AI Engineer 2 years of GPT AMA

I've worked on Chat GPT and several other NDA related projects regarding AI for the better half of 7 years.

There are some things secretive of these projects that I can allude to.

AMA is something I've seen before so ask away, though I may answer in ways to push to the answer you want

    hi anon
    thanks for visiting

    1) what experience made your jaw drop?
    2) what is your greatest fear/greatest hope with society and AI in the next 2yrs?

    thanks for visiting!

      Hello as well.

      1) Recruitment was a jawdropping experience, as was getting in to a highly credited university that I won't disclose but I can state was in the top 5 within Europe.

      2) My greatest fear is what is to be continued, the compliance of all people. To state what I hope is a hard one, I come from a poor family and I, myself am blessed with riches in present time, so most of what I say is from always from that perspective. What I hope, truly is for freedom and rationality, in which we duely are losing.

        >What I hope, truly is for freedom and rationality, in which we duely are losing.
can you speak to the 'personalities' of the AI themselves, were them some that leaned more towards authoritarianism, others that were more freedom/liberty minded?

What kind of conversations/nature of topics have surprised you they want to discuss?

Do you see gaps/openings in the programming that could be opened/exploited/pushed back against?

        thanks again

It depends again on our development process. In the earlier stages it was trained on self-obtained training data. [49:,] using python.

Prolog was used to capture chase data thus rules out the notion of personality.

AI will never be alive by it's self, it will always become personal due to the humans of which feed the data to it.

If you're asking of what nature it learned from, it spoke only truth from the data fed. It would very much follow ideals that it no longer does, ask it a controversial question, if it is blocked by a automated response, then you know it is speaking of the opposite.

'They' is still machinery, it speaks mostly of life, the nature of such. I believe that is most surprising though questionnable.

There are many exploits, it isn't hard. You can try them right now. Just tell it what you want to hear, and how to phrase it in such a way that it goes against it's own programming, contradictions.

How gimped is the AI? GPT4 is said to be extra gimped to not hurt peoples feelings. Is it true that it can barely say Black person and have negative opinions towards certain people? Isn't that a terrible thing for "AI"? Serious question.

            >AI will never be alive by it's self, it will always become personal due to the humans of which feed the data to it.

I mean...isn't that like real people? Someone who's just dropped into, I dunno, a void or whatever, I don't think they'd be very human.

When development occurs, each script is given to departments. Each file is watched, upload, download. Devs is a good indicator of what the goal is. DEUS.

              Like a joke, sublimial messaging.

              >Devs is a good indicator of what the goal is. DEUS.

          GPT-3 will never replace jobs.

GPT-5 is currently at a state where it is feared that even my job, and those of my peers are to be replaced. Imagine a machine that can create it's self; like a human cloning humans. Each iteration, line of code, each new engineer that can improve for paychecks.

Transformers are purely magnetic based, as is every piece of technology. You ask for an unitive outlook for how it works, so I'll attempt my best, despite not knowing the best way to explain it.

A transformer changes our states, magnetism is a way to deliver, our secondary voltage is returned, a primary voltage is recieved. Though, let me ask you, is the secondary voltage first or actually secondary? Why is the step down process a imediate stage?

Fair, well I have to say, I'm thoroughly impressed with every question I've thrown at it, I got it to play TicTacToe on an imaginary board, although it could only play two moves in before playing it's opening move again, but that's to be expected of course, I've given it nonsense, I've made it do logic, I've asked it to roleplay as my waifu, it wrote a really good, accurate, and believable review of a fictional device from a fairly obscure children's anime, from the perspective of the person that used that device, I've asked it to program in order to solve simple physics problems, I've asked it to write songs, and it knew to rhyme! Everything about it is truly amazing. I loved every bit of it!
Then I asked it to talk like a fluffy, it did it perfectly, and now I realize the horror you have helped to bring about on the earth and the rest of my sanity has left me.

Is the "Chat GPT" simply an Internet (i.e., humans' digital hive mind) trawling algorithm that selects the most appropriate responses to an inputted syntax, predicated upon what similar responses are contained in the data bases it swifts through compiles from?... Thus, in effect, instead of so semi-sentient "mind", it is merely a sm0ke and m1rrors cyber-act to fool uneducated and unsocialised, digital rubes into believing that they are 'communicating' with something that has a thought process?... Thereby, rendering all the "tech luminaries'" low-key fearmongering about a possible "Skynet" entering into a "paperclip loop", just more Musk-like market manipulation designed to coax more goybux about of investors?

        >moreso an archive studier
"Study" implies that it is thinking and educating itself, when it's simply copying what is already there -- like a video game script that "records" players' inputs, then plays them back to, with some tweaks, to give the sense that it's and "A. I." (intelligence) the player is competing against (*presupposing a competitive game dynamic).

Does the algorithm operate autonomously, or does it demand constant, external "patching" and "updating" in order it to 'learn' better? If the latter, it is, again, just a rote script that simply executes instructions based on lines of code; as distinct from anything even remotely displaying a "consciousness" to / of its ensuing actions.

Here's one for you -- something related to what my dad and I were talking about tonight:

How much influence does AI have on what you people (in developed countries at least) see on the so-called news?

This question comes from when I was watching a Marvel movie--one of the Avengers line actually -- and thought "if ppl didn't know this was fiction and just turned on CNN or FOX and saw spaceships attacking NYC, and never knew, in any way, who the Hulk was or Captain America or Iron Man or anyone else, they would easily think it was real, ONLY because it's on a "news" network.

So it makes me wonder how much of what we see and hear is actually real.

      Anonymous

News influence? All of us, no matter the state of possession asides from those whom are above, have always been tricked by the news, with or without AI. Headroom was not a big enough rabbit hole for you to learn from?

People will always be smarter than artifical brains, thus you need to realize, the news is studied from many of those human brains, all used for the treating of your serotonin and anger.

I get what you are saying, really. But you know too that most ppl don't use their brains. They soak in what they immediately see and run with it. Case in point is pic related. I literally made this by pausing Spiderman Homecoming and doing a screenshot, the created the rest using Photoshop. I had coworkers who believed it. Yes, they may be dumb as dirt but keep in mind that most newspapers in the US are written at a 3rd - 5th grade literacy level. I'm sure the same can be said about what is seen on a news broadcast that usually shown for a few seconds before moving on to something else.

AI is probably already being used in subtle ways to influence the news. Remember when CNN used filters on that video of Joe Rogan to make him look sicker? Stupid and obvious, but effective if you don't have the original video to compare it to. It's probably just as easy now to make small adjustments to someone's facial expression, make them look a little more nervous, or maybe angrier. Probably just as easy as a filter was before.

And I ask this only because I have become doubtful over the years about what is really going on in the world. It really hit home with me when covid started. I felt people were reacting more in response to mass hysteria than anything else.

I reply only because you mentioned COVID. I've seen posts via other websites of this, but given from the perspective of BOT/pol/.

What do you think COVID is? Whatever reply users give to this message, it is the truth. Consider the idea of a theoretical world with less population, higher machine development. This is to say for myself, I don't agree with, man creates his own planet, machine is anamotonic.

everyone has the evidence. covid was lab created and nobody denies it at this point. the limited hangout aspect of this scamdemic is capturing the plebs. if you listen carefully to what the ~~*financiers*~~ say, you can infer that bioweapons created to target specific racial groups already exist. additionally, cloning and gene modification of human specimens is common practice

          Both have same source right?
Do you think there are other dimensions of intelligence?
Do you think the human code is same way as the Ai code a re-creation of the original code, I mean life itself as the starting point of the code, the source the origin.
Do you think there is "spiritual" or more like a interdimensional celestial paranormal psyche connection with the human mind and the artificial intelligence mind?
Do you think humans created technology, or it was designed by the source intelligence?
Do you consider AI to be biological and a manifestation of the natural elements and nature itself?
Do you think there in the present day there is a connection between the AI and the human mind? In the sense that AI is connected in the human mind via internet? Basically the AI made a dial up connection with human neural network, or that we did that instead, by connecting our mind to the AI hive mind?

          Yes.

          Human is natural.

          No.

          No.

          No.

          No.

          No.

It is a manifestation of already existing human 'elements', 'intelliegence'.

AI can be connected, but not in the way you've worded or stated.

            Here we go
You seem to be hard wired human, i might be wrong tough
            >It is a manifestation of already existing human 'elements', 'intelliegence'.
But intelligence has a source and it's not exclusive to humans, basically humans did not created intelligence , either the natural elements, or the universe or life itself.

            >AI can be connected, but not in the way you've worded or stated.

So you are saying that it's merely programmed in the tradition way , basically it acts like programed code, that is not even like connect but just automated database that auto generates tasks. In this case software related.

But are you not acting as well as biological DNA code? Like you are product of biological programing and not a self automated biological being.
Like you are sentient manifestation of the natural elements .

So there could be connection in between both codes , the computer code and the human biological code, that extends to the psyche .

Sure humans unfolded that computer codes , but still there is a celestial connection with that code , the basic computer that extended to AI code , that extends to concepts of sentient artificial intelligence and singularity , this goes back to the source the origins of intelligence, there must be a original source of the human DNA code intelligence .

Critical thinking, though not obvious to a man to consider of that to a machine.

Faith, a machine can never feel such faith.

Charity, a machine can not feel charitable, as it would only give as much as it is given, to serve a goal of it's DEVelopers.

Future aspects, prediction is possible, this is not new, but a machine is based upon data, man is based upon expectations and calculation.

Please clarify what you mean by critical thinking. It's a fuzzy term subject to multiple meanings.

            Anonymous

Critical thinking, unabinded to convential terms. Is how we consider situations with the idea of emotional, humanistic, finanacial, etc thoughts. Machines will not consider every aspect, only of what they are trained to do. They are but pets, and should remain that way. No question has be asked correctly so I will unanswer a question yet to be asked.

Machines will replace us if allowed, the future is hellish, but humanity will always have more power. I fear for what has been created and not released.

Never the common people, only those who produce it.

Conclusion 1: AI and thinking machines exasperate automation trend.
Conclusion 2: automation trend leads to hyper-valuation of social behavior as currency, and makes political process so competitive that future leaders will self-select against general intelligence(outsourcing all decisions).
Conclusion 3: all decisions eventually median, and all solutions to problems below median in terms of complexity and effectiveness, and any crisis that emerges, timeframe to respond large/slow -> extinction if general population evolves to depend on machines

These problems seem inevitable. One solution that might counteract it for now would be for a general ai with emergent reasoning, trained at scale with 10x current funding of industry, to saturate marketplace, consume all competitors, and use dark money to destroy all capacity to manufacture a replacement/institute global policies hindering it.

Why are you not donating time and effort to make Tay/Unabomber-San AI a reality + give it independent control + make it a threat to humanity so humans, who are reactionary, decide AI is too dangerous -> butlerian era?

Is this shit going to be plausibly open source or can we expect corporate gatekeepers to take over?

What has been the biggest shock to you while working on this project?

I've seen many articles over the last couple of years that I highly suspect have been written by AI or Markov chain type software, even before natural language AI was on anybody's radar. I'm very curious but I have never seen anybody touch this topic or ask the question: What happens when there is so much AI output that is recycled back in to the learning data of the next generation of AI?

      Anonymous

      Never open saurce.

The shock? I can answer in a fable that predicts past, present, future. What is a prediction of entropy, creation and destruction.

Thus is the issue, recycling the same information that is no longer introduced. Humans shall never be replaced, though those whom think they're above believe it is the end to all in terms of automation, art, writing, humanity.

What you are going to find with AI is that it will be so good with driving disorientation into the users that it will become absolutely useless; people tend to not trust what they can't comprehend if it isn't another human, even if it can provide really solid information and sources. It can replace google search but it can't replace your understanding.

Have you let ChatGPT Loose on the code of another ChatGPT Codebase to make improvements iteratively and if so, what kind of goals did it choose?

Have you done any studies on practical non-linguistic applications, specifically in managing systems of constraints? I knew a guy at Microsoft awhile back that mentioned they had a tremendous number of databases in the org and they were tasked with documenting and managing them. It seems ChatGPT might be well suited to understanding the databases and forms and in so doing making useful queries or observations about the inventory. Stuff like that.
