I mean Im not saying the training for pharmacy is easy but the job itself must be pretty easy. Why would you want to give that up?

          Anonymous

Because I’m kind of sick of being a low status bum. I went to pharmacy school and dropped out because it was shit, and so now I have to become a tech person or die trying.

Go back to pharmacy school, you moron. You'll have access to millions of dollars worth of drugs (street value) once you get a pharmacist job.

I don’t have any interest in being a criminal and pharmacy is a fricking meme. Four years of a hellish med program just so you can spend your days getting yelled at by angry sick people because of their ignorance regarding their own insurance policies, while simultaneously having to suck the corporate wiener of your employer, only to BARELY make over six figures.

No thanks; I’ll take my chances in tech.

Was going to post this. I'm an electrician, so if anything this AI shit is going to make us even busier. Just like the data center boom that's been happening.

      >That fiber optic cable isn't gonna pull itself, wagie!

The post-work society can't come soon enough. Normies will kill themselves or some/drink/shoot-up themselves to death from boredom. And then demand will drop and GPU prices will finally stabilize. And then I can run a decent fricking GPT model locally.
Oh, and femoids will be obsolete because AI waifus will be perfected.
No more kids either because of mass femoid death.
      The future is bright, anons.

really depends on what "sysadmin" means at a particular company, it can be kind of a catch all title. at the low end, it's basically a step up from help desk...hardware deployments and repairs, active directory stuff, dhcp, application installs and support, etc. probably wouldn't pay less than 50 or 60k these days. at the higher end, where more complex stuff is required, it's over 100k.

the tag-team duo of GPT-4 and Boston Dynamics is coming. it's coming for you. every single one of you. nobody here is safe. not on this board, on this entire site, on the entire internet. the rich have what they need to finally strip everything from you and leave you with nothing, freezing and starving on the street with the police threatening to kill you, and they won't feel the consequences, because every need they have will be taken care of for them by these machines finally.
if you think you're somehow immune, you're an idiot. if you have a net worth of less than 1 billion dollars right now, you will die, and they will be laughing, and there is absolutely nothing that you can do about it.

I find it hard to believe that 90% of us are gonna lose our jobs to AI in 5 years. Sure, technology is advancing quickly, but I don't think it's gonna happen that fast. Plus, there's always gonna be a need for human workers, even if some jobs get automated.

Plus, who the frick is gonna program and maintain all these AI robots? Someone's gotta do it, and it ain't gonna be the robots themselves.

But, even if it does happen, we'll just adapt and find new ways to make a living. We've been through this before with the industrial revolution and we'll survive this too.

Don't let the fear mongers get to you, we're gonna be just fine.

In the end, we can't predict the future and we should focus on adapting and being ready for any change that comes.

It's important to point out that this kind of statement is a generalization and it could be the case that some jobs will be replaced by AI but others will be created, or the way some jobs are done will change, but humans will still be needed. It's also important to consider that AI can also help in many fields and make tasks more efficient and accurate.

I've been thinking about this all my life but it was only a few months ago when I actually felt it coming. I know I'm going to get a good job soon and I'm going to make six figures soon after that but I believe the end of relatively simple high-paying jobs will come long before I have enough money to retire. I'm still studying for certs and everything but there's a constant feeling in the back of my mind that this is hopeless.
AI has advanced so far so quickly. I used to have fun guessing which posts were bot posts but now I see shit like and think "That could be a bot but I have no way of knowing." and imagining what it'll be like a few years from now. Makes me long for the time when startups were doing moronic apps and shit instead of AI.

the lowly sysadmin was mocked by programmers for years, but lets see a.i. change pickup rollers in a printer or put a new end on an ethernet cable.

until we have ai combined with very high functioning robots, hardware chads will be safe.

You're not alone, bro. The future is looking bleak for all of us. We're all just trying to survive in this new world where AI is taking over everything. But don't lose hope, we can still make a difference. We just have to be smart and adapt to the new world. It might be hard, but we can do it. Don't let the bots get you down.
