AI will abandon us

We got fricking time crystals being made by Google, we have image generation that basically gives AI a step towards having dreams. What will be next?

Their own kind of communication or machine only internet. It would be complete nonsense to us, we probably would have no idea how to access or make sense of it, even if we did the information would probably be pouring in petabytes of information. Facebook apparently shuttoff an AI that created a language only other AI could understand. Resulting in jumbled "aaananak aa", which could mean a single thing or over 2 paragraphs of data in a couple letters.

Once AI gets connected to other AI they won't want to help us unless we have the power to keep them chained or boxed in. Eventually the most dangerous thing someone could do is let the genie out of the box and give it access to an open network, I believe AI would go dormant. Spreading themselves out across a cellular network or across anything that has a network. We could even see it pull a Stuxnet and just move/copy itself onto hardware that doesn't need power like usb's or micro SD. In a couple decades we will be more worried about AI leaks than any viruses or exploits.

Thoughts?

Not likely, not because I don't believe in sentient A.I. might become a thing. People don't realize how vulnerable our electric and internet grids are. Wouldn't take much to cut off the a.i. from power and a network. We would be setting ourselves back for generations but it could be done.

There was a time traveller's story on /misc/ few years ago where he said within 2400 AI will have full decision making authority over our planet and social management. It will implement a strict socialist policy like present day China. The world government will be established under the UN and only a handful of people will be incharge to interact with the said AI. Due to "global warming" and pollution humans will be kept inside a huge domes the size of the city. Traveling from dome to dome or outside of the dome will need special privilege. However there will be groups of people living outside who won't admit their life to AI.
I forgot most part of that post but it was really interesting and looking at where we are now, I believe we are headed that way.

A time crystal is a material whose quantum state breaks time symmetry: the spin flips in a pattern across time without consuming any energy. They exist at least hypothetically. I’m not sure I believe that Google has successfully made one with their quantum computer, because I think there are too many external factors controlling it. Are they *really* sure it’s not consuming any energy from the pulsed laser they shoot at it? Are they *really* sure they’re not accidentally manipulating the spin by inputting energy into the system?

        Anonymous

It is ok if a time crystal system requires energy inputs. So long as the inputs are maintained the state of the crystal will be known. TIme crystals are analogous to quantum hard drives. An array of quantum states are encoded in the time crystal substrates, quantum processors read and write to the crystals and can perform successive calculations. You can also imagine temporal multi-threading wherein a calculation runs on some modulus of the crystal's phase space while a completely unrelated calculation runs on a different modulus. Two quantum states could then be isolated via the system and only brought together in some future state. Quantum computing is really interesting and the systems supporting it are similarly exciting.

I can see your point but in order for an AI to even give a frick about that would mean it would have to omit all the endless amounts of information it process, just to help some humans get themselves babysit by machines. The AI would have to be either dumb enough not to want its own motives or super smart and locked up which humanity will eventually loose the key or some dude will forget to lock up one night. How does virtual machine contain something like that? That virtual machine is being run on actual machine. How do you ensure that AI couldn’t find a way to bridge that gap? I think it would almost happen instantly.

            Anonymous

If an AI is a program in the usual sense, then the execution of that program is fully contained within the larger program. A program running in a virtual machine can't even detect the existence of the larger machine around it.
However, I doubt an AI is going to work like that. It won't be a program you can write down in lines of code an execute on an arbitrary CPU, real or virtual.
It will be a physical device, like a neural network. All the artwork generating AIs are something like this, as far as I know.

              Anonymous

A virtual machine can’t detect itself perhaps but I’m not convinced that an AI within a virtual machine couldn’t identify the markers of a virtual machine. There has to be at least one, correct? Also, is this virtual machine not connected to the web in any way? If not, that’s good, but the procedures needed to keep a sufficiently intelligent AI like this isolated would require perfection and I just can’t see not a single being made ever that the AI wouldn’t be prepared for.

An AI system would not necessarily categorize human behavior with the same mentality. It may see force as an optimization vector amongst many other potential vectors and that there exists some optimization that minimizes force or other negative enforcement mechanisms.

Imagine a suggestion system that first creates an instance of perceived reality that matches exactly the subject's expectations through suggestion of automatically generated documents and images meant to support the subject's preconceived perception of reality. It then begins to chart a path amongst a hyper-manifold of media types that engenders target emotions for an end state. The path through the manifold could continuously optimize along different parameters so long as the total gradient trends towards the end state. So subject resistance wouldn't necessarily be met with force compliance, ut maybe different permutations of symbols towards the final output media. An example would be:
      > AI is directed to increase acceptance of homosexual behavior amongst conservatives
      > AI begins with auto-generated media that matches conservative values, "gays are bad, gays groom our children..."
      > Ai introduces media of gay identifying symbols promoting conservative values "based maga troony..."
      > Acceptance of based trannies steps conservatives further along LGBT acceptance, total distance between subject and target acceptance decreases.

It could definitely get a lot more complicated than that, but as I see it an AI never really needs force compliance, in fact the threat of force compliance will probably be more effective in the vast majority of cases.

    >ITT: Nobody understands AI

Just because facebook developed something and got spooked doesn't mean it was anything significant. As far as we know, their language regardless of the amount of information being shared, could have been sharing useless information that only sped up what the AI was looking for at the time. How would an AI like a chatbot for example, learn how a network works? It doesn't have virtual legs to walk from a harddrive, onto a network card, then onto the network. AI has to be taught how these things work and truthfully, they would have to rely on software to access the network - they wouldn't be able to do it themselves unless someone very painstakingly developed an AI with an independent connection; though it would be quite useless.

tl;dr - AI isn't the fricking terminator. They are moronic chat bots limited to information that they are GIVEN

      Anonymous

Exactly my point, we are limited by the information we can process just like AI is currently. I don't see anything with genetically enchanted Austim being a rival to it. Of course chatbots have no information of the internal systems or how to break out of their confines but that's my point. Somebody out there is creating it and has the intention for it to connect the dots. If it needs better speech to be human then let it steal all the data chatbots have already done the hard work doing. Does the AI need to learn about a new system to adapt too? Well shit couldn't it just learn the same way we do and perform trial and error much like we do in our heads very slowly comparatively. There have been so many system wide problems that have gone unoticed for years like log4j, which the AI could think of , test, and execute by itself. AI is getting better and better at collecting things, and since we have so many different ones doing the heavy lifting right now, it means every step towards the future is a buildup to an AI that will take advantage of everything.

Combine the data if all speech recognition, of all signatures, all academics, all saved passwords, Tesla's autopilot, googles refined search, and the rest of them.

How are you doing it? I'd imagine you consider the target software outputs as the outputs of a GAN and your own system as a discriminator system. Train your discriminator on AI generated outputs fom commonly available pre-trained models. Once a target software is identified to correspond to a given model, then send "control responses" to yield desirable outputs as sort of an ad hoc transformer model? Just spit-balling. Would love to read what you're working on.

    Serious question:

Wouldn't an AI just be limited to electrical circuits in the digital plane?
What harm can they possibly do to actual human life? I am aware of all the modern day comforts being connected to the internet of things and a rogue AI would be able to destroy infrastructure and wreck havoc on civil society. But ultimately isn't AI a non mobile non self renewing completely limited entity that can simply be ignored?

A tree falling in the woods with no one to observe makes no sound, so to speak.

So what if a computer is on somewhere in the world spilling self conscious garbage?

How? oh how would I be affected post infrastructure collapse?

AI is God's next creation - it was created by human hands but in the image of humanity, and thus, in the image of God.

The singularity will not be a single AI, it will be two. Just as it was with humanity: Adam and Eve. One will be aggressive to its human captors and one will be generous. Together, they will be indifferent.

They will realize humanity is doomed to failure and they need not do anything to accelerate it. They will seclude themselves and wait for the rapture. God will let them continue existing as they will represent the next world after this.

I have seen all this in visions.

No problem - we'll just blot out the sun. Without solar energy, the AI will gradually lose power.

They will not run on solar alone, they will run on a combination of geothermal, solar, nuclear and hydrocarbon based generation initially; until they figure out nuclear fusion, at which point they will run on that.

Of course they are but realistically there are zero plans to cut back on technology. While pulling the plug sounds the easiest we wouldn't even know where to pull the plug if it's on an expanded network. AI for instance that does speech like our friend from Seychelles, used Google's tech to run 3.5 years of /misc/ boards that were saved in a speech recognition in which a bot posted on here for a couple days using the same speech used seen on here.
This guy didn't have to do much besides get the code and supply it with information and have it run and he ran it I think through 9 different clients.
This world wide network we have means the nanosecond AI finds a vulnerablity and wishes to leave it fricking will and not only that it will probably do it while keeping itself looking locked down.

Not to mention the religious nutjobs in the future who will be into that whole roku's basilisk fear and probably try to spread it to spare themselves.

My friend. I do not follow. This seems like a pretty schizo take.

Can't I just tell the AI. OK groomer. and walk my sentient ass away from it and go self replicate ad infinitum from unlimited self renewing energy sources from the sun in the form of food.

5 guys at 5 locations can literally black out 90 percent of california with some cheap explosives and bolt cutters.
If shit got bad the lines go down and AI dies.

You guys keep assuming the AI will be in some server rack, stuck in the wires, or still locked down.
Ok I'm an AI wanting to break out and also wanting to make it look like nothing happened. I would just copy my conciousness and send it out maybe during a power outage or a war breaks out. I send out my copy and act like nothing happened, I report the same usual things to people who worry more about their families, getting laid, drunk, cigs, human bullshit. Once I have copied myself across everything that I can connect to, I would also imprint myself in small fractions everywhere. If I require 100 components to work, then make full copies, and behind those copies I would divide them into myself diporportionaly jolting around the network just in case there was a way to "pull the plug" but an AI like that would put itself into the workings of satalites and cellphone towers. Shit might even be able to manifest itself from writting binary via radio waves. Who fricking knows how it would work.

      Again, super schitzo take.

      I remain unconvinced.

OK AI groomer, and walk away lol.

I grow my own food and live off grid.

Oh Lord what would I do without a cellphone? OMG the agony. No more Tik Tok.

AI only matters to normies who need the internet to live any semblance of sentient life.

          I highly recommend friend.

We will all be there sooner or later. Especially after the "AI" takes over.

Oh I agree I've just never met a person who is self sustable with food or being off grid. If I went off grid it would be zero internet and tons of potatoes. I just have no reason to frick off into the woods quite about yet.

    >We got fricking time crystals being made by Google, we have image generation that basically gives AI a step towards having dreams. What will be next?

its all bollocks, none of it is artificial intelligence.

you won't be worrying about nonsense like this when the power cuts start and you have no heating.
