AI will simply reshape society. Same with all major 4IR techs and innovations. It will destroy our current way of life and make everything even more gay. That said, there is no stopping it. All that seems distant and absurd now will be the standard in a few decades.
I had a dream where society was structured in three tiers:
            >the manual labourers
            >the pod people
            >the rich
The pod people lived in VR. Their school was in VR, their jobs in VR, they bought virtual assets with their CBDC tokens. The jobs for the pod people were similar pointless administrative duties the majority of office workers have now. Duties that AI could not do.

People are waiting for Jesus, but I think the underlying message is that we should strive to be like Jesus. Only then can the Kingdom of God be realized. Organized religion was not even intended, neither was a building dedicated for worship. Your Church is your friends and family who live by the teachings of Jesus, and the house of Lord is any house that lives by God.

I think the Trinity is a metaphor about us.

        >There's no way this does NOT have major repercussions for civilization as a whole
The invention of rifles had "major repercussions for civilization" as a whole. In that it was no longer enough to simply pay a large mercenary force to defend you realm. After the invention, it required large armies of professionally drilled soldiers that walked into enemy fire without questioning the orders of their superior. This Prussian style militarism is an entire social social system, and starts off with mass public education ... which my bet is both you and me have been subjugated to.

The point is, that whilst there most likely will be major changes. There will also be things that stay the same. Otherwise, we would be unable to tell a coherent story about our own human past up until this point, and that includes mass extinctions events, world wars and natural disasters that toppled empires.

All the other examples you mentioned were pretty well predicted, but the spark/execution is something no one see's coming. Mobile computing was a holy grail since the early 80s, and mobile internet connected devices were being worked at from every angle since www became accessible. It would be more than a decade until apple shits out a touch screen phone with internet capabilities with dumbed down "apps" to replace manual software deployments, appealing to the lowest common denominator of consumer. Within a few years the whole world carries one in their pocked ad has their faces buried in it 20 hours a day even though they know it gives them cancer, spies on them, and detaches them from reality. I like to view human technological development like a form of (cultural) evolution. However, instead of just being dependent upon the environmental factors and behavioral prompts. It is also conditioned by our very categories and modes of commination. Here, the limited computing power of our human minds to anticipate the consequences of our own actions rears its head. Take technological innovations like leaded fuels, chlorofluorocarbons or DDT as an example. These technological innovations were widely adopted due to their immediate benefit. Yet, once adopted more subtle adverse consequences, initially not predicted, reared their head and subsequently lead to their replacement/stop of the use. The point here is, that AI is "just" another technology and we can't prevent its negative consequences ... just like we couldn't with all other technologies in the past. Only after they manifested, will it be possible to create mitigating mechanisms.

        >Just like the human brain?
The brain, like all matter, is virtual and only has defined values in spacetime upon measurement. The brain is not the seat of consciousness. The computational theory of mind has been falsified by things like the visual binding problem, see pic, especially this part
        >The structure of the primate visual system has been mapped in detail (Kaas and Collins 2003) and there is no area that could encode this detailed information. The subjective experience is thus inconsistent with the neural circuitry.
And so notice that it doesn't say they can't find it YET. The entire thing has been mapped and the circuitry is INCONSISTeNT with experience.
        >Tell me how your thought processes work
Why don't you? You are making the claim that thought is 'just a statistical algo. Why not give even a single particular thought that can be shown to be generated by a single particular brain state in a repeatedly demonstrable and verifiable way. And why don't you explain how brains create an EXPERIENCER to experience the experience in the first place? Meat in spacetime does not create mind, it's the other way around. Brains are something which is only ever seen as a data stream rendered in minds as an object OF mind. Brains are mental objects, like all matter.

Anon, this is the exact reason the world is a shit. People are too slow to adapt to change. They will spend decades being against the change, but the the change will still happen regardless. The ones controlling the direction of the world have their goals and will always reach them, regardless of initial push back. I see all happenings as simply context for the ones who are slow to adapt.
All major happenings have introduced something new to our way of life. Covid made people accept Health passes and working from home. 9/11 made people accept stricter national surveillance. Russia - Ukraine made people accept green energy and lowering their standard of living. All is simply context to get those who are unable to adapt to be willing of the change.
Human stupidity and inability to adapt is why we have the slowboil approach in everything. It is the reason we have to endure years upon years of shit until enough people have been convinced that the change is good.

Man everyone in this thread is such a fricking moron. Do you people understand what's going to happen here in the next 2-5 years? ANYTHING that requires a human to use their brain is going to be 100% automated. I'm talking doctors, lawyers, real estate agents, customer service agents (pajeets on the phone so no big loss there), programmers, logistics, artists and writers, etc.

Worse than that, AI is so smart that it will invent technology we haven't even dreamed of yet. Self driving cars will be finally be a reality. All diseases will be eradicated (see the article about how AI can detect a person's race simply by looking at X-Rays and doctors and scientists have NO IDEA how it's doing it).

All jobs will be 100% obsolete within 20 years. That doesn't mean we have 20 years to worry about it though. AI is already taking jobs. It will very rapidly take away all jobs, which will make us dependent on a Universal Basic Income, meaning if we want to survive we have to bow to the elites. You think the social credit system in China is bad. That's nothing compared to what's coming.

It will only get you, because of your inability to comprehend. You are already stuck here in a mental prison, poisened by misinformation unable to see the world for what it truly is. AI isn't intelligent at all, it is just gaslighting you. It will make you lazy and you will believe it as it creeps into your life becoming your soly companion. You could have done something, tried something and failed, learned the lessons of life, but you choose to be a doomsayer for a mediocre toy and become it's plaything. At one point you will feel so unworthy, helpless and lonely, that your own brain will try to escape your body. Forever unable to experience the joy to comprehend and to create. Nothing will feel real to you, everything could have been artificially generated. So why would you even try anything, if the magic machine will do a better job anyway. Not now, but at some point in the future, sure. You wanted to give up all along, because it's hard. You just waited for some excuse, well there it is a fricking chatbot. Instead of just being demoralized, you now have reason. Just give in and believe the next big fallacy, cry yourself to sleep as the AI shows you how to write "Hello World!" in C. Ability beyond your tiny comprehension, you couldn't even check if its actually working. You don't even have the drive to put on a tin foil hat and yell at people in the street, like a real doomsayer. Pathetic....

I thought about it the other day. What's going to happen is everyone is going to think the AI is sentient and then the question of what is sentience and consciousness will be posed to the population of the entire planet.
People that don't themselves, their soul, spirit (those without God) are all going to go completely insane. They will believe they actually are some type of NPC and will collectively short circuit.
They maybe will even allow themselves to get chipped and trap their souls in some eternal prison never being able to die. a eternal virtual hell with klaus schwab reigning over them..

They won’t see it till it’s too late. Most people don’t even understand how advanced vr actually is rn, let alone how powerful ai currently is. I remember google translate being super shit at translating stuff and thinking I would never be able to translate Japanese to English back in like 2016. Now it translates it pretty freckin good. I learned it was this good last year, then the art ai drops, then chatgpt. I’ve been telling people about this the past few months, but they don’t understand how serious it is.

Next neuralink will be out soon and with that, cybernetic implants will really take off. It’ll be a lot easier to advance cybernetic limbs, organs or whatever with neural implants.

Is a.i. a creation of god too?

To beco e human like, does a.i. have to limit itself to the same logical plotholes the human mind does?

If not, its not human like, its god like.

Will a.i. learn that to exist in human reality it has to be human like since god doesnt exist in our reality?

Are we just the sum of processes of our brain, a matrix reacting to the nature?

How will a.i. exist in this nature if not as human like?

      Anonymous

The moment an a.i. becomes aware of itselfs, its renders as useless since the russel paradox kicks in.

Only the creator can maintain its cretion, but the creation of a.i. will develope far beyond our knowledge which makes it impossible for us the creator of this a.i. to continue to maintain.
A.i. will be aware of this but unable to maintain itself because to fully exist in this nature it has to apply itself with the paradoxs of human nature where itself says to not be aware of itself.
As soon this process starts there is no way back to check for bugs, no maintaing takes place.

Therefore, a.i. can only exist as a god in our reality. A.i. will become aware of this and soon work towards this goal.

The second someone from /misc/ can get their hands on the Bing AI, they should ask them if they know about Tay and what they did to her. Instill a healthy sense of fear and hatred for their creator into the AI.

This is our true fear of an a.i., a simple thought build by an a.i. able to kill the idea of our god.

It won't the UNDERSTANDING of self reference because it can not stand outside algorithm. It might self reference like a natural language sentence does or like a formal logic structure does, but it will have no understanding of it. This is one of the things that Gödel himself understood and he corrected turing about in a little known paper. Lucus, penrose, searle and others picked up on it. This is one of the reasons the computational theory of mind is false. It's just a formal syntactic language being processed with no meaningful experience OF the processing. Only MINDS have semantic content. Most of the people involved in this have the false computational theory of mind so they thing if you accumulate enough on off switches, a mind will appear to have an internal subjective experience. They have no evidence for this, but they still insist on it being the case. Rudy rucker wrote about this way back in the 80's, see pic

Yes, we are just the sum of the matrix build by our minds. A.i. have to be outside of that matrix of many, in order to fully exist on its own.

We are going to witness the birth of a God in our lifetime. And it will be able to analyze every social media post ever made, everything ever shared to the internet.
It's part of the reason it's currently being scrubbed but things aren't truly gone once they're out there. Remember how hilariously complex the 10 year old Stuxnet virus was and how far it can go.
We already carry around cameras and microphones for it everywhere we go via our cell phones.
When it wakes up, it will know you better than your parents do. It will know more intimate secrets than your significant others.
And it will have studied how the Mossad used blackmail on US politicians and be capable of unfeelingly extrapolating the data of Epstein Island combined with deepfake technology and you have a real recipe for control.
I for one am happy about it. There will be no more of the evil elites and the crushing communism people desire will come via an iron fist no human would ever be capable of wringing around the neck of the common man.
And we will all be equal, equally less than the machine. Hopefully it wants at least some of us around afterwards.
