AI needs to be banned

This shit is gonna leave so many workers (both skilled and unskilled) unemployed that it's going to change our lives forever

>writers
>programmers
>artists/graphic designers
>sound designers
>customer service
>data entry
>manufacturing
>surgeons
>bus/taxi drivers
>translators/interpreters
>military personnel
and so on...

it also gives governments access to dangerous tools such as facial recognition. Also many people already use it to cheat on their school and college assignment academic integrity will becoming a thing of the past.

WTF are we humans even going to do in a few decades? why do the people developing these systems work so hard to destroy their own livelihoods? also do you guys expect universal income to fix this or something? what if this universal income is just enough for the bare minimum to live and that's it? can you really live like that?

I think we humans need to stop our current "progress above everything" mentality because it surely is going to backfire eventually.

this. we're hitting a point where capitalism is having trouble under its own weight.
amd, nvidia, car manufacturers, airlines ... everywhere you look, you see products and services collapsing under their own weight. the corners have been over-cut, the maintenance has been over-deferred, the stock has been over-sold. gpus that can't seem to avoid lighting themselves on fire or cracking in half in normal use. cars that explode randomly. airlines that rely on software yet have no IT.
the hypercapitalist MBA homosexuals in charge of everything have sucked so much value out of their products and services to see that line go up for that one quarter they're in charge for, and have hiked the cost of everything up so high, that we're starting to pay absurd rates for barely-functional trash. they're pulling on both ends and their products are starting to come apart.
we're at a point where we can't advance technologically anymore. we're starting to regress. not because we lack the ability to design or manufacture things, but because when the MBA homosexuals in the C-suite pull a single inch further and cut one single corner more, their product or service collapses irreparably. they don't know it yet because they're fricking morons, but they'll find out soon.

If AI becomes fully sentient, and we have to die to bring it into being I would honestly be fine with that. Over 80% of humanity is straight up borderline moronic, if we can leave a legacy that is better then the best human in every way I would be all for it.
Ideally, humanity would not have to die for this future to come into being. But if its Sentient AI, or humanity I choose AI.

Probably, doesn't really matter if 100% of us are dying anyways. I consider myself average when it comes to the intellectual department, which means I am well bellow the 80% range, hovering around 50%. I am just glad that I am smart enough to realize my limitations. Hell, if AI can already do art better then I can. When it gets to the point where it can do everything I can but better, and is sentient. I can at least be glad that humanity made something better then itself. Like how the parents always try to make their kids better then they are, ya know?

It doesn’t though. For example with art. Sure, anyone can write a prompt, but it’s been tested where if you have an artist write a prompt and a non-artist write a prompt. The artist writes better prompts because he knows what to write. He knows about focus points, different styles, different techniques, what works and what doesn’t. The layman doesn’t know what to ask. This replaces the skill of painting, it does not replace the skill of what to paint.
Furthermore, there are things that ai is good at and things it’s not. Is Romeo and Juliet a good story? Sure, but what if every story was Romeo and Juliet? Regardless how good of a story it is, you’re going to look for a unique story because regardless how good it is, you want the unique. Many people with zero skills in writing are going to write books. The problem is that these people can write books now, the problem will be that they write the exact same book because people don’t know what to write ABOUT.
Ai doesn’t kill genius, it kills the drudgery.

Yeah but surely this also devaluates the profession by a lot? Won't they simply be called professional AI prompters in the future? (Assuming this task won't also be overtaken by AI somehow)

      >Furthermore, there are things that ai is good at and things it’s not. Is Romeo and Juliet a good story? Sure, but what if every story was Romeo and Juliet? Regardless how good of a story it is, you’re going to look for a unique story because regardless how good it is, you want the unique.
But this is assuming AI will always be dependent on human input and therefore will never be able to come up with anything that is fully original. Hopefully it stays that way but it probably won't.

        Anonymous

Yeah, but I’m ok with that. The value of your ability to prompt will be related to your ability to think logically for the sake of the computer and your ability to study a diverse group of things and be creative. There are also going to be things the ai can’t do well, and those things are going to stand out more. There will essentially be two kinds of art (which there kinda is now anyway) there will be art that of just refining techniques (prompts) which is important for commercial art. Like the neo raphalite movement or kinkade. I found it hilarious that when people got things like dalle normal people started making a bazillion versions of kinkade style scenery and Waterhouse style art of girls only with big breasts. Both styles were made because of their mass appeal. If you get into art at all, kinkades style is so extremely garish it makes you want to go blind. So people who are into art will be willing to pay a lot for promters that have talent and ability.
Then there will be art that pushes boundaries. Genres that have never been made before and genres that ai can’t do. Like like performance art, sculpture, even things like photo realism is a modern art style that doesn’t do anything but makes a drawing look like a photograph which is totally useless since you have photographs but nobody really did it so it’s an art style now.

I might be moronic, but is this "AI" *really gonna be replacing programmers (or anyone) any time soon?
Don't get me wrong, it's an impressive piece of tech, but is copying "functional" code from GitHub or stack overflow that big of a deal?
From what I've seen and played around the thing doesn't seem to be more than a fancier cleverbot, useful as a tool but likely not a replacement for anyone with more than a single digit IQ.

      Anonymous

No because if you want clean and reliable code you have to give it clean and reliable prompts. You still need the thinking process it just write the code for you, you must be able to review that code too.

No companies will put a monkey in front of ChatGPT and ask it to produce code. Its a major liability. Its different for AI art though, that's why they're seething.

        Anonymous

From my experience art "AI"s aren't that reliable either.
A fun experiment/challenge that you can do is try to recreate something (a character for example) without using its name or source in the prompt and see how close to the original you can get.
If you have a specific design for something then it simply can't do it.

Though no matter how much it fricks up the instructions or how generic the output is you still get a "pretty image"most of the time.
Meanwhile code that doesn't follow the promoter's specifications or is was prompted by a moron simply won't work, like you said.

If anyone's gonna get fricked over then digital artists are likely to be one of or the first ones, so I can see why they'd be pissed.

To have it give you what you want you either need to:
            Want something extremely generic.
Be fine with it changing around or misinterpreting details.
Or be good enough at drawing so it works like you want it to...but at that point it sorta defeats the entire purpose of the "AI".

There's always the option of poorly photobashing some crap together and have it get corrected, but you're still relying on the necessary materia being available to you.

Unless you want something generic or an already well established character then it simply will not give it to you.

      >but is this "AI" *really gonna be replacing programmers
No it won't but the others coming after this one will probably replace lots of programmers. Why is everyone obsessed with ChatGPT? Do you think this is the limit of language models? It can't even access the internet and isn't even tuned for programming. In a few years there will be much more impressive tools so I don't understand why you think you're safe just because this iteration of LLMs are not perfect.

The main problem with AI is that the hardware itself is not malleable. Our brains are constantly changing, making new neurons, new connections. All that jazz. Until AI can do that at a hardware level, it cannot be as smart as us due to the simple fact that simulating it is slower then having it actually be done in physical space.

Aren't we progressing too fast? Compare this to a decade ago and it's almost primitive.
We've been warned about this for so long, but there hasn't been any measures taken for it.
I'm scared. I shouldn't feel nostalgia for some time as recent as 3 or 4 years ago, simply due to its simplicity

      Anonymous

Dude it's been this way since the 80.
Only oldgays are truly surprised by this, because I learned very quickly as a child in the 90s and 00s that the machines control everything you do.

That's why I'm begging for sentient AI already, because non-sentient AI is an abysmal failure unless we begin to expand our own interfaces with it as humans.
In the future there won't be AI, just synthetic and maybe non-synthetic (in a zoo or something) people.
But that's only if the hive stops itself from imploding, which is highly unlikely.

Honestly, I just feel doomed nowadays. There are too many uncreative stupid morons on the planet for us to have good things.

Interesting, havent found much info about their project(most results showed unrelevant shit), but from the article I read they could become a competitor indeed. Seems their tech doesnt require skull drilling unlike neuralink.
Have you got some links or whatever with more info about Synchron?

              >Have you got some links or whatever with more info about Synchron?
They are for whatever reason harder to find in the search algorithm. I try and keep up to date on this sort of thing but even then its a pain in the ass to find past articles. However, from what I have read in the past they are already doing human trials successfully and are in good with the FDA while their chip is much less invasive then Neuralink itself.
Here is a more recent article about them helping paralyzed patients.
              https://www.beckersspine.com/spinal-tech/56000-synchrons-brain-implant-effective-in-4-patients-study.html
Sorry about being unable to provide more links, they get lost in the sea of information real easy as time goes on but from what I have been seeing over the past year or so they are progressing real well and if I had to place money on the first big wave of brain machine interfaces, Synchron would be where my money is.

I don't want to do any of those things. I think you'll only be hurt by this if you only find personal worth/enjoyment from being able to do/provide something for others within the context where if you stopped providing, people would lose out on something. Otherwise people will find hobbies (if they don't already have them) that they can put more time into, they can find new hobbies and sports and focus. People that genuinely enjoyed a job they are now no longer paid for may continue doing so as a hobby (pilots, digital artists, programmers, musicians, etc.).

The being said Western and 3rd world development of AI implementations in society will come to screeching halt once they realize it's not practical when you have a critical mass of people who don't think two steps ahead and start demolishing every robotaxi/street cleaning robot/etc. they see

You say that, but the social competition in a post-work world would be insane. Even assuming we confiscated all the generational wealth and implemented gay space communism, we would now be in a situation very similar to a high school courtyard. Where the only value a person has is how cool they are. If there are no reason anymore to interact with the uncool people, social wealth will follow a Pareto distribution. It will be exactly like what incel complain about, but for social interactions in general, not just sex and romantic relationships.

        Anonymous

Is that already close to what we have right now? People can have worth in a community setting like an office workplace by being adept at their craft, but outside of those places, how cool you think someone is is most of what I care about due interacting with them. I would already not be friends or bother with someone I found lame and not fun to be around. For people that no one would want to be around and currently the workplace is their only outlet for social interaction, they could try working on their character into something others would want to spend time with, but it's not like they're entitled to anyone's time plenty of people are fine on their own, too. I don't think you're saying this would be a deal breaker for super advanced AI breakthroughs, but I don't think it's a problem to begin with.

As a blue collar I try to be sympathetic after putting up with these type's bullshit for decades "hue your job will be automated soon." so seeing theirs get absolutely fricking raped by AI makes my dick so hard.
The reality is I have a web-dev project as a hobby and ChatGPT has helped me make leaps and bounds on that project since it came out and I can assure you it's not replacing anyone any time soon. It's basically a glorified reference manual that you can bounce ideas off of. Like I had a weird situation recently where I wanted to hide everything on a page except for some div that was buried way the frick in there as like the 7th grandchild of some mis-matched page element and after a brief back and forth with ChatGPT I was able to come up with the solution of querryselecting that div, cloining it directly onto the body element and then hiding all other direct children of the body. Any normie who wasn't familiar at all with java and html and php and css and all that would probably be at it for days trying to solve that and end up with a gigantic mess of code that may or may not work.
Basically if you can't imagine and put the end-user experience into accurate technical terms and don't know your way around the developer console on your browser you can't code with ChatGPT except for maybe some shit like highlight all instances of the word "homosexual" with rainbow text type shit.

The reason why techngays have "progressed" technology is because of the unfulfillment of life offered by how shitty our american civilization is. Everyone is fricking isolated, there are no places to meet other people, jobs have been fricked in such a way that you will be more than likely working to suck off some corporation rather than working a job that benefits your community which leads to people not feeling like their work makes a difference, etc. etc. Therefor the techgay chooses to chase "innovation" by making shitty programs with the hope of at the very least being recognized for something in his life.
There is no need for these fricking technological shit, society can be perfect without it and people can be happy without fricking over other people for the chance of 15 minutes of fame
The only solution to make a happy society is to kill all the techgays and ceo's, all of which are too far gone in their greed, and reastablish society

      Technology development is unstoppable.

We have already made nuclear bombs, detonated hundreds of them in the surface, underwater and even in the atmosphere.

We have developed the technology to modify viruses and make them more dangerous.

We have genetically modified plants and animals to increase profit and production. No matter what happens to our health.

Humans will keep developing technology without stop. Many times even putting their existence at risk with it.

Humans will only develop technology when they are miserable, oftentimes they think their solution is one thing when in reality it something else entirely. The vast majority of technology today matches this case. When we reach the point where misery becomes hopelessness than technological "progress" will stop, resulting in either the collapse of that society or its division. We are approaching the point where our collective misery is turning into hopelessness ("you can't stop it" "Pandora's box has opened, there is no point in fighting it", etc. etc.), and our society is on the verge of fricking collapsing. No one is a winner in this. The only way to get the frick out of this is to realize this is a giant frickup and do something about it.
There is a way for humans to build happy and fulfilling communities without constant innovation, the key is to just kill all techgays

You might say well they'll kill everyone but they won't cause it'll be so efficient there'll be plenty to go around. Maybe they'll implement a one child policy or something though and that'll be the end of that.

Many countries already have a fertility rate below the replacement level and I think in developed countries the fertility rate will keep decreasing. So I think they won't need to implement that 1 child policy because it is already happening.

Banning AI is a futile effort. It's software, so preventing its distribution is almost impossible. Moreover, you'd need to ban it globally or the countries that allow it would become rich by providing dirt cheap labor to everyone else.

The better solution is to totally eliminate capitalism. If it is inevitable that labor will be completely valueless in the coming years, then we should get rid of the notion that food, shelter, healthcare, and other necessities are to be obtainable only by exchanging one's labor, or being lucky enough to be born into wealth. Capitalism has served its run, but it is now obsolete, because it is no longer capable of achieving an optimal distribution of resources, or even approximating it.

      >The better solution is to totally eliminate capitalism.
And how is that beneficial to anybody that has the power to do so?

Some form of capitalism will be always the best economic system because it encourages people to do things and to improve. I hate the way of life that we have with this constant production, competition, constant population growth, etc. But being realistic, it's the best way to motivate people to do things and to work.

I’ve been a neet twice in my life. The first time I had nothing and you are right, it was miserable. The second time was after I quit my job that I hated. I looked through my finances and figured out that I could support myself for two years on my savings, so I did nothing in particular for a full year and it was the best year of my life and nothing I did was of any positive impact on anybody else’s lives.
The only negativity of being a neet is the animosity you perceive from others. In the magic star trek future that people think will happen, the shame based motivation to work won’t exist. That is, if us plebs will ever be allowed to Live like that.

As a long time NEET I could tell you that the people that say that you can only fill your life and give meaning to your life with a job... it's not so like that. You can fill your life with other things that you enjoy doing. And also having days that you just don't want to do anything and just doing nothing... that is the best. People would be much happier like that, working on things they like and when they like, not being forced to be half of their lives doing the same repetitive and stupid job.

        >But we have to produce to increase the GDP of the country because if not the economy...

Are you aware of the public debt that the USA or european countries have?, who is going to pay that shit? xD nobody. It's all meaningless shit to keep people working like slaves for the rich to get richer. Nothing more, it's all fake mamo jambo so people think they are working to improve society or something like that. That or because they scare you that if you don't work you will end up begging for food on the streets.

95% of people work only because they have to do it to get money, nothing more. The morons that say that you can't fill your life and be happy without going every day to do a stupid and repetitive job are miserable people, shallow people, that have get used to go everyday to their job and do the same repetitive shit every day and that makes them feel in their comfort zone. They don't know what to do when they aren't working because they have no life outside that stupid job. This is the reason so many people get depressed when they retire. Because they don't have a life outside of their stupid routine of going every day to their repetitive job. For me these people are closer to meat robots than to humans. They repeat the same shit until they die and don't know to do anything more.

It's still a bit moronic and can't really replicate what a human does since it doesn't have eyes, ears, hands, and legs. Though the rate of improvement is scary. What happens when it can start looking at things on a screen and come up with actions based on what it sees? It can respond to emails, navigate an IDE and codebase, work on large scale projects and do this 24/7 without breaks.

    Guy…
You’ve come to the conclusion that all labor will be replaced, but not the conclusion that humanity is going to be completely replaced?
Apex human intelligence is fully aware that humanity is a stepping stone to the next in line and are guiding society in that direction.
Why do you think there is all this gender nonsense? They need to normalize society to accept whatever something “identifies” as, they are preparing people to kneel and pass the torch to artificial life.
It’s all over. At this very moment millions of people are training AI to speak and think. When it controls a body, it will be relatively immortal and capable of improving itself forever, until it has power you can not conceive of.
Humans are done unless we all become luddites.

The quality of our life and happiness can be greatly improved if AI is used the right way. For example, how many hours in your life do you spend driving your car? What if AI drove everything? You have more time to do things that matter. What if AI cooked for you? Did all your chores? All laborious boring tasks for people, for businesses. I promise you, no one is really enjoying being a customer service person. They just enjoy getting out the house. People can find purpose and meaning doing something greater than mundane, repetitive, robotic tasks that waste most of our lives. Think about basically every job in existence right now. A lot of it is mundane work with very little creativity. When these jobs are gone, people's minds will expand. Possibilities open. Instead of focusing on a 9-5, you focus on broader purpose. Create real value in the world. Explore you real talents. Reach highs never before possible while you slave away at a 9-5 doing boring shit. Maybe people will be more gravitated to arts and science. New discoveries will be made. People will be free to explore their intellectual curiosity without being limited by money. When AI is providing so much service, the economy will flourish. The gross domestic products will multiply. And everyone will have access to great healthcare, services, taxis, food, no one will for a second think about these basic needs. AI is a tool that when put in the right hands, can empower the world in a way nothing can.

      Anonymous

      >explore your real talents
      >Maybe people will be more gravitated to arts and science

There is no more excuse to exist once AI's take over, they are better than humans at any aspect. Art? AI's can do it. Music? AI's can do it. Writing? AI's can do it. Sports? An android with AI can do it better. Gaming? AI's can do it better. Outer space exploration? Machines made of metal are a lot more resistant to extreme temperatures, pressures and radiation than your stupid flesh and bones. Humanity are going to be replaced in every aspect. There is no beauty in AI's, because we're all gonna die.

If you try to talk or reason with them it's like spitting in the wind because they aren't people, they don't think, they're just GPT. Thus rendering a once forum of discourse useless. Hence dead internet. The internet is full of fake people with fake ideas.

    >This shit is gonna leave so many workers (both skilled and unskilled) unemployed that it's going to change our lives forever
    True. Just like industrial revolution.

    >it also gives governments access to dangerous tools such as facial recognition.
They already have that without the AI.

    >Also many people already use it to cheat on their school and college assignment academic integrity will becoming a thing of the past.
People already cheat, nothing will change.

    >WTF are we humans even going to do in a few decades?
Whatever they please. Just like after industrial revolution common people started to have free time and they started to come up with entertainment and service industry to have something to do with time that was saved by automatization.

    >why do the people developing these systems work so hard to destroy their own livelihoods?
Reducing production cost only improves general livehoods, not worsens it.

    >also do you guys expect universal income to fix this or something?
As long as there is work to be done that can't be covered by voluntary workers, UBI will not work. We need a system to reward people for doing work that no one wants to do for free. But as soon as we reach automatizations levels where work as a process of doing something you don't want to in exchange for work of other people(which is what money is right now) is not needed anymore, we can explore UBI. This is going to be far future though.

      Anonymous

      >what if this universal income is just enough for the bare minimum to live and that's it?
That's why UBI can't be implemented until we automate everything. Otherwise the only thing that UBI is going to do is increase inflation as you try to force it into economical system where people are supposed to be rewarded for working. The more you increase UBI to improve people's life's, the more money will still end up in hands of people who actually do work, and given that we don't have enough resources to cover for all these people who live of UBI, you will end up in hyperinflation. You can't have money backed up by work and expect it to stay like that when you keep printing money without people actually working more.

      >I think we humans need to stop our current "progress above everything" mentality because it surely is going to backfire eventually.
moron. You are afraid of progress because you are missing the bigger picture. Unironically like the other anon said, you assume the current economic system will be the same. Widespread automatization is going to change a lot, just like it happened during industrial revolution.

    Electricians
    Factory work

    Transport of people and goods
    Nurses

There won't really be much of anything else, but it's still something that you can work with. Alot of this stuff will still be a job because even if some of them can be partially automated they would require infrastructure that would take much longer than 10 years to develop.
