I do not understand this post. AI art will 99% be used by big corporations to make more corpo art (but prettier) to controll art itself.
They will probably add Black personquotas etc. into the algorythms, and can easily drown out any "opposition" human or human with some shittier version then the corpos have, withouth needing to rely on the himw of any artist.
Thinking this technology will not be used for the same shit technology has been used the last 20 years is moronic. Only because you piss off some furry gays is like thinking social media has been a win for "based" or whatever means because of Battletoad prank calls and that one time tumblr got angry at us here.

There is a theorethical issue where human artists just stop uploading/creating art or get drowned out by AI and the AI(s) start copying each other exergating each others mistakes ad nauseum until it becomes worse again.

              Anonymous

The AI isn't sentient. Like all programs, it requires prompts and fine tuning. An engineer would fix any issues that arose. That aside, there's thousands of years worth of art to take prompts from. If they stopped, it would change nothing. The source material is already made. If all they did was copy each other, it would refine and improve the art at every step. Learning from mistakes. Because bad art wouldn't be re-sourced. It'd be tossed in the recycle bin. Only good art would saturate the public domain to be sourced.

I like this one better though.
It's less disturbing and more anti-social at the same time.
technically "worse" art, because it no longer inflicts the discomfort of the original, that makes you reflect.
But, holistically, there is some new "art" in that picture, that it depicts art without the humanity.
the future is dark, humans, robots, we won't be able to tell the difference.

well thats not true, humans are superior inasmuch as they created an entity that can excel itself, ai is lightyears from that achievement and just makes derivative 'art', which presently is little more than a moderately competent mashup of our creations. its impressive so far though, but its still (white) mans achievement.

This is AI art. I made it myself. The AI art stuff is both extremely powerful, and painfully limited. It can't do fingers or feet, for example. They look like it mess. And anything that involves interaction, like kiss, gets really weird with arm placement/missing limbs/people melting into each other, etc. It takes hours to get a good render. It's an on/off switch and nowhere near ready for normie consumption. Independent artists won't be out of work anytime soon.

Now ask it to draw an anime girl leaping over a park bench while running from a big cat and see how long that takes you. I guarantee any competent artist can do it faster and better looking.

there is no problem with the ability of human artists to supply the needed quantity or quality of art. so, the benefit of AI is not to artists, but also not consumers either. just untalented people in the big industries who want to cut corners.
it'll be that way until the technology is advanced enough to also cut them out of the equation somehow, so you're going to have to get used to shit like this

and even after the nonsensical layers and filigree fractaling off into infinity are ironed out, you aren't going to be able to tell your personal computer to just make an RPG to put it in or whatever.

if theres any part of the process we need to make progress towards fixing it's on the consumer side. so much good music etc. produced these days gets consumed only by tiny audiences. there are not enough engaged consumers. so, i propose that a better use for ai would be to use it to aim cruise missiles at major record company and spotify server buildings to encourage people to branch out more.

These Black folk actually think that having a hooman waste time on an image makes the words inside change.

It has value because a human had to discipline themselves and learn the practice/theory of art to make the product. Of course /misc/tards are dumb chuds and will never understand this, they jeer at the artists but they themselves will be replaced too.

It is exactly like those things. Art is just more prone to being romanticized by suckers. Humans interface with art just as the interface with every other thing they value. Art is not valued due to some intangible and unexplained x-factor of "soul." Michelangelo's work is not considered great due to "soul" because no one can describe where the soul is or what it is. It just looks nice, and work of its kind is highly valued because work that beautiful is difficult to make and therefore rare. Nothing would actually change if those masterpieces were made by a machine after being designed. People eat because it tastes good and supplies them with energy. If there are methods of making food production more efficient without detracting from the nutrition and taste, then those methods will be implemented. The same principle applies to art. What an absolute moron take. Michelangelo’s David is great because it has soul. It is actually not a correctly proportioned human sculpture, there are subtle changes in the sizes of various pieces of anatomy that he used for great impact based on perspective.

These are things that a computer can’t replicate because a) AI art only exists in the digital sphere so it won’t impact a real artists work and b) how can a computer understand what a human defines as beautiful? It can’t, AI art still only works on input. The computer is not creating something it thinks of as beautiful, it is creating something that you think is beautiful because you discard all the abortions and refine the algorithm.

            That is what soul is.

AI "Art" will only replace people who shouldn't be pretending to be artists. Discerning art appreciators see AI "Art" for what it is. You can ape a thousand styles, and use the old artist's trick of combination to create something seemingly new, but you can't ape the spiritual, and you can't achieve anything transcendent. You can only ape whatever flashy move impresses the modern slopeheaded goycattle, and you don't need much to do that, as the sheer number of unironically employed vectorkids and filtershit "artists" out there proves.

Its also very much demoralization. Coomers will just make their own coomshit, and some homosexual furry artists will loose their jobs, sure.
But it also takes out any struggle of making art for those who pursue it as a hobby or otherwise. It also takes away the awe at witnessing any good art, just like how industrualised food has made us fat. Its just another step towards a population of people with no motivation, no goals, no nothing but consooming.

Its the same with computer programming and any other computer technology. If I went to design a house and the computer already said "here's your bathroom template and here's your bedroom, kitchen, living room, etc. templates as well, you don't have to start from scratch" So I use the software, build the house, feel pretty smart. Should I really be surprised when I come back 5 years later, that no one will pay me to design a house despite my skill of using the software and putting it together because now there is just plain the "whole house template" and no one has any reason to pay anyone else to put it together?

I'll give you the fishnet pattern under the side laces, where the fishnets are absent. The rest is fine. There's no reason anything, like a drawer handle, should be perfectly level in a sketch. Imperfections (as has been pointed out) are an indicator of hand-made art.

AI strikes at the soul of our degenerate culture because it is the culmination of everything fed in to it, which typically includes works of historical greatness, if not simply visuals from an era with more time skill and energy than the modern artist will likely ever dedicate to their craft.

It's the past present and future staring them in the face and they can't handle it.

We already have AI art, AI voice, AI music, and even AI short-clips (think GIFs) are creeping up. While they are in their infancy, they're moving FAST. All the components are there to make movies and TV shows. That will be the future, and it's not that far off.

And the only limit to people making their own movies will be processing power. The Graphic Card market is stagnating because no games are being made that need THAT much processing power. It's just dick waving to have a top of the line card right. But, right now, my 3080ti sounds like a lawnmower when rendering AI art. That's gonna be the future of GPUs. Invest in GPU companies now imo.

Pretty much. The productivity of the average worker has increased manyfold the last 70 years but the compensation never grew acordingly (after inflation).
Its like going "haha, frick you Bookstorelets" in the early 2000s and expecting Amazon to usher in a new golden age of livingstandards.

That's a bullshit metric. People didn't get better, their tools did. People don't work with anywhere near as much pride, care, or dedication as they used. Zero loyalty to the company or product. There have always been slackers, but now 95% of workers are slackers.

          >That's a bullshit metric. People didn't get better, their tools did. People don't work with anywhere near as much pride, care, or dedication as they used. Zero loyalty to the company or product. There have always been slackers, but now 95% of workers are slackers.
I dont even disagree with you, thats all correct.
But shouldnt that mean we all should work less now? If the few work thats necesarry was spread amongst all 100% instead of having people waste time at work the work could be done in a few hours a day, maybe even a few hours a week. The "Surplus" workers resulting could then also be "spread" amongst jobs that need someone to be there physically, cutting such jobs workhours short aswell.
But that would only work if everyone still got paid for those few hours a livable wage. And that would cut into profits for the few on top.
          >But small buisneses
Would be viable if small buisneses werent dragged down with more tax and bullshit then large cooperations.

But instead of that we force people to sit at jobs they know are bullshit all day too. And then invent shit to force those that found a somewhat passionate self employment into a office cubicle or Amazaon warehouse aswell.

          >>The productivity of the average worker has increased manyfold the last 70 years
          >That's a bullshit metric.

so are the fables you hear about certain ethnicities working their arse off in factory jobs. the Vietnamese were lauded as hard workers but that was a lie, I saw them with my own eyes hiding away from work whenever they could because I nearly squashed them a few times with my forktruck. They were always on site to take as much overtime as they could but they never did any more work than they were meant to be doing and were more likely working slower to get that overtime.

There is a theorethical issue where human artists just stop uploading/creating art or get drowned out by AI and the AI(s) start copying each other exergating each others mistakes ad nauseum until it becomes worse again.

          >There is a theorethical issue where human artists just stop uploading/creating art

I'd love to have had the talent to draw and the ability to sing but got neither, not bothered though I know good art when I see it and good music when I hear it. forgetting that we are heading for Hell in a handbasket woven by /misc/ anons, and pretending there is anything worth working toward while a single israelites lives to draw breath, I think many people in numerous different fields will be initially frightened by the talents of certain humans they see raising the bar.

take Messi, essentially untouchable throughout his career, other players have been rightfully in awe of his skills but they didn't quit just because someone was much better than them, I'm seeing other players start to incorporate some of his playing style, the game will be better off for the example he set.

take Tatiana Shmulyk, watching women react to her singing, especially the deep growls, you can see some of them get inspired by what they hadn't considered possible for a woman, I reckon I can also sense when some of them realise they are looking at a superior class of woman too and they don't particularly like it but I might be wrong.

          take five, you've earned it.

    how "ai art" works:

    - feed it images
    - ai reduces images to vectors and tokens
    - images it gets fed are weighted as "good" states
    - each vector is a location in 3d space and intensity that is associated with its corresponding token
    - train on massive amt of images
    - feed ai random color data
    - allow ai 100+ cycles to iterate on the random color data
    - at each iteration the ai uses its memory of good vector states to compare against the random noise and nudge it towards good states
    - after N iterations the ai finds a completely unique state that is the result of a totally unique combination of vectors that have nudged pixels around

there is no stealing involved. the ai is playing that game where a friend draws a few lines on paper and you have to complete it as if they were drawing something. the ai has no memory of billions of images it was fed, it is just really good at throwing lots of lines down until the outcome resembles its vague sense of a "good" image

Oh wait, machine learning isn't entirely useless if you don't feed it other people's work

      Wh

The A stands for artificial. It's not producing anything new, it's a mashup of other people's work.

Don't use people's intellectual property to ""train"" the random image generator.

You need to produce it yourself. Otherwise it's theft.

      >the ai has no memory of billions of images
it just saves the information of the images as another state, images where still used in the creation and as vectors.
Its just another way of compression or optimizing the things that need to be saved.

Chest, this is like arguing that printing machine is bad because it put scribes out of work - it did, but it enabled mass readership in society, it didn't put the author's out of a job. AI art will simply enable people to produce and reproduce existing material, you still need humans to produce individual styles and original ideas and drawings.
The job being lost here is illustrators, not artists, as most of online "artists" work to a set template and style anyway. True "original" design will remain a human endeavour.

You can't draw what you haven't been taught. If I told you to draw me a eumillipes persephone, you'd go google what it is. Because you couldn't pull that out of your head (it's a millipede, btw, don't bother). But if I told you to draw a cow, you'd be done in a few seconds.

Your head only contains what has been put into it. Same as AI.

Copying data 1:1 is not "referencing"... AI uses data that doesn't belong to you.

You just can't admit AI without stealing it's shit.

You're stealing people's work. Without artists' work you're fricked. And your AI would make puke.

It does not 'copy 1:1', there is no image data in the .ckpt file. The model is composed of entirely novel vectors generated by a neural network. In the future you could record someones brainwaves while they try to learn to draw with a neuralink and then generate vector data off that and use it to generate images. None of the generated images would look like what they tried to draw. It is not immoral to learn how to draw by looking at art, we just created an artificial brain that can do it too.

      Nothing wrong with AI

Same as nothing wrong with Google image search

But if you train AI with people's intellectual property for comercial purposes, then you're profiting off people's work. Doesn't matter how good of a mashup it is.

Use AI images trained with images you've made yourself ot that are free to use

In the late 2021 I made a prediction that current situation of AI (current image generation quality, a bunch of "artists" seething and trying to lobby their precious "industry") would happen only in 2023. But I was wrong and it happened in mid-2022. The sheer speed of improvement is absolutely shocking. In less than a year we've come from a barely recognizable blobs to a nearly-perfect images with only a few imperfections like fingers, faces, text, complicated interactions (basically situations where multiple objects are supposed to relate to each other).
Now, seeing all those improvements, I'd like to make some predictions:
    >Early Summer 2023 - text generation perfected
    >Late Summer 2023 - image generation perfected
    >Fall 2024 - animation generation perfected
    >Spring 2025 - AI can generate a perfect animation with fully generated voice/sound
    >Spring 2026 - AI can generate a photorealistic movie
    >Fall 2026 - VR worlds, generated by AI on the fly
Now screencap this shit and greet the new age - the age of AI.

But then I saw the speed at which AI art is developing and decided "frick this, I am not spending an entire decade of my free time to become an average artist when I can just sit on my ass and jerk off all day straight for a couple of years and then generate better art in mere seconds than the best artists in the world could ever dream to draw".
Now I see that I was completely right and I won't regret my decision.
