AI means everyone can now be a programmer, Nvidia chief says

It's over!
>"The programming barrier is incredibly low. We have closed the digital divide. Everyone is a programmer now - you just have to say something to the computer," [Huang] said.

Yes we don't need the corpo trannies anymore. We can generate the art assets and the code with AI. A new golden age of story telling is coming.

I can’t wait for Hollywood to be rendered useless. Any idea you might have for a story you can create without having to win over Coca Cola and Disney stockholders first. I hope I’m alive to see the day

Doesn't mean everyone will be a GOOD programmer.

I have a friend who has ZERO background in CS, doesn't have a clue how computers work and isn't really interested about computers. He recently started coding in Python - has no clue how anything works, doesn't even know basic stuff like loops etc... - he just glues code together (mostly directly off ChatGPT) in order to automate his work, and now he got a significant pay raise due to it.
Meanwhile I solved hundreds of LeetCode tasks and still can't get a job.
      It kinda pisses me off.

    mostly true

the only objections I've seen are cope about how the models can't handle extremely difficult mega-projects like operating systems or video games
which is of course true but doesn't matter that much, those are extreme outliers in terms of everyday coding tasks, the average programmer is not writing an operating system or a video game engine

jobs are given out for social skills. I am in the same boat as you but also dumb. It doesnt help even if you are a diversity hire if you cant HR speak your way through an interview.

        Anonymous

you do know you can just pretend to have social skills right?

copy and mimick people you like on TV, practice in front of a mirror, and try to not sound moronic and stuttering for 5 minutes,

lean some good old songs, historical ancedotes, make your anxiety and agoraphobia come off as aloof, taciturn, and mildly cultured, even if only in the pretentious middle class midwesterner way.

          >you can merely pretend
hasn't worked for me at all. I can come off as confident in an interview but it's skin deep and the hiring agent either knows it.

That is not possible, AI can't replace someone who is a content creator, everything what AI is doing is simple copy/paste of the code.

And only in the languages which had a huge volume of projects on github, so usually webshit stuff.
It can create flappy birds variants with ease because that's the most popular project on github to make, it cannot do any other game on its own, maybe with a lot of effort from your part it could pull out something, but not really.

Finally some anon who know what is AI. Peoples are irrationally scared of the AI, although if you look at the history the people were also scarred that they are going to lose their jobs as a mathematicians due to invention of the calculator. It is all so tiresome and a little bit laughable at this point.
