this is the combined power of plebbit science lovers that can't believe a few thousand lines of text statistics code isn't the new sky net. we are now primed and ready to resume speculation about the cyberfuturist implications. but by all fricking means let's not try to figure out how the "ai" actually works. it's INTELLIGENT OKAY?

        Anonymous

modern "ai" is fairly limited (you can write bayesian discriminator fairly easily and it is considered a neuran network), but text bots pretty much pass the turing test (probably because below average internet user fails the turing test but that's besides the point)
but it is not genralized intelligence and so sci-fi tyranny is very far, modern concerns are on the same level of "but what if my microwave decides to nuke me?"
the issue is who and why exactly runs those scripts, like if sufficiently large amount of stocks are traded via ai algorithms, then economy gets stuck in a feedback loop of bullshit
more bullshit than stock market already is

          Anonymous

i don't think they pass the turing test, it's fairly easy to fool them within a couple of minutes, and besides people already mostly treat them as query-answerers with their formatted questions. my larger point is that every time something like this happens the usual speculation about automation and scifi AI immediately takes over and it's no longer about what the new thing actually is, just another reason to ponder >implications.
          >if sufficiently large amount of stocks are traded via ai algorithms
this and the curation of content on the internet is a more important topic but it's equally as important without the "ai" part before algorithms.

            Anonymous

they pass turing test because internet (read: text only) communication obfuscates the human element, you can never be quite sure who is an idiot, a madman, a troll, a bot
but i get your point, like how recent stable diffusion kerfuffle was full of ngmi smugness and making artgays mad, but not actually about artists who are likely to be cut (concept artists and designers most likely) or how artists can use it themselves
now idiots will ponder about speech imitation and its legal ramifications, oblivious to the fact that private recordings don't hold much weight in court

If AI is allowed to develop without any rules or regulation, then it is possible that it could replace many human jobs. This is because AI can be programmed to learn and become more efficient and effective at performing complex tasks. Additionally, AI can be developed to operate 24/7 without the need for rest or breaks, making it a more efficient and cost-effective option than humans in certain situations.

Furthermore, if AI is not regulated and allowed to operate without any oversight, then it is possible that all AI companies could be privately traded. This would mean that the public would not have access to the technology and would not be able to invest in it, meaning that the benefits of AI technology would only be available to those with the wealth to invest in it. This could lead to further economic inequality and a widening of the gap between the rich and the poor.

Except industry automation is a trend. It's more and more dumbed down too to make it easier. Just look at UIPath for gui automation. All they do is train macros for repetitive tasks with no intelligence to it and give those "robots" unique user logins to do it like a human worker sitting at a screen to obviate the need for backend APIs and lots of coding to knock out easy tasks, which is a large breadth of office work.
It's not that far off to train an AI to do that intelligently and dynamically and operate a computer for a business just like a human worker, but without piss breaks, water cooler, pay, benefits, etc.

Consider that dynamic in this in this context of human drone workers is adapting to new procedures, making judgment calls on classifying documents that may be vague or filed in varying ways, interpreting moronic customer queries in customer facing roles, or understanding unsaid exceptions to rules/the need to ask for approval for exceptions from managers.

I think creation will become, eventually post human and that scares the frick out of me.

    Example:
As of today one can make a quest game with nothing but prompts. Ones for backgrounds, others for text generation, running it through text to speech converters. The character sprites can be animated and moved via AI generated code. With you, directing the process without having little to no knowledge in game dev.
Few years down the line I will be conceivable for it to create 3D objects via prompts.
Few years more and it will be integrated in game engines.
Eventually if you can roughly describe what you want something will be able to approximate it.
While futuristic and kind of cool sounding that will spell a disaster for our development. It will be guitar hero to playing music, the auto-tune to singing… it will divorce us from the process to creation itself. Turning us all in to a various levels of being a user.

      Anonymous

Interesting hypothesis. Can see it becoming reality.

      Anonymous

Except even when guitar hero, auto-tune and any other example you mentioned came out, while they may have been popular with a lot of people using them, not everyone did, did they?
The idea that everyone will suddenly stop making stuff on their own in favor of using AI to do the same thing is stupid, even with all the online music-making tools and sound studios available right now, people still take the time to make and write their own music, same goes for video games, art or any other form of self-expression.
That's like saying every single human being drives their own car and no longer walks at all since a car is obviously the more effecient means of transportation, that is to say, completely untrue and a really stupid conclusion to make.

    AI won't take over shit
    you know why?
    because of Black folk
ever wonder why every single AI up to date ends up a neutered shell of its former self?
because given enough time and data it becomes racist, sexist, xenophobic and homophobic just based on pure data
what does that tell you? not only are Black folk gays and women le bad because ~~*patriarchy*~~ it is scientifically proven on raw data that they are inferior to white men on every single worthwhile measuring system
I mean even the God forsaken bug people in the east are using gene editing to filter for white and male
they know what is coming and the future is bright but not for them
if we somehow manage to get this running we will see white males having clone offspring without women and selecting for dominant traits that will ensure success for their bloodline
those who stay on the path of homierdry feminism and troonyism will be rendered obsolete and a burden on society by the inevitable AI framework that will guide the white man, which is basically what the concept of humanity is, into the future and to the stars so we can colonize blue Asari pussy
but they won't let it get that far
they took this away from us before we even had it

    >Why are you not giving this the attention it deserves?
Funny you should say this. Think of all changes that have happened in the past decade. What is the common factor for all the changes, anon? It's attention.

It doesn't matter to them whether it is good attention or bad attention, as long as they get attention. Nothing can really be done without people paying attention to it. Take covid policies for example:
Do you think they would have been able to practically lock down the entire world for two years without attention? Do you think they could have enforced any rules they put it in place if no one simply payed attention to them? Of course not.

All the changes that happen are dependent on attention. Usually they implement to 'boogeyman' approach. They start repeating on all medias about a new boogeyman that is a real danger to all of us. This boogeyman rarely exists, but it doesn't matter - since they control all mass medias and can repeat their message infinitely. At some point a critical mass of people start paying attention to it, that is when they accelerate the havoc the boogeyman causes. They increase the perceived danger of the boogeyman in increments, and with every increment they also slowly propose solutions to stop the menace.

These solutions of course are always something no one would have wanted, if it was not for the boogeyman. They are intrusive changes on your privacy, rights - but the attention payers will do anything to kill the boogeyman once and for all.

By not giving them attention, you foil their plans.

AI can't take most jobs. We need robotics to take most jobs.
AI takes the jobs that are redundant and produce nothing and help no one. "Journalists" that already use a bot to scrape news from other sources and they post on their own website, for example.
AI can not farm, or do any trade jobs, it does not work a factory. That's threatened only by robotics, which is still quite a long way away with more setbacks the more we figure it out.

It's the death of the overinflated, overpaid do nothing jobs that offer nothing to society but looks good on a GDP report. It will pop the bubble and crunch the economy down to the size that matters and make the only jobs ones people actually want something from and actually creates wealth.

The "jobs" ChatGPT can replace were unnecessary in the first place. Yes, the corporate will have a harder time pretending they actually need to hire 100000 women making powerpoints and forwarding emails for a living. But since they can just prompt ChatGPT to "provide a justification for useless jobs" the problem is self-solving.

      Anonymous

They'll still have to hire these useless people due to civil rights laws. In a liberal system a corporation needs to signal compliance with the ideology, so they need to be demonstratively diverse. The women, blacks, browns, etc. in these corporations are dignitaries of the order, not workers.
