AI Music is now Mainstream

This is a milestone moment for AI and AI ethics and bot is surprisingly sleeping on it. BBL Drizzy is an Ai generated song that has gone on to be remixed and sampled by hundreds of artists. No one seems to care that its an AI song. The overton window on the AI art debate is shifting this year.

      Suno or Udio probably

I don't even like most music made by humans, let alone black "music." It's already just empty noises half the time. How is AI trained on that going to make anything but trash? And it'll be decades before AI can do vocals.

Have you been living under a rock or something? People have been posting AI music here and on BOT for close to 2 months.

i think this means 2 things:
      1. sync music composers are in trouble. people barely know they exist, and speaking as someone who occasionally supervises music for commercials and tv i could see myself swapping in some ai slop because it's muzak
      2. non-sync muzak isn't really going to be threatened by this. there's too much cultural capital in music, even at its most casual. ai music will be seen as a fun novelty, but no one will want to say that their favourite curator is an ai-Black person.

This stuff is a content creator's wet dream. More and more Youtubers will be using it.

      >BOT is surprisingly sleeping on it
Well, I never heard any sound or music here.

I'm putting together a Taliban concept album, mostly metal, but I'm having trouble to get to the prompt to integrate any kind of Islamic chanting or anything with an Oriental flair into the songs. For now it's just instrumentals. And quite honestly it takes hours to generate a satisfactory tune on Udio.

the reason it has no traction /here/ is because people can't easily make anime shit or slap anime art on your song. Suno gives you auto generated crap, and while you can manual input your gen on Udio, you needto use their own AI generate and it refuses to do anime but can make korean plastic women.

It is mega over for musicgays in general, music is even more mathematically defined and simple plus bullshit like Autotune has been in use for ages. If I walk through the grocery store and they're playing AIslop in the style of top 40 I won't even register that it isn't real top 40.

thats because most of the interest in popular music is b***hing about the artists themselves and not really talking about the music at length. Just go to BOT right now, most threads are about the artists saying something, doing something, being something, etc. Without an artist to obsess over no one gives a shit.

This is going to outright replace "hip hop", because all those performers with the fricking recess playground names perform music that is literally written by one of two men in the world. Train an AI using their body of work, and that's all there is to it.

You don’t even need AI to replace hup-diddly-do pavement ape music, a “lo-fi” algorithm can do it.
Something on the creative level of Neko Hacker would be more of a worthwhile AI challenge.

    >This is a milestone moment for AI and AI ethics
It turns out that the human ear is very shit at discerning AI generated content when it comes to musical audio content because it's not visual stuff. However, it's pretty subjective to normies because as long as it sounds good with some refinements then nobody gives a flying frick it's AI generated slop. The AI music you're speaking was not fully suno AI slop because the lyrics were provided by the comedian and definitely done some fine tuning to it so it sounded like that. People crave effort and genuinety. Normies don't gives a frick if it's authentic or not.

Sometimes on Pixiv when I see good art, I am astonished that it was AI generated because that probably had some good retouch and refinements made to it and it definitely wasn't something that came out of cheap prooompting.

I've noticed a lot of youtube shorts (my nephews watch them a lot when they're over) which feed the text from funny posts into udio/suno or whatever and no one seems to know its AI in the comments, its mind boggling how no one cares about AI music in the same way artists threw their toys out of the pram when AI started getting bigger.

That's because there is more artists than musicgays. Anyone can paint and draw but how many people can afford to study music? Also people still have respect for artists unlike musicians, they seem more like movies stars. Look at this gay for example:

    I suspect this is suno.

If you generate 1000 funk tunes, one will be a banger.

Keywords don't mean much. So if type "funk with cowbells and drums", you won't get a cowbell in the rhythm section most of the time.

I generated a bunch of instrumental hip-hop. I spent 3 hours deleting the outputs but it ended up with one that was very pleasant.

It's quite random because the algorithm cannot curate itself and doesn't have a musical ear and relies on source material and pitch shifting. It's pulling from real music, and altering it, not computing it from scratch.

  22. 1 month ago
    Anonymous

only people who are into pop will be interested in ai music, this is why it's not very popular. it can create one thing and it's just plagiarism. if you put the right keywords into suno you will just get shit it was trained on.

      Anonymous

It's not very good with keywords. People typing full descriptive sentences are wasting their time because the algo will hallucinate.

The key is just to generate 100s of attempts with 2 to 3 words, then prune 99.99% away.

It can generate good stuff, just few and far between.

The worst part is.. it's doesn't know how to fit words in rhythmically, and sentences can overlap into the next bar rather than triggering early to fit. It's struggles with the timing of vocals and they are every uncontrollable.

Often the timbre can be good but it doesn't know when to run a lyric sentence so can often sound like a stoned freestyle being ad-libed. ( Sloppy timing )

I wish we had an AI that could cope with, "marching band 4/4 beat with cowbells from take me to the Mardi gras by Bob James."

Being able to input with that detail would be amazing, but it's not reality, no CPU can cope with that level of detail.

Proof that AI has no intelligence.
