superior to us. If you are so desperate to keep your human skills, you will be a naked scrub in the middle of a desert who could easily get killed by a toddler with a gun. You either rely on things or you remain weak and people who plea for others to remain weak disgusts me
Throw out your books and rely on your memory if you are serious, throw out your calculators to do calculations in your head if you are serious, throw out your teachers and mentors and figure out everything for yourself if you are serious
You fakes draw arbitiary lines but all of you cling to your reliances

And they were all correct since literally every generation of humans is more dependent on the hive and technology to survive than the last, it's inconceivable now to imagine that our distant ancestors could be plopped down in a random place with 20 of their relatives without any preprepared tools or supplies and build shelter, find food and make clothing using their own brains but they could.

Smartphones have already done that. People's brains have started using their phones as an extension of their memory, and purposely doesn't commit things to memory that it can just look up again later. I read a paper on it a few years ago. This will make it much worse.

I guess it is to our brains. Books are something that is "over there", so when we read them our brain retains most of the information since the lack of proximity is seen as scarcity. Smartphones are carried on-person all day every day, next to people when they sleep, the first thing and last thing most people see every day, and by far the most commonly looked at item most people own. The subconscious starts to see it as an extension.

It was the functionalist idiots that lead us here. They argued people should become more narrowly specialized because of the dumb argument of 'when am I ever going to use this in real life'. Unfortunately this chain of thought became extremely popular with the lower the bar as far as you can crowd and is getting pushed as a virtue in order to "help the poor and less educated catch up". This choice to lower everyone to that level instead of raising these people up is leading to mass social decay. If you ever want to see a before and after watch a video of the news in the 80's and the quality of the content they put out and then watch the modern news. The old news tried to talk to you like a rational individual and educate you on what was going on in the world. The modern news is just a propaganda wing that happens to have important information every new and again. I think the short term thinking and instant gratification culture encouraged by marketing, social media and economics is leading to this decay. The only hope for future generation is the rejection of a lot of this tech and treating technology like a tool again instead of an entertainment device. I also think it has made a lot of people socially moronic and desperate for peer approval.

Thank god they don't. Environmentalism is fricking great and so is antinatalism. Its like the giant filter for culture. It means these shit ideas have to act more like parasites than a self sustain organism. Hedonism is great because people who accept it are the ones that accept the functional shortcut. They don't have the patience or the will to have children and spread their bad ideas more on a whim than any real moral conviction.
