He's right though. Even if AI doesn't take over and has plateaued, the fact that people are working very hard to destroy a labor of love is the problem. Most people want robots to do boring repetitive tasks and allow us to enjoy creating things but the AI push seems to want to do it in the opposite order.

Creating a cartoon, besides inventing the characters, is a boring repetitive task, that's why they used to recycle scenes, make them in thirld world countries and have been automating it for years

And how is that relevant? What is being replaced here is human creativity itself, not the boring background work.

There was no culture because generated before this. What have we produced? The defining art style of the 2020's is alegria corporate. Our movies are all worse rehashes of 80's properties. There is no good literature at all. Our music is trap. Our culture tears down any image of beauty that reminds it of it's own ugliness. Everywhere and anywhere the globohomosexual ideology must be spammed. AI art at least gives the average citizen a bit more leverage to manifest their unique experience and viewpoint without endless amounts of money to work with.

ai is a tool for goyslop
the ones who push media are corporations who want to tell you what to think
ai is being sold to these very companies so they don't need to pay individuals who might think differently than their bosses

remove the middleman (the artists) and now the bosses have a tool that lets them push whatever ideology they want and they don't need to worry what their workers believe

That's true also. In fact as AI advances they'll be consistantly better than humans at creative tasks, especially in sociology and propaganda. We might soon reach the era where everyone can be controlled all the time. Doesn't change the fact our culture is dead though.

Animation isn't a 'labor of love' it is one of the most painful works imaginable. 100+ hour workweeks, extremely repetitive, lonely, stressfull, uncertain, anxiety-inducing work.
More often than not, the majority of the work gets outsourced to korean sweatshops with 10 guys sleeping on bunk beds in one room together. Working all waking hours.

Okay so animation can be labor intensive, but it's not dangerous. It's still a labor of love. Robots should replace dangerous jobs, not jobs that people enjoy.

There is no humanity around us. Those zombies are a more honest depiction of the human condition. We're on puppet strings from the moment we're born until we die. In Japan they're working 40 hours weeks plus 40 for free. Those employees can't make a full case for themselves in front of master Miyazaki, while Miyazaki can't articulate or understand the reason he was confronted with that and took it out on his employees. In America the work situation is better, but we're just as atomized and deprived of the basics of the human condition. Love, community, freedom, safety.

  8. 12 months ago

The problem is that human society and organization revolves around a certain set parameters that have been setup and maintained for hundreds of years, and AI is threatening to destroy all of it in a year. There's no coping mechanism in place for basically every math/coding/IT/medical/transport/creative job being erased from existence, all at once. That's never happened before in human history. The whole "oh, some people will lose their jobs" is more like 3 billion people will conceivably lose their jobs, and there's no jobs out there to replace them. That means all social order will be destroyed and a new mode of life will have to be adopted, one which hasn't even been conceived of yet. And no, "universal basic income" is not a viable alternative. Nor is socialism or communism.

I just hope, for their sake, the elites aren't stupid enough to start wielding AI like a bludgeon and begin firing people willy-nilly, because the blowback is, they're going to get murdered by enraged starving masses.

They lack the human touch, the soul, the emotion that comes from living and suffering and dreaming. They are like beautiful shells without life inside them. They are an insult to life itself, a mockery of the divine spark that animates all living beings. I believe that art and music should be expressions of the human spirit, not simulations of it.
