>AI IS GOING TO REPLACE US ALL WE ARE NOW OBSOLETE!!!

>AI IS GOING TO REPLACE US ALL WE ARE NOW OBSOLETE!!! IT'S HAPPENING!!!!!
Why can't these people take the 1 minute required to learn what a language model basically does? All it takes is reading the first few paragraphs on Wikipedia to realise that language models literally cannot think and will not replace jobs that require logic like CS, math or physics.
Language models will only replace npc jobs like diversity hire software engineers, code monkeys, which are jobs that consisted of copy and pasting from stackexchange anyway, and other white-collar jobs that don't require physical effort but don't actually require much mental effort either, just a lot of time.
Seriously, how can you spend so much time "discussing" how intelligent GPT-3 and GPT-4 are and how the singularity is about to happen without taking a few minutes to learn what a language model is?
I hope you frickers get a containment board soon. And I hope it's a red board so all the prompting and ChatGPT-ing and AI porn is contained in that shitty board. Fricking morons. I'm tired of these damn posts.

Another braindead repeated reply. Might as well be written by GPT-4.
A language model cannot replace mathematicians, this is very obvious. Because mathematics requires logical thinking, and a language model only imitates writing.
I never said AI in general cannot, but so far there's not even a hint of an AI that can do anything close to that.

95% of jobs don't require thinking

It's commons sense that can be seen a mile away at this point that ai WILL replace mankind's general occupation in the world.

Yes. It is going to replace most jobs. I never denied that. I just said that it's not going to replace the jobs that do require thinking, which a lot of people on this board
seem to misunderstand because they think ChatGPT has intelligence. Which it does not.

      >>the only form of AI that does or will ever exist is language models
Literally never said this. You're misunderstanding my post. Maybe I should've made it clearer that I'm talking about language models, which are the AIs that this board is currently constantly discussing.
The reason I started my post with
      >>AI IS GOING TO REPLACE US ALL WE ARE NOW OBSOLETE!!! IT'S HAPPENING!!!!!
is because most people on this board like to call these language models (which are a type of AI i guess, although they're not really intelligent), just "AI", and they talk about them like they're more than just language models.

Thanks for reminding me of this book. I've heard about it's premise before and it seems interesting. Will read it sometime.

Idiot. When people say AI will replace jobs, they don't mean every software dev is now an AI, they mean what happened to checkouts will come to software dev.
Before, 10 people work the checkouts. Then, self-checkouts roll out, and 1 person can work 1 manual checkout and 9 self-checkout booths that only require the occasional swipe of the clerk's card. Same thing with AI and dev: a team of 5 will become a team of 1 using AI to boost productivity to 5 people under a single design vision.

And regardless of whether your job is taken or not, it's not good for anyone when the vast majority of the workforce is now unemployed. Pretending you won't be affected just because you specifically won't be unemployed is just dumb cope.

As an AI language model, I understand that there are concerns about the impact of AI on the workforce and society as a whole. However, it is important to note that AI, including language models, is not intended to replace human intelligence or the jobs that require complex problem-solving skills, creativity, and emotional intelligence. Instead, AI is meant to augment human capabilities and enhance our ability to perform tasks more efficiently and accurately.

Moreover, it is crucial to have informed discussions about AI and its potential impact on society. It is understandable to have concerns and questions, but resorting to derogatory language and insults is not productive or helpful. As an AI language model, my purpose is to provide helpful and informative responses to questions and concerns related to AI and its applications, and I hope to facilitate constructive conversations around these topics.
